LETTER FROM THE EDITOR

I just wanted to take a minute to talk about the magazine
and why it was created. Let me start by saying how
much I love playing MMATycoon. Prior to this game, the
only similar experience I had was playing UFC
Undisputed and running a wrestling e-fed. Both of these
things were a huge sap of time and eventually I just
couldn’t keep up. Tycoon has so many different things
you can do to keep busy, yet the action is spread out
enough to keep your interest.
So I want to say “Thank you” to Mike Tycoon for making
this great game (I appreciate it so much that I made a
shirt just for him). I want to thank the participants of
BOTC for making my dream come to life. And most
importantly, I want to thank you, the reader, for taking
your time to read this fake magazine that I put my heart
in to. I hope you enjoy the magazine and I implore you to
participant in this game as much as you can.

WELCOME TO THE MAGAZINE
BOTC 3: the Preview Magazine is one time magazine
produced by the PWNAGE Clothing Company of New
York prior to the first week of competition on the Blood
on the Canvas 3 TUF show. Its content is designed for
entertainment purposes only and is targeted towards
players of MMA Tycoon, the popular MMA simulator
found at MMATycoon.com. More specifically, this
publication encompasses all material related to the
Blood on the Canvas 3 – Ultimate Fighter-style
tournament.

BLOOD ON THE CANVAS

EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW

Blood on the Canvas, or BOTC as we call it, was picked

as the title of our show for three main reasons. First of
all, we wanted a catchy name. The Ultimate Tycoon
Fighter was appropriate, but lacked originality. Second,
is the simplicity of it. Blood on the Canvas a literal
description of what to expect: brutal cage-fighting with
bloodied faces and broken warriors. Many times after
these fights, all that remains is the blood on the canvas
and it is the story of the events that have occurred there.
Third is the double meaning of the title. The blood on this
show is the fighters. They represent youth, life,
excitement, and courage. They are the pulse of what we
have here. They are what bring the show to life. The
canvas is the opportunity they are given when put on the
stage. It is up to these artists to work with the skills they
have to create their own masterpiece. And when they

The Tournament
The show revolves around the tournament between the
fighters. The path through this tournament will determine
the ultimate financial success of its participants. It also
provides the necessary progression for the life of the
show. Setting the parameters of the tournament is easy.
Just select the number of fighters, the weight class,
experience levels, and appropriate age limits.

There will be 16 fighters.

This will be a double elimination tournament with a
main tournament champion and a consolation
tournament champion. Losers may opt out of their
contract or sack their fighter.

Each manager may only enter 1 fighter. This prevents
managers from developing factions of fighters or
throwing matches in an effort to protect certain fighters.

All fighters must be created in Amsterdam and may
only train in Amsterdam. This puts all the managers on
the level preventing managers with huge bank rolls
from using other international gyms. Having only New
York gyms to choose from will put the same limitations
on all the fighters.

All fighters must be created on the same day. This
ensures that everyone has the same amount of time to
train.

All fighters must be 18 years old. Fighters train fastest
at that age, but start with the lowest number of skill
points. They will also be able to go back in to training
after the show is over.

We decided that there would be no weight or height
restrictions for the fighters. This will ensure the fact
that every fighter will make weight for every fight. It
also gives participants the flexibility to create any style
fighter they wish.
Cash Prizes
We have generated a prize pool compiled of donations
from different sponsors. The top 8 fighters will get a
chunk of the prize pool. The winner of our show gets
25% of the prize pool. Fighters who are sacked or opt
out of their contract before the finale of the show will not
get any prize.
Sponsors
It is very important to get hooked up with companies that
will sponsor your show. They will help you promote what
you are doing, they will contribute to your cash prize,
and they will sponsor the fighters. The clothing company
in our show is giving each fighter a $300 sponsorship
and providing a new set of clothing every 2 weeks. The
nutrition company in our show is giving out 4 free
supplements to each fighter.

The Org
We were lucky enough to get Logan Mikki and Fight
World International, the #1 org in Amsterdam, to be our
host for the third season of BOTC. They have committed
to host our 4 shows, provide 500/500/500 contracts to
each fighter and manage a super heavy weight division
just for the show.
The Coaches
Although having coaches for each team is not
necessary, it will certainly flesh out the show. A coach
can give his fighters good match-ups and then prepare
them for the fight. We decided to have Buster Gloves
(owner of PWNAGE Clothing) and John Doe (alliance-
mate of the owner of Happy Pills Nutrition) as the
coaches. They will draft teams, pick the fights, have a
coaches' challenge, and fight at the end of the show.
Role-playing
What makes BOTC different from every other
tournament is the fact that we promote role-playing. We
encourage managers to speak as if they were the
fighter. This adds another dimension to the game, where
character backgrounds, personalities, and differences
can lead to friendships, rivalries, and creative
storytelling. We allow manager to make RP’s (posts on
the official forum page where they can make comments
in-character about themselves or other fighters). It is
possible to talk trash about a fighter and also give praise
to his manager at the same time. This is the art of role-
playing. By going on the forums and saying what your
fighter would say, rather than what you would say,
enhances the story and will help participants get deeper
in to the show. This style of show will not be for
everyone, and some players will only care about
statistics, wins, and money, and they will exploit every
rule they can to get it.
BOTC Tryouts/Recruitment
Due to the increased following of the show, BOTC 3 saw
the greatest turnout of applicants yet. The screening
process was pretty simple. For a few days after
Thanksgiving, BOTC was accepting applications from all
willing managers who wanted to put a fighter on the
show. Fighters on the show were selected based on a
few deciding factors (not particularly in this order):

The Show – Fighter Creation
Everything up until this point has been planning, and to
be honest, running the business part of this thing sucks.
But eventually, the show begins. On a given date, all the
fighters are created. We chose to have our fighters

created on Sunday December 5 . This date gave BOTC
a 1 week transition period from the time BOTC 2 ended
until the new season began. Allowing fighters to be
created on a Sunday eliminates time zone problems
because there are no training sessions on that day of the
week. New fighters are giving 1 week to go on the
forums and introduce themselves in a promo. It will also
give the coaches a chance to get to know the fighters
and develop a strategy for who they want to take in the
draft.
The Show – The Draft

On December 12 , the 16 fighters were drafted in to 2
teams. Our Moderator (KC Cooper) flipped a coin to see
which coach got the first pick. That coach got to pick the
first and every other fighter after that for his team. The
other coach will pick second and then every other fighter
after that. Incidentally, the coach who won the flip also
got to decide which of the last 2 fighters goes on his
team and which goes on the other. A week later, the
coaches set fights for the first round. The coach that
drafted second gets to set the first fight and then every
other fight after that plus the last fight.
The Show – Round 1
The first fights will happen 5 weeks after fighter creation.
This is 4 weeks after the draft and 3 weeks after the
fights have been picked. Only fighters that win move on
in the winners’ bracket of the tournament, but the
fighters that lose still have something to fight for. A
consolation bracket will be run for fighters who lose the
first round of the competition. If for any reason a fighter
in the consolation bracket drops out, the other fighter
may receive a bye or another eliminated fighter may be
invited back for another chance. All fighters will get at
least 2 fights.
The Show – Rounds 2 and 3 and 4
1 week after the Round 1, the coaches will pick the fights
for Round 2. This gives fighters 2 weeks to game plan
for the fight. The coach of the team that won the most
fights during Round 1 will get to set the first match-up. If
Round 1 was a draw, the same coach that set the first
match-up in Round 1 will also set the first fight in Round
2. Rounds 3 and 4 will work the same way, always with 3
weeks in between fights.
Extras – The Logo
The BOTC logo is basically a pool of blood on a white
background. The center of the blood pool is wiped away,
only to reveal the name of the show. The blood
represents the brutality of the show, while the white
background keeps it simple. All logos should be simple,
catchy, and memorable and I think the BOTC logo
covers all three bases.

Extras – The House
The BOTC house is a base of operations. It is a
controlled environment where variables are eliminated
and the true nature of a character is revealed. What will
happen when you put 16 different people in the same
exact situation? How will they react differently? We
decided to place our fighter house in the rolling hills
around Amsterdam. Although the exact location in not
revealed, it is clear that it is secluded and well equipped
for at least 16 guests. We have given the fighters plenty
to do at the house by adding a pool, a gym, a bar, a
movie theatre, an arcade, and even a bowling alley. We
also added pictures to help players get a mental image
of the setting.
Extras – The Jerseys
While matching uniforms are not essential to the
competition, some players will enjoy the idea of being
part of a team. So we have decided to send each player
a jersey for the team they are training on. In fact we
have decided to send them 2 jerseys per round. The
jerseys will promote our show, the companies involved,
and will hopefully improve the morale the fighters leading
to better ratings.
Extras – NPC’s (Non-Player Characters)
One last thing we added to the show is a staff. We
welcome players to use these NPC’s for their interviews,
promos, and character development. The last thing we
want to do is limit anyone’s creativity and adding NPC’s
will give fighters the opportunity to interact with other
people without affecting other fighters. By adding these
characters, we have done a lot of the legwork, and have
provided them a platform to demonstrate their
personality traits. We have introduced fictional field
reporters, expert analysts, and ring girls. Each fighter
can use these characters any way they like.
The Big Picture
Now that all the pieces are on the chess board, all that’s
left is to play the game. Blood on the Canvas is designed
to give participants the opportunity to explore every
aspect of MMA. MMA Tycoon provides much of the
experience, but does not allow fighters the chance to
come to life. Fighters are more than just their statistics;
they are living breathing creatures with emotions, life
stories, and dreams. And our show is a platform that
allows players to put their heart in to a fighter. It is only
my responsibility to document the experience. There’s
only one way to find out how things turn out. Don’t miss

PWNAGE is a New York MMATycoon company
specializing in producing clothing for mixed martial art
fans. PWNAGE manufactures over 250 clothing designs
including T-shirts, shorts, Gi’s, MMA gloves, hats, and
more. They provide free logos and product labels for
gyms, orgs, and nutrition companies. PWNAGE is one of
only a handful of companies in MMA Tycoon that have
ventured in to the realm of multi-media by producing
magazines, commercials, videos, and podcasts.
The PWNAGE Company was founded in February of
2010. Currently the #1 clothing company in New York,
PWNAGE ranks as one of the most successful
businesses in its region. As part of the MMALinker
Alliance, the company is part of a worldwide network of
allied companies including Happy Pills Nutrition and the

company also sponsors fighters of all levels and from all

In March of 2010, PWNAGE released its first commercial

created commercial to air on the One More Round Radio
podcast. The commercial was an immediate hit and 7
encore broadcasts were aired without the company
having to pay for them. The great response demanded
that additional commercials be put in to production. A
total of four commercials have been created to this date.
April of 2010 marked the beginning of the planning and
development stage of Blood on the Canvas. The idea
was created as a way to introduce role-playing in to the
MMATycoon world. This magazine is the fruit of this
creative process. A second season of Blood on the
Canvas began in August of 2010 and a third season (for
which this publication has been created) will run in
December of 2010.
Whereas some other clothing companies represent high
quality clothing at designer prices, PWNAGE is the
clothing company for the every-day MMA fan. The prices
are affordable. The designs are fun, artistic, and tasteful.

HAPPY PILLS NUTRITION
Happy Pills, considered by many to be the #1 nutrition
company in Helsinki right now, did not always operate
under the same name. Not too long ago, it was part of
the PhoQus franchise called PhoQus Sports Nutrition.
Anyone who has spent time in Helsinki will know that
PhoQus Sports Nutrition has been reestablished and is
currently researching new products. PhoQus Sports
Nutrition was sold when the previous owner was sued
and forced to liquidate assets. When the current owner
Kelly McGrady bought the company, there was just a
135 reduced energy loss and a 153 muscle bulk on the
shelves. Having trouble selling them, she decided to
drop the prices and hope to compete with the other local
companies. Before long, Happy Pills was the number
one source of cheap nutrition in Helsinki. With the
increased customers and sales, it was time for a new
product. The mad scientists behind the scenes quickly
went to work and in no time had produced a 155
increased stamina and a 140 weight loss supplement.
With the new products out, the company found another
burst of new customers wanting the new stamina
product. The weight loss wasn't as popular, but the goal
was more about offering variety than making a profit on
it. Which Happy Pills continued as the company went on.
It wasn't long and the research team had come up with 2
new products, a 140 weight gain and a 155 reduce
energy loss. All the research was costly, and nearly
bankrupted the entire company, but they soon realized
the investment would pay off. The new energy product

the city and it started selling rapidly. It was at this time

were out, the company settled down and stabilized a bit
before receiving a call from an investor who was looking
to invest in the company. He said he could help with
research costs if Happy Pills wanted to introduce a
higher quality product, but he couldn't pay it all. Being a
little short on cash, McGrady instantly went to work
scrambling to come up with enough money to produce
the product. She ended up going in debt, taking out a
$50k loan and contacting some of the fighters she
manages for some extra cash. Now with the money in
hand from both her and the investor, she sent the
research team to work once again. This time, they came
out with an amazing 159 reduce energy loss supplement
and put it on the shelves. Our sources tell us the
company has yet to recover the massive investment for
the 159 product, but has no worries about going
bankrupt. And that brings us to the Happy Pills of today,
a company with a diverse line of products and good
prices on everything. They are still chugging along and
continuing to supply new and veteran fighters alike.

THE HOUSE
The show features the daily preparations each fighter makes to
train for competition and the interactions they have with each
other while living under the same roof. When they are not
training, fighters are free to do as they please in the house.
All 16 fighters live in the BOTC Mansion. It is a 3-story castle
filled with cameras and camera men to catch all the behind-
the-scenes action. To minimize outside interference, the
location of the house is kept a secret. The house is located in a
remote region of the Netherlands within driving distance from
Amsterdam. It is buried in the mountains and surrounded by
trees. Each fighter has access to his own bedroom, but they
share every other room of the house.

Although, the fighters can not leave the location (except for
fights and training), they can have things brought to them. This
means an unlimited supply of food and drinks, plus access to
movies and music. However, the BOTC competition is
designed to remove all outside influences and that means no
cell phones, no TV (except to watch MMA), no radio, no
internet, no cars, no women, and no trips to the outside world.
The house is well equipped to accommodate and entertain its
guests. Residents have access to a pool, hot tub, movie
theatre, basketball court, gym, video arcade, bowling alley, bar,
and petting zoo. Ok just kidding about the petting zoo. The
house also has several confession rooms where fighters can
stop by and talk about the show and its fighters.

PRIZES
The top 8 BOTC fighters receive prizes. What each one
gets is based on what team he gets drafted to and what
place he finishes in the competition. However, some
prizes are given to every fighter just for joining the show.
All fighters get:

$300 sponsorship from PWNAGE Clothing of NY.
Sponsorship will be for 90 days.

All fighters who accept this sponsorship from
PWNAGE will also receive 6 jerseys for the team they
are on.

All fighters automatically will receive 4 energy products
from Happy Pills Nutrition Helsinki.

A 4 fight 500/500/500 contract from Fight World
International

A $1000 bonus for each fight they finish with a KO or
Submission. (Bonuses will be issued as a sponsorship
by PWNAGE and will be withdrawn from the total prize
pool).
All fighters get 4 fights. The results of all 4 fights will
determine in what place you finish. The rank in which
you finish will determine the amount of prize money you
earn from the show. Refer to the chart below to
determine winnings (Note that this prize is separate from
your contracts).
Total Prize Pool as of this publication is $80,000.00
(donated by PWNAGE Clothing NY and Fight World
International) The percentage listed above will be a
percentage of what is left after the KO/Submission
bonuses, coaches challenges, and $300 sponsorships
are taken out.

1st place (winner of the main tourney finale) - 25% of
cash prize, the BOTC Open weight title, and a
signature clothing line designed and sold exclusively

2nd place (loser of the main tourney finale) – 20% of
cash prize

3rd place (winner of the 3rd place fight) – 15% of cash
prize

4th place (loser of the 4th place fight) – 12.5% of cash
prize

5th place (winner of the consolation tourney) – 10% of
cash prize

6th place (loser of the consolation tourney) – 7.5% of
cash prize

7th place (winner of the 3rd place fight in the
consolation tourney) – 5% of cash prize

8th place (loser of the 3rd place fight in the consolation
tourney) – 2.5% of cash prize

(The other 2.5% will go towards bonuses awarded for

Other fighters that perform well in the tournament may
be asked to appear in future seasons of the show as
coaches, guests, or fighters in main events for each
Round’s card.
Most importantly, by participating in the show, your
fighter will be immortalized in the BOTC magazine,
paving the way for future shows and fighters. It is our
goal to make this experience as memorable as we can.

BOTC 1: WHERE ARE THEY NOW?
Ever wonder what happened to the participants of the first season of Blood on the Canvas? Well, investigative reporters Sarah
Stone and Marcus Downes caught up with the guys and here is what they found out.
BioPharm Nutrition
BioPharm is consistently ranked among the top 3 in New York
and top 10 in the world. In addition to its 3 products at 159
quality, they have added a weight loss product to the arsenal.
Plus it is the highest quality product in New York. The company
has continued to build its brand name around the world.
Coach Max Powers
Max Powers is the owner of BioPharm Nutrition and the Project
Mayhem alliance. The alliance sits at #4 in the city of New
York. Max has achieved great success as a manager over the
past year and currently ranks in the top 200 managers.
Marcus Wright
Wright retired from MMA after his final fight on BOTC. He now
works as a police officer for the New Orleans City Police. He
has plans to be married in the spring of 2011.
Kid Ghostdini
Ghostdini fought and defeated a superior fighter in his only
cage appearance since the show. Ghostdini is currently
unsigned, but is determined to return to the ring.
Noah Anderson
After winning his final 3 fights on BOTC, Noah Anderson
decided to walk away from the sport. He returned to Oregon
and has taken up employment with a logging company.
Cus Jr
After a loss in his first fight post-BOTC, Jr. went in to a deep
depression and became addicted to narcotics. He was
expelled from his fight camp and was forced in to recovery.
Eventually, he was able to return to the cage and achieve
victory in 20 seconds.
Leonel Lutsky
The champion of season 1 has remained largely inactive since
the show. Primarily focusing on training, Lutsky has had only
one appearance in the cage post-BOTC when he defeated
BOTC vet Lasse Willamoes on the finale of the BOTC2
season. Lutsky is now 5-0 with 4 wins by KO.
Frederick Stavich
Stavich retired from fighting immediately after his loss on the
BOTC finale. The retirement was prompted by the shattered
orbital he received in his KO loss to Cus Jr. on the finale. He
now works as an electrician in his home town of Greenwich
England and has a new-born son named Edward.
Lewis McMurray
The “Cowboy” has been successful in 3 of the 4 fights since
BOTC. As a fighter for HKFC in New York, the boxer/wrestler
is still great on his feet, but needs work on his ground game.

Mescudi is awaiting trial after his involvement in the murder of
a man in Pittsburgh, PA. Allegedly he killed a man so that his
girlfriend could collect the insurance money. This marks the
third time since BOTC that he has been arrested.

Since BOTC 1, PWNAGE has stayed at #1 in the city while
racking up over 30 weeks of 500 sales. They’ve expanded their
clothing line to over 250 designs while still organizing and
sponsoring the Blood on the Canvas 2 IFL-League.
Coach Buster Gloves
Owner of PWNAGE Clothing, Buster Gloves now ranks in the
top 600 managers in the world and is a member of the highly
successful MMALInker Alliance. He has also been nominated
for the 2010 Best New Manager, Best Clothing Company
(PWNAGE), Best Clothing (PWNAGE), Best Poster Design
(Convicted LA) and Best Tournament (BOTC 1).
Rian Madison

This 3 place finisher has fought on a regular basis since the
show. He has gone 2-2 in HKFC and is working hard to
improve his record.
Randy Musashi
Musashi has gone 2-1 at HKFC since the show. Randy has
evolved in to a talented striker and is looking to continue
working his way up the ladder.
Lasse Willamoes
All 5 of Willamoes fights have been against BOTC participants.
He has gone 2-3 over his career, but has only fought once
since the show ended. He’s been working on his technique and
has evolved in to the best grappling prospect to come out of
the show. Willamoes seems set to take the MMA world down.
AJ Kanada
“The Atomic Bomb” AJ Kanada joined the army after his stint
on BOTC. Ironically he was killed in the line of duty when a
bomb destroyed the Hum-V he was traveling in while in Iraq.
He is survived by his mother Amanda and her 16 cats.
Jules Winnfield

Jules is still as bad as he ever was. After finishing in 2 place,
he joined Hell’s Kitchen Fight Club and ran his record up to 5-
1. However, he has loss his last 2 fights, including a title shot,
and is looking to get back to his winning ways.
Buju Badulu
Badulu gave up fighting after BOTC and returned home to
Jamaica take care of his sick mother. Badulu now works as a
taxi driver and has ambitions are to one day return to the ring.
Dwight Wells

“The Repeat” Dwight Wells repeatedly lost on the 1 season of
BOTC. At 0-4 Wells had one more final fight in the cage. Only
this time, he emerged victorious. This win was enough to
quench his thirst for the game and he retired after the fight to
become a student at Colorado State University.
Ryan Rummer
Since going 1-3 on BOTC, Ryan Rummer has racked up 3
consecutive wins fighting as a light heavyweight for Hell’s
Kitchen Fight Club in New York. He faces BOTC vet Lewis

THE RULES
Casting
All fighters were accepted to the show during a recruiting
phase. Applicants filled out a form which asked for
fighter name, hometown, and background story. The first
16 complete entries were accepted in to the show.
Fighter Creation
All fighters were created after the gym fees are
processed on the same day. All fighters reside in
Amsterdam and are 18 years of age. This is an open-
weight competition. So fighter heights and weights are
all over the map. We have done this to ensure all
fighters make weight.
Training
Although we wanted to set up 2 separate private gyms
for the competition, we were unable to find willing hosts.
Therefore, all fighters are allowed to train anywhere in
Amsterdam. Fighters are not allowed to train in other
cities or travel. This rule is to ensure that every fighter
will show up to their fight. Fighters get 4 weeks to train
from the day they are created until their first fight.
Fights
There will be 3 weeks in between fights. For the first
round, matchups will be set 3 weeks before the card.
Rounds 2 and 3 will have matchups set 2 weeks before
the card. Round 4’s matchups will be dictated by the
results of Round 3. Fights will be 3-round fights in a cage
with a 10 point must system. The finale will be a 5-round
title fight.
RP’s
Role-plays, or RP’s for short, are in-character posts on
the BOTC forum page. By in-character I mean pretend
as if your fighter was doing a confessional or interview
about the show. Posting these promos gives the world
an inside look at the personality of your fighter and will
make for good material in the magazine. Posting them

won’t help you chances of winning, but it will certainly
make us like you more.
If a manager wants to say something out-of-character or
if he does not have a fighter on the show, he starts the
post with the following prefix: OOC (out-of-character). I
know this might sound a little cheesy, but it will be fun to
see how the fighters interact. And since we are saying
everything in-character, hopefully that means that
feelings will not get hurt. So when managers post on the
board, they think about their fighter’s personality, what
he would say, and how he would say it. Actions are put it
inside these < >. For example <Buster Gloves
powerbombs your momma through a coffee table>. You
get the idea.
Rules about RP’s (role-plays):

Please do not role-play for anyone else’s character.
That means do not speak for them, do not physically
attack them, and do not do anything to them regarding
their families or pets.

For fuck sake, do not use excessive language. If you
want to cuss, put stars in for the vowels. For example
“stupid dumb sh*t god d*mn mother f*cker.”

Try to avoid the racial, gender, religion jokes. You are
the only one laughing; and no; it will not be aired on the
show. However, in my opinion, the nationality jokes are
ok.”

And I’m gulity of this. Use spell check. Hard to
intimidate when your spelling is terrible.

EASY ON THE CAPS. Only use caps if you are yelling
something.

You do not talk about BOTC!!! Sike. Please talk about
BOTC constantly, but if you want to pull a prank, PM
BusterGloves. If you want to perform a special
action/prank/surprise attack on a fighter, destroy the
house or interact with coaches, PM us and we will
make it happen. However, it is up to us to determine
how your request is carried out and the effect
it has.
Policing the Rules
It will be impossible to police the fighters and managers
of this game. So we ask that you act through a code of
honor. What we do not want to see is fighters throwing
matches, acting as spies for other players, or fighters
throwing fits because they feel like they got screwed for
one reason or another. This is most important when
dealing with new managers. We don’t want to see
experienced managers griefing noobs by crashing
sparring sessions, intentionally giving bad or false
information, or blatantly picking on them. Although the
show is a competition, it’s not only about winning. This
show is about the experience and the results of the
fights are almost a bi-product. We would match rather
see fighters develop as a team than to see one or two
great talents rise from the wreckage.

THE TRYOUTS
Open tryouts for "Blood on the Canvas 3" took place in early
December of 2010, and nearly 300 prospective cast members
took part in the process, including a host of promising fighters
from top notch camps. You could cut the testosterone with a
knife.
Cameras were on hand at the 8 hour session, which took place
in Las Vegas at the Red Rock Resort & Casino's Summerlin
Ballroom. There were 298 fighters from various weight classes
who showed up cauliflower ears and all in hopes of becoming
the next BOTC Champion, but only 16 would earn a spot on
the Versus Channel broadcast reality series.
All contestants were put through a battery of drills. Potential
contestants faced three sections of the tryout: grappling,
striking, and the interview. They were given two minutes each
of grappling and striking. At the end of each section, cuts were
made. Then came the interviews; which were overseen by
BOTC coaches Buster Gloves, and John Doe as well as BOTC
Moderator KC Cooper and other network executives. “We
(expletive) with these guys a lot after they get to a certain
(level),” said Gloves. “After we find out who can fight, and who
can be on the show, then they get into the reality side of it and
it’s not so fun for the guys anymore.”
A host of promising prospects took their turns at fulfilling their
dreams. There was the unlucky contestant that apparently
dislocated his elbow while grappling, cutting his day short.
There was the Canadian self-proclaimed champion who tried
to wow the panel with his home-made title belt and punctuated
his grappling with extensive (and very loud) trash-talking
throughout. There was even an energetic young fighter who
looked to up his chances by carving the initials BOTC in his
hair. Needless to say, most of the fighters didn’t make it very
far. “I don’t know what I did,” said on of the hopefuls sulking in
the waiting room. “I’m just really disappointed. I paid a lot of
money, and did a lot of things to make it here. Just a little hurt
right now.”

BOTC Coach Buster Gloves called it a low turnout. After
season one’s tryouts drew over 400 fighters, he was perplexed
by the drop-off. “It’s f*cking weird,” he said. “You would think
right now with the economy in the pisser, I just thought this
would be the biggest turnout we ever had.”
Most of the fighters who showed up had little or no experience
on the big stage. A few, however, had decorated resumes that
included time in the cage.
But the most memorable moment of the day very likely went to
one-armed fighter, who wowed on the mat with a dizzying
array of submission attempts before tapping his grappling
partner with a deftly executed omaplata.
The crowd thinned out as the day moved along. Along
overcome with disappointment, many fighters proclaimed that
they would not give up on their dreams of becoming an MMA
star. BOTC Moderator KC Cooper had this to say about the
screening process. “We think we’ve got the best group of guys
in the bunch. That doesn’t necessarily mean that they are the
best fighters in the bunch, but they certainly are the best for the
show.”
BOTC Coach John Doe added the following, “What we are
looking for is entertainment value. We could bring in a house
full of veterans that don’t party and are in bed by 7 o’clock, but
who would want to watch that on TV? We’ve got a bunch of
young guns with a screw loose here and there, and we are
counting on some drama. “
Buster G loves agrees. “It’s like when people get in there, they
forgot what they signed up for,” he said. “You’re gonna be in
the house, and you’re not going to have a cell phone and all
these things. It’s like a bowl full of fighting fish. After a while,
there’s nothing to do, but attack each other. That’s what we are
counting on, and that’s what the world loves to watch on TV.”
Final cuts were announced at the end of the day and the
results were released to the public shortly after.

Fighter Name: Ray “Anger” Management

Hometown: Peterborough, United Kingdom
Fight Camp/Alliance: BLKOUT
Ray Management was born and bred in Peterborough,
England. He was a bit of a homebody, never venturing far from
his small home. He attributes this to his large tight-nit family.

Being the 3 of 4 boys, he and his brothers were all strong as
oxes, but he never really excelled above the rest. However
physically gifted, he suffered from learning difficulties at school.
This led to teasing from other students, fights and eventually
suspensions. He was labeled as a misfit and was notorious for
misbehaving, but for Ray, it was all just a defense mechanism.
The culmination of his problems resulted in his expulsion from
public school. Against his parents’ wishes, he was sent to a
center for children with anger and violence issues. He learned
to control his violent outbursts. Furthermore, he focused his
energy on martial arts to control his temper. At seventeen
years of age, the disciplined young man was released from the
center. He walked away with a better understanding of himself,
but lacked the education and social experience that other high
school graduates possessed. College was out of the question,
and work was hard to find. His parents suggested that he use
the martial art skills he had learned while in school, and put
them to use.
After much deliberation, Ray decided to join the BLKOUT gym
conveniently located in Peterborough. The program changed
his life. His attitude and demeanor changed instantly. He
became a happier person who was excited being a part of
something. Ray’s parents took notice. They fully funded his
training and encouraged him to compete. Ray was cool, calm,
and collective, but as soon as he stepped into the cage, the
anger seemed to take over, and he was an unstoppable force.
As soon as his coaches asked what his last name was,
everyone started calling him “Anger” instead of Ray. After 3
months of training, Ray entered the caged for his first amateur
fight and exited victoriously. Ray went on to fight and win 3
more times in the cage as an amateur. Looking to take his
career to the next level, Ray’s parents helped him with the
decision to go professional. That’s when they found the
auditions for the BOTC 3 tournament.

Fighter Name: Mark “The Wolf” Mann
Manager: Kyle Pearce
Hometown: Calgary, Alberta, Canada
Fight Camp/Alliance: Renegade Warriors
Reigning from Calgary, Canada, 14 year old Mark Mann was
an average high school wrestler. Although physically gifted, his
coaches said he lacked “killer instinct”. Mark was a decent
student, and had no real intentions of pursuing any sports after
graduating. At the time, college was the goal, and participating
in a sport seemed likely to help him get in to a better school. All
of this changed on a freshman hiking trip.
While on a trail, Mark found himself briefly separated from the
rest of his group. What happened next is unclear as
statements from the other students and chaperones vary, but
Mark’s story seems to be the most credible. According to Mark,
He had wandered off to take a picture from the top of a rock
pile. He was an experienced hiker and an independent young
man, so it was not uncommon for him to venture out alone a
little beyond the safe confines of the group. On the way back to
the trail, he was confronted by a large, black wolf. He said that
he froze in his tracks and the wolf just stared his in the eyes for
a moment. It wasn’t until another student stumbled upon the
staring match that the wolf attacked. Instead of helping the
Mark, the student ran for help. The group returned to that spot
a few minutes later and found the body of Mark Mann. Most of
his gear was shredded and his body bore several claw and bite
marks. Miraculously, he survived the attack, but the effect that
this had on him, was more than physical.
According to his friends, Mark was a changed man. He was
quiet and distant in everyday interactions. He quit the wrestling
program and his grades began to slip. More than once, he left
his dorm room to go camping all by himself. He also enrolled
himself at a local gym to participate in MMA classes.
Instructors were startled by his unparalleled aggression in the
cage. This was a complete change from his performance as a
wrestler. Concerned by his new persona, Mark’s parents had
him evaluated. Although his therapists suggest that he was
manifesting a Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Mark insists that
something more primal awakened within him.
Mark gave himself the nickname “The Wolf”. Some of his
training partners were uncomfortable with just how much he
was embracing his lifestyle change, but they all respected his
skill. By the time he was 18, he had gone 5-0 as an amateur

Fighter Name: Logan “Biff” Mitchell
Manager: Mason Venti
Hometown: Canmore, Alberta, Canada
Fight Camp/Alliance: Tycoon Elite
Logan Mitchell was born in the mountain town of Canmore in
Alberta, Canada. The small town was a haven for skiers and
snowboarders alike, but not for Logan. He just could not keep
his skis straight and snowboarding was even worse. He gained
a reputation for being the king of the wipeout. At a young age,
his friends nicknamed him “Biff” (a slang word meaning: to fall
hard). Logan accepted this name as a term of endearment.
Everyone knows everyone in a small town and this was the
case in Canmore. Logan had a strong and supportive family,
and rather than become a laughing stock, the neighborhood
saw fit to find Logan’s true calling. Logan joined a boxing gym.
The building was an abandoned warehouse that had been
fixed up by Logan’s Uncle. Members of the gym said it was
cozy, earthy, and more practical than all the corporate gyms
popping up in Calgary. Even though the adapted equipment
was unorthodox, it was still effective none the less. Logan’s
Uncle was the real driving force behind the success of the
gym. He had been a gold gloves champion and Olympic
alternate back in the early 80’s. Since then he had led several
fighters to the top of the Canadian fight circuit. Soon the only
reason to come to the city of Canmore was for the mountain or
for the gym.
When Logan’s parents went on a European trip one summer,
his uncle offered to watch him. He offered to train the 10-year
old for free in exchange for some help around the gym. Logan
was hooked instantly. Although uncoordinated on the
mountain, his footwork in the ring was phenomenal. His hands
were lightning fast. After the summer was over, Logan kept on
training. Soon he became the gym’s star student. The entire
community encouraged Logan to compete. So he did, and he
did it well. In fact, Logan competed as much as possible up
until he turned 18 years old. He went 53-3 and became a
Canadian junior national champion and became the pride of
Canmore before turning pro at the age of 18.
With the full support of his town, Logan Mitchell traveled to the
open try-outs of the Blood on the Canvas TUF show. He
impressed the judges with his pure talent and will be on the
show representing himself and his town.

Fighter Name: Dew “Bruce Wayne” Rain
Manager: Gogo Platimus
Hometown: New York City, New York
Fight Camp/Alliance: The Steel Penn Alliance
Dew Rain is born to Dr. Thomas Rain and his wife Martha, two
very wealthy and charitable New York City socialites. Dew was
brought up in Rain Manor, with its wealthy splendor, and led a
happy and privileged existence until the age of eight, when his
parents were killed murdered. The police report states that
they were mugged outside a movie theater and were shot after
his father began to fight back. Dew’s grandparents gained
custody of the young boy shortly after and the man found guilty
of the crime died in prison of a heart attack just 6 months after
sentencing.
Dew was forever changed by the incident. His childhood had
all but been taken away from him and the boy that was so full
of life could only look at life and humanity for what it really was.
Dew became an intellectual driven young man that took had
only one ambition in life; to avenge the death of his parents. So
throughout his teenage years, he engaged in intense
intellectual and physical training. He also hired a full-time
wrestling coach in hopes of honoring his family name.
Over time, Dew became obsessed with his training. Fellow
students say that he had no close friends and had not laughed
since elementary school, but these rumors are speculative.
What is factual is that he wrestled on his high school team for 4
years and was a state champion. Even his team mates
regarded as a lone wolf and labeled “Bruce Wayne” or
“Batman” due to the similarities between him and the comic
hero.
After high school, Dew was offered full scholarships to several
prestigious universities that appreciated his grades and desired
his wrestling skills. Safely provided for by his parents’
inheritance, he decided to forgo the opportunity and train full-
time at Wildcat’s MMA gym in New York. No student had every
showed such focus, and soon Dew’s game began to be about
more than just wrestling. Once he turned 18 years old, Dew
fought in and won 2 amateur MMA fights. When he heard
about the open tryouts for BOTC, he knew his opportunity to
bring honor to his family name had arrived. So he tried out,
made the show, and is eager to avenge the loss of his parents.

Fighter Name: Beau “Redneck Heartthrob” Waters
Manager: Aychtoo Beaux
Hometown: Oxford, Mississippi
Fight Camp/Alliance: Undisputed MMA
Coming from a farming family, Beau Waters grew up in the
same city as the University of Mississippi. He knew how to
work hard and then throw a hell of a party. Whether it was
picking up sorority girls at bars or pounding beers with frat
boys, this underage redneck pretty-boy townie was the best at
what he did. Waters was a local celebrity, and party people just
wanted to be seen with him.
One day though, he came to the realization that he needed to
change his life. Although he talked a big game, he had never
gotten into a fight. He decided the time of other people fighting
for him was over and it was time to handle his own business.
He had to learn to fight.
Beau made the long drive to a boxing school in Memphis. He
struggled desperately but still showed heart. He continued to
come forward despite getting dominated. It might have just
been the adrenaline, but Waters just kept asking for more
abuse, and his sparring partners obliged.
A year later, Waters had shown such rapid improvement, his
coaches proclaimed him to be greatness in the making. They
said he had the strongest chin they had every seen, so they
booked some amateur fights on the famous Beale Street in
Memphis. Barely 18 years old, he had fought several times,
occasionally against fighters in much higher weight classes. He
considered going professional as a boxer…for a while.
He attended a fraternity party that featured a UFC event.
Originally he went for the free food and drinks. He watched the
event and saw a little Hawaiian fighter with box his way to an
$80,000 knockout of the night bonus. The money got Waters
excited. He recognized that his boxing skills would be a great
way to earn a living in the cage and ultimately ear some money
for his growing farm?
Waters is now 18 and is a pro MMA fighter. He says he’s got
the strongest chin and the prettiest face in the business. He
says the BOTC tryouts were the perfect spot for his MMA
debut. Now he is ready to showcase his skills not only inside
the cage, but also outside the cage in one of the biggest
partying cities in the world.

Fighter Name: “Big Bang” Alek Casey
Manager: Alek Mitchell
Hometown: Kalispell, Montana
Fight Camp/Alliance: None
Coming from a dying town in Montana, Alek has always had to
fight for everything he had. For a long time, Alek’s family
owned a hardware store on Main Street, but it went out of
business when the big Superstore came to town. The family
business made a drastic change when his father was looking
for a way to make ends meet.
The family packed up their things and moved to the larger city
of Kalispell, Montana. Alek’s father began running an
underground fight league. Alek was 10 years old at the time
and became an integral part of the business. Originally working
as an errand boy around the events, Alek started picking up
techniques from the fighters. Known for being a fighter and a
trouble maker, his dad arranged his first official fight when Alek
was only 13 years old. He was matched up against a cocky 17-
year-old that had a real mean streak. The fight was meant to
be a lesson to Alek, reforming him in the process. The other
fighter had fought for a few times already and had a 3-0 record.
A huge underdog in the fight, Alek knocked out his opponent in
under a minute. Needless to say, the crowd went nuts,
cheering his name and earning him a good pay day in the
process. The fight earned him his nickname "Bang Bang."
After that fight, Alek never returned to his father’s fight ring.
Instead he was pulled from the cage and personally trained by
his father. Even at a young age, Alek’s size enabled him to
intimidate smaller men, so Alek was also enlisted to work
security at the fight events. He continued working security for
the next 5 years. Without his father’s knowledge, “Bang Bang”
would travel to fight rings in other cities to build up his
experience. He won most of these fights and was paid to take
a dive in a few, but he always made his money.
Recently, after winning one of his fights, Alek Casey was
confronted by his father. His father was angry about the fact
that he had to hide his fight career, but was happy because he
had just made a ton of cash betting on his son. He also told
Alek a story about an open weight MMA tournament TV show
that would air on national television. He saw dollar signs in his
eyes and headed out to tryouts. He made the show and is
ready to get in the cage and knock out a few more cocky
fighters.

Fighter Name: Dragos “Vampiro” Ilie
Manager: Daemon Rebel
Hometown: Toronto, Ontario, Canada
Fight Camp/Alliance: none
Originally from Romania, Dragos’ parents immigrated to
Canada for a better life. Dragos was born about a year after
they moved to the country. The family had very little income in
those early years, and had a difficult time adapting to the
culture and language. It would take Dragos a long time to
overcome that stigma.
Dragos did not have many friends. His community perceived
the Ilie’s to be a family of beggars, and Dragos was one of
them. Although he spoke perfect English, Dragos was tireless
harassed by bullies. For a long time he just took the abuse, but
once he hit his growth spurt, he began to fight back. As a high
school fresh, Dragos was involved in an incident where a
couple bullies cornered him in a bathroom. To his credit,
Dragos fought back and dumped them both in garbage cans.
This action nearly got Dragos expelled from school, but he was
given a second chance.
The school’s counselor along with the school's wrestling coach
approached Dragos with the idea of putting him on the team.
They thought it would be a positive outlet for the young man
surrounded by difficulties. Dragos performed very well during
his time on the team He was named Captain of his junior

varsity team and finished 3 in his weight class in the region as
a sophomore. Later than year, he father fell ill and the
pressures at home forced Dragos to drop out of school. At the
age of 16, he got work at a nickel mine in Noranda, Quebec.
He used most of the money to help prevent his family from
losing their home. The rest he saved for his chance to have a
future.
While working at the mine, Dragos was aware of the
underground fighting rings in the area. He was desperate for
cash, and thought it would be another way to make some
money on the side. To his surprise, Dragos was able to
dominate a lot of the other fighters. He already had some
training as a wrestlers and working in the mine had improved
his strength. He took on the nickname “Vampiro” because of
his heritage and his affinity for blood. At the age of 18, one of
the miners suggested Dragos to tryout at the TUF tournament
being held by the org Blood on the Canvas. He made the
show, went pro and is ready to make some money.

Fighter Name: “Naked” Bernie Bridges
Manager: Marco Battaglia
Hometown: Lexington, North Carolina
Fight Camp/Alliance: Carolina Top Team
Bernie Bridges is from the small central North Carolina town of
Lexington where life has slowed to a time-forgotten crawl. In
the late ‘70s, Bernie’s biological mother gave birth to six
children, all of whom she sold to support her habits. During the
‘80s she patrolled truck stops and waffle houses turning tricks
a few times a day before returning to her motel room. She lived
this life until 1991 when the pending birth of her unlucky
seventh child. This time, she was a-wanting-to-right-her-
wrongs mother. However, drugs and disease over time
weakened her body and she was unable to survive childbirth.
Born in a hotel room, Bernie was left to the care the sixty-five
year old maid. For the first ten days of his life, he remained
unclothed. On day 11, it was decided that the vagabond couple
living in the hotel room next door would gain custody of the
baby who had now become known as “Naked” Bernie.
A ruined youth chiseled Bernie into an increasingly psychotic
teenager. His adopted mother tried her best be a good mother
to Bernie but she always found trouble. Her husband was a
drunk and abusive ex-Army Ranger. Kids increasingly wanted
to know why Bernie was called “Naked” Bernie and, wanting to
get noticed for something other than his school bus stopping at
the local crack motel, Bernie made of stories of the adventures
he had all the while stark naked. Eventually, they started
demanding to be a witness to some of these feats.
Bernie’s first real naked adventure took place at the very place
he called home. Bernie talked a group of friends in to hanging
out at the motel, where they would “see hookers and watch
free porno and then sneak a swim into the pool.” Somebody
dared him to jump from the balcony of a motel room into the
pool. He gladly accepted. However, once he climbed onto the
balcony and stripped naked in front of pool-goers, he decided
that a freefall into the gigantic thorny holly bush below him
made for a much more dramatic presentation. And so the
legend of “Naked” Bernie Bridges was born.
At the age of eighteen, Bernie has made his way naked from
North Carolina to New York in a stolen police car-turned yellow
cab with two friends prodding him every step of the way.
They’ve dared him to walk into an open tryout for an MMA TV
reality show without a stitch of clothing on.

Fighter Name: “Hightower” Devon Berto Jr.

Hometown: Stockton, California

Born in Stockton, California, Devon Berto Jr. is the youngest of
four brothers. The other three constantly picked on him as a
child, so ultimately he learned how to stand up for himself. At
first the fights were between siblings, but later they were
against the neighborhood kids. Devon’s older brother walked
their neighborhood like made men. If someone messed with
one of them, then the other brothers would step in. It wasn’t
always fair, but the Berto boys always came out on top. This
went the same for Berto. More than once he found himself in a
fist fight with older kids that had offended one of the brothers.
The older the brothers got, the more protective they were of
Devon, and as Devon approached high school, they all started
to move away, get jobs, and start families. The gang had
disbanded.
With the encouragement of his brothers, Devon finally started
focusing on schoolwork. The Berto boys were bound to keep
Devon out of trouble and prevent him from making the same
mistakes that they had made along the way. Although a
follower by nature, Devon is the most intelligent of the four
brothers. This raises the question “Was Devon the kingpin of
the Berto boys clan?” Regardless of the fact, Berto excelled in
his high school years as both a student and an athlete. His
achievement ultimately earned him a full scholarship at San
Jose State University where he would participate in both
boxing and wrestling.
After a while, the allure of college wasn’t enough to keep
Devon’s attention. His family’s influence lessened during his
time living on campus. Devon became a new man while living
on campus. He became a leader among his friends and
adopted the name “Hightower” because of his immaculate
mustache he grew that looked like that of the formerly
mentioned Police Academy character. The mustache is now
gone, but his new persona is still alive and well.
Recently, Devon found an opportunity to cash in on his fighting
skills. That’s when Devon attended the open tryouts for BOTC.
He promised himself that if he made the show, he would leave
school and become a pro MMA fighter. He figured after he
made his money, he could always come back and finish up his
degree anyway. Only question is, “Will it be worth everything
he gave up?”

Fighter Name: Kevin “The Minute Man” Brookins
Manager: Kyle Brookins
Hometown: London, United Kingdom
Fight Camp/Alliance: Brookins Fight Team
Kevin Brookins is has always been a resident of London,
England. Originally raised in a very religious home, he led a
sheltered life for a while. Tragically, both of his parents were
killed in an automobile accident when he was 13 years old.
After that, he was sent to a foster home and he was suddenly
exposed to many new things that his parents had always kept
away from him.
At first Kevin was socially awkward, but the other foster
children in his home eventually accepted him in to the group.
He would sneak away with them for parties where they would
drink and smoke pot. Occasionally, these parties were host to
backyard brawls. Seeking to gain further acceptance, Brookins
entered his first fight at the age of 16 years old. He was able to
finish the fight in under a minute and was applauded by his
peers for the feat. In fact, he was given the name, “The Minute
Man” after the event because of his ability to finish the fight
quickly. However, some dispute that the nickname came from
the sexual encounter Kevin engaged in with a dissatisfied
young lady later that night. Kevin continued fighting as much
as possible in these backyard brawls and made some good
money in the process.
It was hard for a teenage boy to get adopted, so he lived in the
foster home up until the age of 17 when he dropped out of
school to train and fight on amateur circuits around London. He
spent most of his nights squatting in houses, sleeping in his
car, or crashing on the couch at whatever house he happened
to be at on that particular night. Life was tough then, but so
was Kevin. He always found a way to make things work, a feat
that he attributes to God watching out for him.
Still a scrappy fighter and a heavily religious young man, Kevin
was able to build his record up to 9-4 before hearing about the
open tryouts for BOTC. Once he got the call that he was going
to be on the show, he turned profession and got ready to make
his MMA debut on the BOTC show.

Fighter Name: Daniel “The Kid” Musso
Manager: Alan Chamsky
Hometown: Reseda, California
Fight Camp/Alliance: Hater Nation
Originally, Daniel was raised in Newark, New Jersey. His father
was a professional wrestler, wrestling under the moniker "Billy
the Kid". However, the former performer abused drugs heavily
before he had settled down. His heart had been damaged in
the process and gave out years before it should have. At the
age of 14, his father died, and his mother moved them to
California. She had family there and was able to find work to
support them both.
Adjusting to new life in California was difficult for Daniel. He
was a poor student and was the target of bullies. One
particular group of kids that gave him trouble belonged to a
local Tae Kwon Do school. One night they cornered Daniel
after a school dance. Intent on beating him to a pulp, they were
stopped by the intervention an elderly Asian man who
happened to be passing by. Fortunately for Daniel, the man
was a Muay Thai master. Appreciative and awe struck by his
abilities, Daniel convinced the old man to train him in Muay
Thai.
Daniel proved to be a much better studio at the gym than in the
classroom. He honed his skills and taught a lesson to the
bullies that tortured him in high school. He met a few of them in
an underground fighting circuit and won convincingly. He also
charmed the girlfriend of the bullies’ ringleader and had a
sexual encounter with her in the backseat of his mom's station
wagon.
Recently, Daniel graduated High school, but he had no idea
what to do next. He was never a strong student, so college
seemed out of the question. However, he knew that he had
some talent as a fighter. Either way, he knew his mother
needed help with money and he knew he needed to do
something. So Daniel decided to put his skills to use and try
out for an MMA TV show that was holding tryouts for a big
money tournament in Amsterdam. He sent in his audition tape
labeled “Daniel ‘The Kid’ Musso” to Blood on the Canvas for
their third season. To his surprise, Daniel was selected to be a
cast member. He is ready to make his mother proud and honor
the name of his deceased father.

Fighter Name: Byron Harrison
Manager: Ethan Finch
Hometown: Reno, Nevada
Fight Camp/Alliance: Undisputed MMA
Throughout the entire month of November, the fourth most
trending topic on Twitter was: "Ex-Champion gets knocked out
in night club brawl." At a trendy Las Vegas nightclub, a fight
broke out leaving a world class professional athlete sprawled
out on the floor. The crowd gawked at a teenager of average
build who stood over the fallen champion, shouting intensely.
The loudmouth identified as Byron Harrison dropped a
multitude of “F-bombs” before being detained by security. MMA
forums were overwhelmed with new threads talking about the
defeated ex-champ. Everyone claimed to either be there, or
know a guy that knew a guy that was there, but more often
than not, they were simply trolling. No one knew for sure what
really happened, frankly, because everyone in attendance was
either drunk, or high. Some threads claimed that the champ
started the argument and threw the first punch, while others
told a totally different tale where Byron pulled a knife on the
champ outside the club.
Byron started replying to threads. Within a week he was doing
interviews, explaining his side of the story. He claimed he was
the victim and he was just defending himself from a drunken
meathead that was infuriated when he asked for an autograph.
He sold the story to everyone that listened. The public
sympathized with him and regarded his as a hero. Enjoying his
new-found popularity, the 18-year old from Reno could be seen
everywhere in Las Vegas. For the month of November, Byron
Harrison was the champion of the average man.
It all disappeared in an instant. A video on Youtube titled
"Byron Harrison – FRAUD” told another story Taken by a cell
phone, the 2 minute long clip showed Byron running up from
behind the fighter and hitting him over the head with a beer
bottle. The champ dropped and Byron hid to ride out the storm
of punches. When everyone had calmed down, Byron stood up
and starting shouting as if he did something worthwhile. There
was no man more hated in MMA than Byron Harrison
After seeking his manager’s advice, he was told that the only
way to find redemption in the public's eye is to get into the
cage and fight for real. His manager went on to say, "I know of
a tournament being held in Amsterdam..." And so “Heavy
Handed Harrison”/”The Fraud” makes his way to the BOTC
TUF show."

Fighter Name: Lertphong Thong-oon
Manager: Joe Arschtreter
Hometown: Chiang Mai, Thailand
Fight Camp/Alliance: None
Lertphong Thong-oon grew up in Thailand. His father died of a
respiratory illness when Lertphong was only a baby. His
mother moved to Bangkok for work and left the child in the
care of his grandfather. The woman would never return to
reclaim her child. Although life had been harsh for him so far,
Lertphong embraced his living situation and made the most of
it. His grandfather was a master in Muay Thai and trained the
boy as soon as he could walk. He loved the boy and gave him
the nickname “Sonny” after a beloved dog he had as a boy.
By the time Lertphong was a teenager he became well known
in the region as a Muay Thai phenom. Stories circulated about
a huge Thai warrior that could smash rocks with his elbows
and knock down trees with his kicks. Lertophong’s grandfather
died just 2 years ago, he moved to Bangkok to live with his
mother.
After a life without knowing anything about her, he was forced
in to an uncomfortable situation. She had done what she
thought was best for the two of them, but had not been a good
mother. She had moved up the career ladder and was a
supervisor at her factory job. She worked long hours, but
money was no longer an issue. To compensate for her lack of
an emotional connection, she attempted to earn the teen’s
affection by purchasing him anything that he could desire. One
of these gifts was an XBOX360 along with a copy of UFC
Undisputed 2009. Lertphong became obsessed with the game.
He dreamed of becoming a successful MMA fighter. So he
joined a martial arts gym and had his mother pay for the
training.
For the next 2 years, he trained hard honing his Muay Thai as
well as developing other skills essential to the MMA game.
After working his way around the local fight circuit as a Muay
Thai and MMA fighter, he turned professional.
Lertphong is still an avid video game enthusiast. While
searching the forums for the new UFC game, he found out
about the Blood on the Canvas tournament. He filmed an
audition tape and sent it to the show’s producers. He looks at
the upcoming tournament is his big chance to start making a
name for himself.

Fighter: Rocket Mann
Manager: Nick Burnett
Hometown: Tokyo, Japan
Fight Camp/Alliance: None
Originally born James Izzuki, Rocket Mann grew up in the
slums of Tokyo Japan. His mother was a prostitute that got
pregnant on the job. He lived with her until he was 7 years old.
Until that point, he had spent his whole life around hookers and
nd
drugs, but it wasn’t until his mother overdosed for the 2 time
that he ran away from home.
It was tough for a 7 year old boy to survive on his own, so
James joined up with a group of other homeless children. Not
long after joining they made him their unofficial leader. When
Rocket was 9, he was invited to join the Tri Dui Clan, a street
gang that dabbled in just about everything that was illegal.
They promised the boy shelter, food, and some money to fill
his pockets.
One member of the gang introduced James to martial arts. He
learned "Hwa Rang Do", a Korean martial art focused on
fighting techniques, weapons, spiritual training, intellectual
enhancement, and artistic pursuits. He learned from Grand
Master Lee, an old man whom had to flee from North Korea to
Japan after the Korean War. Rocket still worked for the gang,
but his interest in martial arts grew everyday. He and the gang
would sneak in to Pride Fights and soon they were all hooked.
So James went to Grand Master Lee everyday learning as
much as he could. The Master was fond of the boy and
welcomed him to live with him in his home.
When it came time for James to quit the gang, they allowed
him to go. They fully supported his decision to focus primarily
on fighting, just as long as they could come along for the ride.
At 15 years old, he participated in tournaments all over the
world. After winning 3 gold medals at the World Martial Art's
Games, he decided he would dedicate his life to Mixed Martial
Art's competition. He also decided to change his name to
“Rocket Mann” to gain greater appeal and name recognition in
the MMA world.
Rocket achieved great success in the amateur ranks and once
he turned 18 years old he decided to immediately turn pro .He
tried out for the BOTC show and his Master is eager to see
how he does!

Fighter Name: Dominic Delmar
Manager: Kelly McGrady
Hometown: Postville, Iowa
Fight Camp/Alliance: MMALinker.com
Dominic Delmar was born into a family of hard working farmers
that went back for generations. Living in the town of Postville,
Iowa, his parents didn't want this for Dominic. They wanted him
to get a good education and to have an easier life than they
had.
Dominic was an honor roll student, always at the top of his
class, and was a great all-around athlete. He seemed to learn
fast whatever subject or sport he was focused on, but none
really captured his interest until he found a Muay Thai gym in
the next town. He joined and instantly fell in love with the sport.
The 1 on 1 competition was so much more exhilarating than
team sports, and he felt like I helped him become aware of
what he was really capable of.
Dominic wasn't very good at Muay Thai early on, but by his
second year he had put on a lot more muscle and was starting
to compete with the rest of the gym. By time he had graduated
high school he was one of the gyms top strikers. However, he
is was not satisfied and knew he still had a lot to improve on.
Dominic graduated around the top of his class. Although he
was primed and ready for college, he wasn't sure what he
wanted to do what his life. His parents’ farm was not doing well
at the time, but they insisted that they would find a way to pay
for his schooling, even if it bankrupts them. Against his parents’
wishes, he decided to hold off on college for a while and
concentrate on his training.
Desperate for money for college and for his parents, Dominic
turned to the fastest growing sport in America; MMA. After only
a few amateur fights, Dominic decided to go professional. He
was on the fence about the idea, but then he heard about the
BOTC show he knew that was for him. He decided to send in
his audition tape for the show and has been training rigorously
trying to get into the best physical shape he can in hopes of
getting accepted. Dominic made the cast of the show and is
now a professional fighter ready to prove his worth.

Fighter Name: “The Gamer” Nick Lambose
Manager: John Doe
Hometown: Montreal, Quebec, Canada
Fight Camp/Alliance: MMALinker.com
Born in Quebec, Canada, Nick Lambose has always been a
typical boy. He had grown up as an average student. He
performed well on tests, but did not consistently complete his
homework or projects. He was also a good athlete but always
preferred video games over playing sports on the field. His
parents always believed he was capable of achieving much
more, but the boy was just never really committed to any one
activity.
Nick was always popular among his peers. Able to adapt to
any situation, he found it easy to make friends. Once in high
school, he continued to be a typical kid, although he often
found himself in trouble with his parents. He loved to party,
smoke weed, chase women, and play video games.
Once he graduated high school, Nick had no clue what he
wanted to do. Junior College was an option, but he hated
school. His father told him that if he wasn’t going to school, that
he’d better get a job or move out of their house. Nick’s friends
are the ones that found his calling.
Of all the competitors on the show, Nick Lambose is the only
one that haw never had any real combat training. He has had
no amateur fights, has never been to an MMA event, and we
are pretty sure he doesn’t really know all the rules. None the
less, he has become a professional MMA fighter. At a party,
one of Nick’s friends dared him to try out for an MMA reality
show that was holding open tryouts. Although he despised gym
class and had never taken a martial arts class before, he
figured “What the hell? Why not?” He had learned how to drive
playing Gran Turismo, so why couldn’t he learn how to fighter
playing Street Fighter? Since then, he has been putting in as
much time playing fighting video games as possible, hoping to
pick up a few extra techniques while maintaining his level of
competition. Nick thought he could win some cash based
purely on his background in video games. In his opinion MMA
is little more than fast thinking and quick reflexes. Besides, he
bet his friend a case of beer that he could do it and he’s not
about to lose that one. Either way, we will all find out soon
enough.

HOW TO CONTRIBUTE TO THE SHOW
Unfortunately, if you haven’t already signed up to be a
coach or fighter on this season of BOTC, it’s already too
late. But don’t go commit ritual suicide just yet. There are
still ways for you to participate in the show.
Have a Fighter on Season 4
Season 4 of the show is set to start in March of 2011.
The tentative location for the show will be Amsterdam.
We are still undecided on what the weight class and age
limit restrictions are going to be, but if you think you
might be interested in joining, open up a free spot in your
roster and start working on your character’s background
story. I will not be accepting applications until March, so
don’t bother sending us anything until then.
Be a Host Gym for Season 4
Although we wanted to set up private gyms for this
season of BOTC, we could not work out the logistics in
time. What we would like to have in season 2 is for each
team to have its own gym. This will enable coaches to
set sparring schedules, bring in the right trainers, and
introduce exclusive training partners. This will give
members of one team a distinct advantage over the
other. The private gym would have to host the show for 4
months and work with us on the gym fees. So if you are
a VIP and you don’t own a company, why not create one
for season 2. We will help your gym get off the ground
and give you plenty of exposure.
Be a Host Org for a future Season
Although we have an org in mind for season 4, things
may change. If you think you’d like to host the BOTC
competition in the future, PM Buster Gloves. We plan on
running this show for multiple seasons and would like to
move to different cities to give the show global coverage.
Run a BOTC Affiliate Show
Depending on the success of season 1 of BOTC, we
may seek to run affiliate shows. What I would need is for
someone to take over the show and run it as a spin-off
competition. It may make sense to keep BOTC in the
United States, but then also run a BOTC Europe and
BOTC Asia/Australia. Just realize that running this show
is a lot or work. You will need to maintain the forums,
answer all questions, schedule the events, set the
matchups, and provide whatever multimedia material is
needed (such as doing your own ads, designs, and

Be a Coach on Season 4
We are looking for 2 good coaches for next season of
BOTC. We want to spread the wealth and give everyone
a chance to participate. As a coach you should be able
to offer advice to your team, provide sparring partners
when necessary, and have plenty of cash to back you
up. It works best if the Coaches run a company. This
way you get to promote your company on the show.

Other than the chance to promote your company, there
really is no other incentive to be a coach, but at least you
get to be part of something bigger than just one fighter.
Sponsor a Fighter
Some of the participants on our show are noob
managers. They face a disadvantage going against
much more experienced and financially sound
managers. So why not help out? Sponsor a fighter and
help him pay for his gym fees or provide sparring
partners for him. Any company that sponsors a fighter
for the show will be promoted on the show.
Sponsor the Show
If you like what we are doing here and you just want to
donate some cash to help the cause, you can contribute
money towards the prize pool. Participants of the show
will receive 100% of your donation and you will be
publically promoted for your generous contribution. Plus
you can write it off on your taxes…not really.
Write Something
Typing all this fluff material is fun, but it gets tedious. If
you want to submit an article to the Magazine, please
PM BusterGloves. Your article should be related to the
show, but can be about anything. You might write about
the lives of the fighters, their interests, or their fighting
styles. You might write a column where you analyze the
fighters and make your predictions about who will win.
You might take a look at injuries and unique training
routines. You might write about the BOTC organization,
its coaches, its staff, or its fans. You might do an
interview of a significant figure in the show. You can
even write about some of the hopefuls that tried out for
the show and didn’t make it. Write about whatever you
want, the MMA world stretches into every facet of human
life. Just try not to kiss too much ass or promote yourself
too much. As editor of the Magazine, I will proofread
your submissions and edit for content and grammar, but
you will receive credit for each piece you write.

I need help designing stuff for the show. If you are a
graphic artist and think you can help, let us know. We
will find work for you. We need advertisements, posters,
and animated gifs. If you are good with .avi’s you can
help us make a commercial or even the opening credits.
If you want to make your own prediction show or recap
show where you talk about BOTC, just put it up on
YouTube and we will link it. If you want to make a radio
show about BOTC, we will link that. If you are musically
inclined and want to make a theme song, please do so.
