Skills’, ‘Behavioral Skills’ and Business Management subjects, with a near total penchant for
‘Human Resource Management and Development’, a subject taught to students of Business

Prof. Girish Phatak

Mr. Girish Phatak is currently Director of Infostar Business Solutions has obtained B.E. from
V.J.T.I. Bombay in First Class with Hons. 1986 and Master of Management Studies ( M.M.S.) from
Pune University in First class with Distinction 1991. He is also Qualified Lead Assessor in ISO 9000
from BSI UK and Master Black Belt in Six Sigma from SAC USA

More than 20 years of total work experience, out of which 12 years in various blue chip companies
such Philips, Zensar Technologies, Black & Decker and Arvind Mills Ltd. in various functions such as
Operations, Materials and Logistics, QA and ERP implementation and around 8 years of experience
in the training and consultancy.

Conducting training programs and handling consultancy assignments for various companies in
India and abroad in the areas such as Six Sigma, Quality Function Deployment ( QFD ) , ISO 9000,
TQM, Statistical Process Control, Enterprise Solutions, Estimation Techniques , Function Point
Analysis , Software Project Management, CMMI, World Class Manufacturing, Operations
Management, Modeling Supply Chain Management and Customer Relationship Management.

Teaching as visiting faculty simultaneously for more than 12 yrs in reputes management institutes
in Pune. in various subjects such as Operations Research, QT in HR, Financial Modeling, Marketing

Management, Cases in Operations Management. Written book on Business Statistics which is
published by Tech max publication. Written Twelve books for various Distance Learning Centers
including four books for Symbiosys Center for Distance Learning in the subjects TQM, SCM, BPR,

Evaluation Pattern

The assessment/ evaluation for the above core subjects will be done on continuous basis for
internal marking for 40 which will be in the form of Assignment based on the type of subject.
There will two assignments and the date of submission will be informed later.

At the end of each semester a written examination for 60 marks will be held on each of the core
subjects. The passing percentage will be 50% for the internals as well as the externals. A
participant needs to clear both the internals as well as externals separately.

Code of Conduct

Attendance Rules:

Every student is expected to attend 100% lectures. However, considering the work commitments,
a student can avail a relaxation of 25% of attendance. If the attendance of any student falls below
the stipulated 75%, she/he will not be allowed to write semester end exams.

Examination Rules

All Internal Assessments as well as end term examination is mandatory.

The student shall be eligible to appear for maximum two continuous attempts (1 regular exam
and 1 backlog).

Standard of Passing:

The standard of passing is 50% marks, in each paper as separate head of passing i.e. internal and
external. Each subject is allotted 100 marks.

Library Rules:

The library functions from 9.00 a.m. to 6.00 p.m. for borrowing books and the Reading hall is
open from 9.00 a.m. to 6.00 p.m. during most of the academic session. Library hours are subject
to change and all changes, if any, are notified on the 'Library Notice Board' from time to time
basis.

Borrowing Facility:

One Book is issued for 4 weeks


The issue system:

• The Library catalogue is available on-line. Public Access Catalogue popularly known as
OPAC which can be accessed at Lavale campus form anywhere.

Overdue charges:
• If the Books are not returned on the due date, students have to pay an Late charges Rs. 2 /-
per day per book.

Loss of books/library tickets

a. Members are responsible for the books issued on their library tickets. Loss of library
book /tickets should be reported immediately in writing to the librarian.
b. If a book is lost by a member he/she should replace the book with overdue charges, if
any.
c. The lost book will have to be replaced by the member within fifteen days or before the
semester ends, whichever is earlier from the date of issue.

d. For Lost book, members to pay the book price of the as per accession register with any
dues.

e. Payment for the lost book is to be made only to the SIBM counter person and a receipt is
to be obtained from him/her.
