STANDARD 8 - Information Literacy SkillsThe competent teacher will develop information literacy skills to be able to access,evaluate, and use information to improve teaching and learning.

I believe this standard is referring to teachers accessing and using evaluationinformation to enhance their teaching and improve their students' learning. Standard 8talks about competent teachers being able to interpret information to evaluate theeffectiveness of their teaching and the understanding of their students. The competentteacher can use information, such as grades and rubric results, to improve their instruction.
2. Explain how the artifact you chose demonstrates your understanding and applicationof the standard.
The artifact I chose, the online grade book, demonstrates my understanding andapplication of the standard because it uses information from assessments to convey thelevel of students' understanding. Teachers can use the online grade book to comparewhich tasks and concepts students struggled with and which ideas do not reteaching.Teachers can use the online grade book to evaluate which students are struggling, whattype of assignments they are not as strong with, and where intervention is needed.Teachers need to use their knowledge of how students participate in class and the resultsthat the grade book shows to see where students need support and assistance.
