FOREWORD
BOOK ONE of the Illustrated Phytotherapy is the beginning of anEncyclopedia of herbal therapy. It is the intention of the author to publish once a year one of these herbbooks covering in a few years all the herbals that have been and areused as medicines.Herbal therapy is as old as the human race but has been for one reasonor other grossly neglected. To revive the herbal healing art is one of thepurposes of these books. Having been in the herb business for overtwenty-five years, the experience gained during that time might qualifyme to a certain extent to compile these books.Herbs are dehydrated uncultivated vegetables rich in vitamins, enzymes and minerals and are therefore extremely valuable as food. The running of the human machinery depends on food and in theherbal kingdom we find the best material to feed our glands to performtheir functions properly. A trial of these herbs will convince you of theirgreat value.Hoping that my efforts will help to spread the science of herbal therapyand thus help thousands and thousands of sick people to better healthand greater happiness, I am,Sincerely yours,THOMAS DESCHAUER.
