Prayer Bulletin No. 21b
Public Worship on the Lord's Day is very important. It is not only @
tremendous privilege, but a definite responsibility.
‘Xe shall keep My Sabbaths, and reverence My Sanctuary" (Lev 19.30).
Wot forsaking the assenbling of ourselves together, as the manner of
sone 48; but exhorting one smother, end go much the more as ye eee the
day approaching (the Day of His Coming) .(Heb 10.25).
‘Let _us come prepared! "Preyare thine heart..." Job 11.13. "Prepare to
est thy God" (Anos 4.12). We should spend some tine alone with God
before we come to Church. Ask Him for a clean heart (Psalm 24.4) and
a right attitude toward Hin (Eccl 5.1-2)..... He says, "Wate your step"
We shoula prepare also to be a blessing io others. Hvoxy one of us has
an influence; our very presence has an effect. John 7.30; PS 34.5.
Approach, speak to, and shake hands with others. Be friendly! Make
others feel that they are wanted, welcome. Make your Ghuren the friend-
Liest place on earth!
Hnter_into Worship. "Enter into His gates with thankegiving, end into
His courts with praise; Be thankful unto Hin and bless His name" Bs 100.
June in = Lift your heart, relax and enjoy Eis presence! Be alert to
Yhe Govings of the Spirit, to His Voice and to the Word. "Speak Lomi,
for Thy Servant heareth".
Be_xesponsive. Enter into the worship of the Assembly. Adore your
Precious Lord! Don't be mute! "Let everything that hath breath, praise
‘the Lora". During the preaoking a hearty "amen", "Preise the Lord" or
"Hallelajah" shove that you are still alive (or awake) . This does
help the preacher.
‘aking part in prayer, use of the Gifts, testifying, ete., does help
Senos TEE cies yolesets)
Singing. How we ehowld thank Ged for the beautiful hymns, what marvell-
‘ous Vehicles of worship (and the Choruses too). Baca is written with
a purpose - for worship, testimony, encouragement, ete., Think of the
words you are singing (so many hymis etc., are sung mechanically, and
it is 8 sin to take God's name in vain) Sing heartily!
Praying in public - Assenbly prayer is not private prayer. The person
Praying is leafing others. He should never tse the perdonal pronoun
"I" or me", but rather "we" and "us". The others in the meeting
should ve listening, following the prayer, and backing it up vith their
“amens". If the necting is left open for’ prayer, BB HEADY! Do your
part to avoid those long pauses that kill a meeting,
Brey in the Spirit - Drink deeply of the Holy Spirit and cast yoursel?
upon Him before you rise. Pray a prayor that lifts - not a dirg.
Pray with thankfulness ond praise! Pray in victory!
‘Speak up! Speak out, and clearly! Remember you are leading others!
Very soft prayer, th&t cen hardly be heard tends to danpen the meeting
and because of the strain to hear, many switch off.
Don't pray too long! Those listening and following lose the power to
concentrate after two or three minutes.
Testitying. Be brief, to the point, and glorify Goa! Don't go into
wearying details. *e' careful of fill in words. Make your testimony
up-to-date, of spiritual experiences, answers to prayer, blessings
you have received fron the Word of God, Service, Eto. Bit never use
testimony tine to preach, hit-out at others, of glorify yourselZ.
Use the Gifts of the Spirit. The Gifts are operational by the will and
energy of the Spirit. They are for the Gsurch and not the personal
possession of the individual. We must be sensitive to His moving and
anointing. Differentiate between the Gift of Tongues and the Glossal-
alia. The Gifts mst be regulated according to the Word. The Gift of
tongues is used generally for short, sharp mesages. Stop, look, listen!
The Gift ox Prophecy is used rather (I believe) for longer message:
Expect to receive something from God fron every meeting. Be receptive
to His Word. Listen carefully, ve alert. Sovare of mental laziness and
‘the temptation to "tungbut". ‘Renember a meoting can be only as
spiritual, inspiring, refreshing, and reviving as those who attend
make it. Pray for the Meetings, Pray for your Pastor, and DO YOUR PART!
‘THE MGEPINGS ARZ BECOMING MORE AND MORE WONDERFUL
‘SEa YOU THERE? GOD BLSSS YOU!
