Itis clarified that: a) Considering the nature of activities involved, the Consumer Price Index for Agricultural Labour (CPIAL) would appear to be a natural choice for indexing MNREGA wages. However, it is for the administrative Ministry to take a view regarding the suitability of the index in consultation with various Ministries (like Commerce & Industry, Labour etc.) and professional agencies (like CSO, Labour Bureau etc.) concerned.
