were destroyed. And remember, it was
NEVER hit by a jet plane!

the actual implosion only takes a

“To many onlookers, the speed of
destruction is the most incredible
aspect of an implosion. How can
a building that took months and
months to build, and stood up to
the elements for a hundred years
or more, collapse into a pile of
rubble as if it were a sand
castle?

dust billows out around the
wreckage, enveloping nearby
spectators.”

 FEMA questions their own “fire-
fire-collapse”theory
• FEMA report [May 2002] authors conclude:
• “The specifics of the fires in WTC 7 and how they
caused the building to collapse remain unknown at
this time. Although the total diesel fuel on the premises
contained massive potential energy, the best
hypothesis [fire then complete collapse] has
only a low probability of occurrence. Further
research, investigation, and analyses are
needed to resolve this issue.”
• Unfortunately for investigators hoping to resolve this issue,
much of the evidence had already been destroyed by
FEMA by the time the FEMA report was published. For
example, nearly all the steel beams were shipped
hurriedly to Asia for “recycling.”

9-11 Commission Report (July 2004) Totally Ignores the
WTC 7 Collapse.

• One would have hoped that the issue would be
resolved by the 9-11 Commission, since they
claim to give “the fullest possible account of the
events surrounding 9/11.”
• However, without explanation, the 9-11
Commission Report simply ignores the collapse of
WTC 7 on 9-11-01.
• Overlooking crucial data is highly suspicious…
• FEMA admitted its best hypothesis –fire +
impact damage –had “low probability”
• And NIST’s WTC7 collapse analysis –long
overdue –first “decoupled” from Towers’
study, and now has been referred to a an
outside contractor!
• What is going on?
Steel Temps OVER 650 °C Required for Failure
(applies to all WTC buildings, in official theory)
• (Eagar and Musso, 2001, emphasis added.) "The fire is the most misunderstood
part of the WTC collapse. Even today, the media report (and many scientists
believe) that the steel melted. It is argued that the jet fuel burns very hot,
especially with so much fuel present. This is not true.... The temperature of
the fire at the WTC was not unusual, and it was most definitely not capable of
melting steel.
• A fireplace is a diffuse flame burning in air, as was the WTC fire… . The maximum
flame temperature increase for burning hydrocarbons (jet fuel) in air is, thus, about
1000 °C -- hardly sufficient to melt steel at 1500 °C.
• But it is very difficult to reach [even] this maximum temperature with a diffuse
flame. There is nothing to ensure that the fuel and air in a diffuse flame are mixed in
the best ratio... This is why the temperatures in a residential fire are usually in the 500
°C to 650 °C range [Cote, 1992]. It is known that the WTC fire was [such] a fuel-rich,
diffuse flame as evidenced by the copious black smoke....
• It is known that structural steel begins to soften around 425 °C and loses about half
of its strength at 650 °C [Cote, A. E., editor, Fire Protection Handbook 17th Edition,
Quincy, Maine: National Fire Protection Association, 1992 ]. This is why steel is stress
relieved in this temperature range. But even a 50% loss of strength is still insufficient,
by itself, to explain the WTC collapse... The WTC, on this low-wind day, was likely not
stressed more than a third of the design allowable... Even with its strength halved,
the steel could still support two to three times the stresses imposed by a 650

• Bazant and Zhou (2001) require 800 °C for structural steel failure.
• So the steel temperature would have to be 650 °C - 800 °C for failure: Eagar/Musso &
Bazant/Zhou

 NIST: Maximum WTC Column Temps < 600 C
The NIST Report: No evidence for steel temps above 600
ºC – Not hot enough to cause global failure.

• “Observations of paint cracking due to thermal expansion. Of the more

than 170 areas examined on 16 perimeter column panels, only three
columns had evidence that the steel reached temperatures above
250ºC: east face, floor 98, inner web; east face, floor 92, inner web; and
north face, floor 98, floor truss connector. [Towers.] Only two core
column specimens had sufficient paint remaining to make such an
analysis, and their temperatures did not reach 250 ºC. ... Using
metallographic analysis, NIST determined that
there was no evidence that any of the samples
had reached temperatures above 600 ºC .”(p 88/142)

 Whistleblower: Underwriter Lab scientist objects to NIST report
Letter from Kevin Ryan (UL) to Dr. Frank Gayle (NIST)
• Kevin Ryan wrote about Underwriter Labs
“performing tests on models of the [WTC] floor
assemblies. But the results of these tests… indicate
that the buildings should have easily withstood the
thermal stress caused by ..burning jet fuel [and
office materials].”
• [NOTE: Underwriter Labs set up models of the WTC building
components and tested them… but they did not fail as required
by the official story of 9-11.]
• “We know that the steel components were certified to ASTM
E119. The time temperature curves for this standard require the
samples to be exposed to temperatures around 2000F (1090 C)
for several hours…
• “Your comments suggest that the steel was probably exposed
to temperatures of only about 500F (250C), which is what one
might expect from a thermodynamic analysis of the situation.
• He states that the temperatures were insufficient to cause
collapse, and concludes:
• “This [“official”] story just does not add up… .”

• No other high-rise, steel-frame buildings have collapsed due to fires + damage.
What to do?
• Computer simulations!
• Page 142: “The Investigation Team then defined three cases for each building by
combining the middle, less severe, and more severe values of the influential
variables. Upon a preliminary examination of the middle cases, it became clear
that the towers would likely remain standing. The less severe cases were
discarded… The middle cases… were discarded after the structural response
analysis of major subsystems were compared to observed events.
• The more severe case (which became Case B for WTC 1 and Case D for
WTC 2) was used for the global analysis of each tower. Complete sets of
simulations were then performed for Cases B and D. To the extent that the
simulations deviated from the photographic evidence or eyewitness reports
[e.g., complete collapse occurred], the investigators adjusted the input, but
only within the range of physical reality. Thus, for instance,… the pulling
forces on the perimeter columns by the sagging floors were adjusted...
• Page 180: The primary role of the floors in the collapse of the towers was to
provide inward pull forces that induced inward bowing of perimeter columns.
• Objections: UK experts complained that “the core columns cannot pull the

Structural Engineers strongly criticize the
final NIST report on WTC collapses:

Engineer, October 6, 2005.
• “World Trade Center disaster investigators [at NIST] are refusing to show
computer visualizations of the collapse of the Twin Towers despite calls from
leading structural and fire engineers, NCE has learned.
• Visualisations of collapse mechanisms are routinely used to validate the type of
finite element analysis model used by the [NIST] investigators.
• The collapse mechanism and the role played by the hat truss at the top of the
tower has been the focus of debate since the US National Institute of Standards &
Technology (NIST) published its findings… .
• University of Manchester [U.K.] professor of structural engineering Colin Bailey said
there was a lot to be gained from visualising the structural response. “NIST should
really show the visualisations; otherwise the opportunity to correlate them
back to the video evidence and identify any errors in the modeling will be lost,”
he said… .
• A leading US structural engineer said NIST had obviously devoted enormous
resources to the development of the impact and fire models. “By comparison the
global structural model is not as sophisticated,”he said. “The software used [by
NIST] has been pushed to new limits, and there have been a lot of
simplifications, extrapolations and judgment calls.” (Parker, 2005; emphasis
added.)
• SE Jones raised some of the same concerns in his paper (see ST911.org, Jones)
• Here we have serious concerns about the NIST WTC collapse report raised by
structural civil engineers, AFTER the final NIST report was issued, augmenting the
arguments raised by a physicist.

Strong critiques of official FEMA report
• “Respected members of the fire protection engineering community are
beginning to raise red flags, and a resonating [result] has emerged: The
structural damage from the planes and the explosive ignition of
jet fuel in themselves were not enough to bring down the towers.
• “Fire Engineering has good reason to believe that the "official
investigation" blessed by FEMA… is a half-baked farce that may
already have been commandeered by political forces whose primary
interests, to put it mildly, lie far afield of full disclosure. Except for the
marginal benefit obtained from a three-day, visual walk-through of
evidence sites conducted by ASCE investigation committee members-
described by one close source as a "tourist trip"-no one's checking the
evidence for anything.
• “Some citizens are taking to the streets to protest the investigation
sellout. Sally Regenhard, for one, wants to know why and how the
building fell as it did upon her unfortunate son Christian, an FDNY
probationary firefighter. And so do we.
• “Clearly, there are burning questions that need answers. Based
on the incident's magnitude alone, a full-throttle, fully resourced,
forensic investigation is imperative. More important, from a
moral standpoint, [are considerations] for the… present and

• You may be interested in the fact that I have begun approaching discussions of
the WTC "collapses" in my classes. It began with the appearance of your [SE Jones]
article, last fall. I found the article just before class, and left it on my laptop so that
when I plugged in the laptop projector, the students would see it. (I tried to make it
look accidental.) Some were very interested, but I had a few violent responses…
(e.g. "I'm extremely offended”) and a few of the students acted as though they would
turn me in to the Dean. I'm embarrassed to say that I backed down.
• That was on a Friday (Veteran's Day). By Monday, I had my wagons in a circle and
was ready to take on the Dean, if need be. I felt the topic of the WTC was totally
appropriate to discuss in this class (Engineering Statics), and I could counter any
logical argument against it. By the end of the semester, at least a third of the class
was seriously questioning the official story. Also, I've been continually improving
my techniques for approaching this topic in my classes, and it has become very
rewarding.
• Last Thursday, I introduced the topic to my Strength of Materials class for the first
time, and about half of the class jumped in to the debate. The topic of the day was
material properties and how heat affects the strength and stiffness of steel. How
could I resist? I was so pleased to find that half of the class was willing to debate
the issue.
• As far as I know, I'm the only person in my department that doesn't buy
the official story, and this bothers me. I have approached a few others, but
they've each thought I was crazy, yet were unwilling to look at the
facts. So far, I've not been called to the dean's office or the chair's office
for covering this material.
• Beginning with your article, last semester, I made a separate folder on the class
web space where I put links to various articles and videos.
Civil Engineer’s comment on Official Reports
• 1. A couple of months back I examined [Jones] claims in detail.
Initially I was a bit incredulous - the sheer number of players
that would have to be involved is extraordinary** - so I
downloaded all the official reports basically expecting to find
holes in the good prof's hypothesis.
• I'm a professional civil engineer with a lot of experience in the
construction of major structures and I was just astounded at
what I found. In my COO days if my staff had put up reports like
that relating to a disaster on my patch, there is no way they
would have been accepted and I would have been asking some
very tough questions.
• The [official] reports are not at all convincing.
• That they are not is a serious worry. Take care. Regards, Ted

needed per building => ten trips by a ten men (for example)
• (Charges hidden in elevator shafts, set off via radio signals is
feasible. Thus, explosions could readily be started near holes

 Controlled demolition (“implosion”) due to pre-

by FEMA, NIST or 9-9-11 Commission)
• A demolition expert comments early on, New
Scientist, 12 Sept. 2001:

• “It looked like a classic controlled

demolition, said Mike Taylor of the National
Association of Demolition Contractors in
Doylestown, Pa.
• "If there's any good thing about this it's that
the towers tended not to weaken to one
side," said Taylor. "They could have tipped
onto other buildings..."
• “The collapse of the WTC towers mirrored
the strategy used by demolition experts. In
controlled demolitions, explosives are
placed not just on the lowest three floors but
also on several consecutive floors… The
explosions at the higher floors enable the
collapse to gain downward momentum as
gravity pulls the full weight of unsupported
higher floors down into lower floors in a
snowballing effect.
• "It cascaded down like an
implosion," says Taylor.”

• WTC 2: “When I looked in the direction of the Trade Center before it came
down, before No. 2 came down, ..I saw low-level flashes. In my conversation
with Lieutenant Evangelista, never mentioning this to him, he questioned me

with him because I thought -- at that time I didn't know what it was. I mean, it
could have been as a result of the building collapsing, things exploding, but I
saw a flash flash flash and then it looked like the building came down.

• A. No, the lower level of the building. You know like when they demolish a

standing right next to me… He said did you see any flashes? I said, yes,
well, I thought it was just me. He said no, I saw them, too.”

I have read your paper concerning the WTC towers collapse and
agree; Military thermite [which contains sulfur as an accelerant] is the
only explanation for the molten slag found weeks after the collapse.

could be used to drop the World Trade Center towers.

• What many people don't know, or haven't thought about, is that the massive cloud of dust that lingered in the air
may have caused thousands of people to develop lung infections, or long-term or fatal lung diseases.
The dust particles at Ground Zero were small enough to penetrate deep into the lungs and become lodged
causing permanent damage to the lungs. What's worse is what was in the dust - hundreds of tons of asbestos,
mercury from tens of thousands of fluorescent light bulbs, and lead from over 50,000 computers. All of these
toxic materials were released into the air when the 9/11 attack occurred.
The thousands of bystanders and heroic rescuers breathed in this hazardous dust, many unaware of the
long-term lung damage that would haunt them in the coming months and years after the 9/11 World
Trade Center attack. [Particularly since the EPA declared the dust to be “safe.”]
Tim Keller, a veteran NYC fire department medic, was one of the heroes. Not only was Keller one of the first
rescuers on the scene, he also spent weeks at Ground Zero searching for 9/11 survivors. Keller was diagnosed
with severe chronic asthmatic bronchitis about one year after the 9/11 World Trade Center attack.
When Keller became ill, he turned to the city for help - the city where he had
dedicated his life to helping others and saving lives. He was denied both worker's
compensation and any 9/11 benefits. The city did not believe there was a connection
between his condition and the 9/11 attack.
Eventually, Keller received a partial benefit, however it was no where near enough to
help him treat his lung disease. Keller soon became too sick to work, and too in debt
to fill his much-needed prescriptions. Tim Keller died at the young age of 41.

Protection Agency on Wednesday, saying the agency improperly let thousands of
people return to their homes and businesses after the World Trade Center
collapsed.
The lawsuit filed in U.S. District Court in Manhattan accused the agency of making
misleading statements about air quality after the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.
The lawsuit, which seeks class-action status, said the EPA left people
"unnecessarily exposed to potentially hazardous levels of
asbestos and possibly other carcinogens and toxic
substances."
It accused the agency and its leaders, including former EPA Administrator
Christie Whitman, of "a shockingly deliberate indifference to human
health."
The lawsuit seeks unspecified damages and reimbursement for cleanup and asks the
court to order a fund be set up to finance medical monitoring for conditions resulting
from exposure to trade center dust.
The agency, in a statement, said it had not seen the lawsuit and could not comment
directly on it, but defended its staff's "remarkable feats" after the attacks - including the
monitoring and sampling of air, dust, and river and drinking water.

Washington, DC based think tank. The group was established in
spring 1997 as a non-profit organization with the goal of promoting
"American global leadership". The chairman is William Kristol, editor

• Present and former members include several prominent members of
the Republican Party and Bush Administration, including Richard
Armitage, William J. Bennett, Jeb Bush, Ellen Bork (the wife of Robert

Donald Rumsfeld, and Paul Wolfowitz.

• The story of a covert intelligence operation called Able Danger came to light
just months ago. Previously undisclosed facts are still coming to light, due
primarily to the investigation spear-headed by Congressman Curt Weldon
(R-Pa), vice chairman of the House Armed Services and House Homeland
Security committees. The fact that Administration officials know about
Mohamed Atta and other 9/11 hijackers, long before 9/11, was
disclosed publicly on the House floor by Rep. Weldon on June 27,
2005:
• “Mr. Speaker, I rise because information has come to my attention
over the past several months that is very disturbing. I have learned
that, in fact, one of our Federal agencies had, in fact, identified the
major New York cell of Mohamed Atta prior to 9/11; and I have learned,
Mr. Speaker, that in September of 2000, that Federal agency actually was
prepared to bring the FBI in and prepared to work with the FBI to take down
the cell that Mohamed Atta was involved in… I have also learned, Mr.
Speaker, that when that recommendation was discussed within that Federal
agency, the lawyers in the administration at that time said, you
cannot pursue contact with the FBI against that cell… . So we did
not allow that Federal agency to proceed.

• The final 9/11 Commission report, released on July 22, 2004, concluded
that "American intelligence agencies were unaware of Mr. Atta until the day of
the attacks." This now looks to be embarrassingly wrong…
• Even the most junior investigator would immediately know that the name
and photo ID of Atta in 2000 is precisely the kind of tactical intelligence the
FBI has many times employed to prevent attacks and arrest terrorists. Yet the
9/11 Commission inexplicably concluded that it "was not historically
significant."
• This astounding conclusion--in combination with the failure to investigate
Able Danger and incorporate it into its findings--raises serious challenges to
the commission's credibility and, if the facts prove out, might just render the
commission historically insignificant itself.
• No wonder the 9/11 families were outraged by these revelations and called
for a "new" commission to investigate. "I'm angry that my son's death could
have been prevented," seethed Diane Horning, whose son Matthew was killed
at the World Trade Center.
• On Aug. 17, 2005, a coalition of family members known as the September 11
Advocates rightly blasted 9/11 Commission leaders Mr. Kean and Lee
Hamilton for pooh-poohing Able Danger's findings as not "historically
significant." Advocate Mindy Kleinberg aptly notes, "They somehow made a
determination that this was not important enough. To me, that says
somebody there is not using good judgment. And if I'm questioning the
judgment of this one case, what other things might they have missed?" This
is a stinging indictment of the commission by the 9/11 families.
September 10, 2001: coincidences or
foreknowledge?
• Newsweek 9/24/01: “On Sept. 10, NEWSWEEK has learned, a group of top Pentagon
officials suddenly canceled travel plans for the next morning, apparently because of
security concerns.”
• On September 10, 2001, Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld admitted at a press
conference that over $2,000,000,000,000 in Pentagon funds could not be accounted for.
Rumsfeld stated: "According to some estimates we cannot track $2.3 trillion in
transactions." (CBS News, 1/29/01) Such a disclosure normally would have sparked a
huge investigation. However, the 9/11 attacks the following day would assure that the
$2.3-trillion loss would remain buried, all but forgotten. On the evening of 9-11-01,
Rumsfeld went to Congress asking for more money for the military to “fight terror”and the
money was soon allocated.
• FEMA exercise Tripod II brought FEMA personnel to Manhattan on Sept 10:
• “... the reason Pier 92 was selected as a command center was because
on the next day, on September 12, Pier 92 was going to have a drill, it had

What “ORDERS”? Mineta’
s testimony
• Secretary of Transportation Norman Mineta provided provocative testimony
before the 9-11 Commission. He testified that he went down to the Presidential
Emergency Operations Center under the White House at about 9:20 on 9/11/01.
Vice President Cheney was there and in charge.
• “During the time that the airplane was coming in to the Pentagon, there
was a young man who would come in and say to the Vice President, "The
plane is 50 miles out." "The plane is 30 miles out." And when it got down to
"the plane is 10 miles out," the young man also said to the Vice President,
"Do the orders still stand?" And the Vice President turned and whipped his
neck around and said, "Of course the orders still stand. Have you
heard anything to the contrary?"

intercept the plane, since the plane was known for 50, 30, and 10 miles out and
yet never intercepted. The commission did not ask such questions, did not
include Mineta’ s testimony above in the 9/11 Commission Report -- a glaring
omission (Griffin, 2005), -- and removed the video of Mineta’ s testimony from the

• Mineta seems an honest man. The testimony of Secretary Mineta strongly

Why NO air-
air-defense on 9/11?
• The scrambling of fighter aircraft at the first sign of trouble is a routine
phenomenon. In the year period before 9/11, fighters were scrambled 67 times.

• "A NORAD spokesman says its fighters routinely intercept aircraft.
When planes are intercepted, they typically are handled with a
graduated response. The approaching fighter may rock its wingtips to attract
the pilot's attention, or make a pass in front of the aircraft. Eventually, it can
fire tracer rounds in the airplane's path, or, under certain circumstances, down

• "In October, Gen. Eberhart told Congress that 'now it takes about one minute'
from the time that the FAA senses something is amiss before it notifies
NORAD. And around the same time, a NORAD spokesofficer told the

The commander-in-chief of the Russian Air Force, Anatoli Kornukov said the
day after 9/11: "Generally it is impossible to carry out an act of terror on the
scenario which was used in the USA yesterday... As soon as something like
that happens here, I am reported about that right away and in a minute we are
all up." [Pravda, 9/12/01]
WHERE ARE THE FLIGHT RECORDERS?
Firefighter DeMasi reports: three flight recorders were found!
• Nicholas DeMasi was a firefighter at Engine Company
261 in Queens. He reported:
• "At one point I was assigned to take Federal Agents
around the site to search for the black boxes from the
planes. We were getting ready to go out. My ATV was
parked at the top of the stairs at the Brooks Brothers
entrance area. We loaded up about a million dollars
worth of equipment and strapped it into the ATV…
There were a total of four black boxes. We

and News media have said NO flight recorders were
ever found –certainly nothing has been released! e.g.

allowed them to fly hijacked planes for 1.5 hours without
their being intercepted and forced to land?
• Who promoted the “smoking gun”confession tape as
from bin Laden? And who promoted the assertion that

The Truth 911 movement
• Numerous people are studying these matters, called the “Truth 911
Movement”. Many live outside the US. These folks are generally
marginalized, by labeling them “conspiracy theorists”or “extremists”.
• Still, half (49.3%) of New Yorkers now believe that 9-11 was
planned or at least allowed by the Federal Government (Bush
Administration) according to a Zogby poll, fall 2004.
• “Conspiracy Theories”
• What, did the hijackers act Independently of each other, without
coordination? Four independently-hijacked aircraft flying around
America for nearly two hours?
• Of course not.
• So clearly there was a Conspiracy of some sort.
• The question remains: Who was involved, and why?
• A fully independent investigation is needed, with release of all
data held back, including over 6,000 photographs and 300 hours
of video tapes, samples of the molten metal found in the
basements of WTC 1,2 and 7, flight recorders. Questions need
to be asked about the orders on 9/11/01 discussed by VP
Cheney.
