Thank you for your quick response. Let me make sure I understand what
you are stating.

In the past this turkey event happened just prior to Christmas. I have
emails from the Harris County Republican Party showing this did happen
last year. The email had pictures.

You are telling me this will not happen again in the future.

Is this correct? Again, thanks for the quick response. I hope you
understand why I am so mad about this.

Good Morning Mr. Cobarruvias,

I just spoke to Principal Harding regarding your written
concerns. There was no such activity this year at JR Harris. As
you are aware, we do accept partnerships which are willing to
assist our children. At no times do we allow political banners
inside the school or promote on political party over another
one.

As always, thank you for sharing your concerns with us.

Mr. Sarabia,

I am deeply offended about what is going on at JR Harris Elementary

school in HISD and would like to know if this activity is actually permitted.
Please have someone respond to this and stop this activity.

For the past number of years the Harris County Republican Party has been
allowed into JR Harris Elementary to give out turkeys to the little Hispanic
children and their families . The Republican party brags about this being a
“95% Hispanic” school, as if giving Hispanics the bird will make their
parents republicans. I find it to be a cheap, insulting, political, stunt on tax
payers property.

Besides being a cheap political stunt, I am offended that the Principal of JR

Harris will allow the gop leadership, elected officials, and their banners
inside of our public schools and take their time to give out the free birds.
My tax dollars should not be used to promote the racist policies of any
political party.

I would like to know if it is the policy of HISD to allow political parties in the
schools or with the school’s permission. Regardless if I find it an offensive
political stunt, I would like to know if this is legal and within the policies of
HISD.
