century which is driven bymost sophisticated science and technology, huge mass of the world population issuffering from wicked drought driven poverty. It shows the malfunction of thegovernment to provide minimum food security to its own population. One side, massiveproduction of food grains is achieved by pouring innumerable fertilizers and pesticidesacross the globe, and another side nearly two third of the world population has nominimum food security. Particularly, late1990’s, due the liberalized policies of governments, the availability of food grains to the ill-fated poor gradually slashed down.By adding fuel to fire, of late, our policy makers from corner to corner of the world,diverting food grains for bio-fuel to overcome the shortage of convention oil deposits.Moreover, ruthless meltdown of world economy owing to global financial crisis resultsmammoth unemployment and swelling inflation. These two immediate outcomes of global negative economic cues are caused to occurrence of hunger deaths in manydeveloping and least developed countries. Until governments across the globe come with

At present the world experiencing a new face of hunger. A perfect storm of food security,global worming, diverting food to fuel and the rocketing world population explosion isplunging humanity into the inevitable crises of the 21

century by pushing up food pricesand spreading hunger and poverty from rural areas into cities. Millions more of theworld's most vulnerable people are facing starvation as food shortages loom and cropprices spiral ever upwards. And for the first time in history, say experts, the impact isspreading from the developing to the developed world. As per World Food Programme(WFP), More than 73 million people in 78 countries that depend on food handouts fromthe United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) are facing reduced rations this year.This is due to the increasing scarcity of food across the globe.At the same time, the UN Food and Agriculture Organization have warned that risingprices have triggered a food crisis in 36 countries, all of which will need extra help.World Bank reports say that global food prices have risen by 75% since 2000, whilewheat prices have increased by 200%. The cost of other staples such as rice and soyabean has also hit record highs, while corn is at its most expensive in 12 years.Interestingly, the increase of food grains is also pushing up the price of meat, poultry,eggs and dairy products. High prices have already prompted a string of food protestsaround the world, with tortilla riots in Mexico, disputes over food rationing in WestBengal and protests over grain prices in Senegal, Mauritania and other parts of Africa. If prices keep rising, more and more people around the globe will be unable to afford thefood they need to stay alive, and without help they will become desperate.
