You Did What?hose were the three inspiring words which launched this Christian ministryknown as Medical Assistance Programsin 1954. When Art Larson o the Schering Drug Company called the oices o theChristian Medical Society to say that hiscompany was donating 11 tons o medicines to be used to help people in poor countries, Dr. Ray Knighton said:“You did what?”What would transpire rom thatmomentous day in April 1954 could onlybe known to God. Who knew rom that moment that anew Christian ministry called MAPInternational would be born and over timenearly three billion dollars o lie-saving medicines would ind their way to helpheal the small bodies o children suering rom diseases and sicknesses you andI cannot comprehend nor easily pronounce their names. From that moment, God had plannedor MAP International to become aneective Christian health ministry to workor more than 54 years to save lives andhelp communities develop the capacity toimprove their own health and well-being.And rom that moment, God inspireddisciples like Ray Knighton to steward thisministry with a commitment toeectiveness, eiciency and accountability. So as you review MAP International’sannual report keep those three words inmind –
“you did what?”
Or, this is what God has inspired youand I to do through this ministry hecreated rom one single moment54 years ago.You did what? Well, last year, we provided more than $304 million inessential medicines, provided communityhealth education or thousands and prevented disease and sickness romspreading to countless others – all totaling an estimated 25 million beneiciaries o this Christian health ministry we know asMAP International. And we did all o this keeping ourcommitment to good stewardship. Our annual independent audits conirmthis, as do many charity watchdogs. Wehave been recognized by our peers or acommitment to uphold high standards. Webelieve that as Christians we should holdourselves to the highest standards, knowing that God has entrusted to us the resourcesneeded to carry out his work.Faithully,Sincerely,Michael J. Nyenhuis
