The Shenendehowa girls varsity track team earned second-place overall at the 42nd annual
Dartmouth Relays at Leverone Field House, Jan. 7 and 8.
The Plainsmen squad earned 60 points followed by locals, Colonie in fifth-place with 35 points,
Holy Names eighth with 24. Shaker High finished 15th-place overall with 15 points and
Schuylerville was 16th-overall with 10 points.
Shenendehowa captured three titles over the weekend, including the distance medley relay along
senior Alex Burtnick winning the 1,000-meter and sophomore Lizzie Predmore winning the 1-
mile seeded individual races.
On Friday, the Plainsmen quartet of senior Sam Crisafulli, junior Kelly Preston, senior Alex
Burtnick and junior Gina Stalica captured the distance medley relay in 12 minutes, 21.76
seconds.
Other locals also shined as Shaker High finished third at 12:38:08 with sophomore Kalyleigh
Lavender, junior Emily Vandenburgh, seniors Melissa Sheridan and Christine Coughlin. The
Colonie entrie of junior Amy Becker, sophomore Alicia Bousa, eighth-grader Kaite Schillaci and
freshman Jackie Malecki were fifth at 12:47.23.
The Greenwich foursome of sophomores Victoria Houser, Annie Grimmke, Sarah Lapham and
senior Betsy Edinger were seventh at 13:04.21.
Columbia High’s group of freshman Cali Palumbo, senior Anna Boughtwood, sophomore Eva
Kiehl and eighth-grader Kaylee Scott were ninth at 13:09.16. The Niskayuna four of junior Leigh
Ann Labate, freshman Emily DeWald, junior Kaleigh Higgins and junior Maggie Hensel were
tenth-overall at 13:10.64.
The Schuylerville foursome of seventh-grader Suzi Hanehan, senior Sarah Reape, freshman
Hailey Hampson and senior Sarah Palmer finished 13th at 13:30.31.
Academy of Holy Names finished 17th overall with a time of 14:28.87 with freshman Mackenzie
Kennedy, junior Alex Zegger, senior Emily Riedy and junior Sarah Rowan. Averill Park High
juniors Liz Robert, Nazmum Phillips, sophomore Jackie Wilsey and senior Emily Tucci finished
19th at 14:42.13.
Shenendehowa sophomore Lizzie Predmore captured the girls 1-mile seeded race Saturday with
a time of 5 minutes, 4.51 seconds.
Holy Names freshman Leah Triller was fourth at 5:10.15 and Greenwich sophomore Victoria
Houser was 16th at 5:28.21. Niskayuna junior Leigh Ann Labate was 23rd at 5:42.03.
Shenendehowa senior Alex Burtnick captured the 1,000-meter girls run in 3:03.25 followed by
Shaker senior Christine Coughlin in fourth-place at 3:05.26. Colonie junior Rachel Keller was
sixth at 3:08.76 followed by Holy Names eighth-grader Kaitlin Close at 3:08.99 and
Shenendehowa junior Gina Stalica eighth at 3:09.22.
Burnt Hills sophomore Schuyler Pryun was 13th at 3:10.12 and senior teammate Kayla DuBois
was 18th at 3:11.46 followed by Shen sophomore Caroline Hampton at 3:11.48.
Schuylerville senior Samantha Watson was 21st at 3:12.47 followed by Niskayuna junior
Maggie Hensel 25th at 3:14.16 and Burnt Hills sophomore Meagan Roecker 27th at 3;15.63.
Shaker senior Blair Burke was 30th at 3:17.24 followed by Colonie senior Katie Woodworth
32nd at 3:17.86, Greenwich sophomore Sarah Laphman 33rd at 3:18.94 and Shaker freshman
Laura Libruk 35th at 3:22.00.
Greenwich seventh-grader Tori Spiezo was 40th overall at 3:24.13 followed by Niskayuna
sophomore Anka Parzych 42nd at 3:25.00 and Columbia sophomore Alison Hernandez 48th at
3:39.83. Schuylerville senior Sarah Reape was 51st at 3:52.25.
Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake senior Otis Ubriaco captured the boys 2-mile seeded race in 9:27.10.
Niskayuna senior Marshall Pagano was 11th at 9:57.88.
Shenendehowa senior Will Gaffney captured the boys long jump with a distance of 20-feet 6-
inches. Niskayuna junior Ken Omiya was eighth at 18-8 and teammate, freshman Chris Lemelin
was 12th at 17-10. Colonie junior Jeremy Hoffman was 17th at 17-4.25 and Niskayuna junior
Dahne Duffy was 20th at 16-5.25.
Shenendehowa junior Mark Thomas threw himself into the shot put event, winning with a
distance of 43-feet 7.75 inches.
Ichabod Crane senior David Sauruaistis was fourth with a throw of 42-4.25. Frank Seitz led his
LaSalle trio with a throw of 36-5.0 for 26th. Seniors Nick Pakatar was 33rd at 31-4.50 and Mike
DeSorbo was 38th at 29-11.50.
Schuylerville senior Sarah Palmer captured the girls high-jump with a leap of 5-feet 4-inches.
