TEENS AGAINST GANGS VIDEO CONTEST
THE TEENS AGAINST GANGS VIDEO CONTEST (THE “
CONTEST
”) IS INTENDED TO BECONDUCTED IN CANADA ONLY AND SHALL BE CONSTRUED AND EVALUATEDACCORDING TO APPLICABLE CANADIAN LAW. NO PURCHASE ISNECESSARY.PARTICIPANTS UNDER THE AGE OF MAJORITY IN THE PROVINCE OFBRITISH COLUMBIA MUST HAVE A PARENT OR LEGAL CONSENT IN ORDER TO ENTEROR WIN. VOID IN WHOLE OR IN PART WHERE PROHIBITED BY LAW. ENTRY IN THISCONTEST CONSTITUTES ACCEPTANCE OF THESE CONTEST RULES (THE “
CONTESTRULES
”).
1. ELIGIBILITY.
To be eligible for this Contest, an individual must:(a) be a legal resident of the province of British Columbia;(b) be between the ages of twelve (12) years of age and eighteen (18) age at the start of theContest Period (as defined below); and(c) any entrant under the age of majority must have a parent or legal guardian sign on their behalfall necessary documentation in respect of this Contest, including entry forms and releases.Employees of Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (“
CBC
”), CFSEU – BC (“
Gang TaskForce
”), Taxi Canada Inc. (“
Taxi
”) and The Vancouver Sun, a division of PostmediaNetwork Inc. (“
Postmedia
”) (CBC and Postmedia collectively, the "
Sponsors
"), theirrespective affiliates, subsidiaries, related companies, advertising and promotionalagencies, and the household members of any of the above, are not eligible to participatein the Contest.The Sponsors shall have the right at any time to require proof of identity and/or eligibilityto participate in the Contest. Failure to provide such proof may result in disqualification.All personal and other information requested by and supplied to the Sponsors for thepurpose of the Contest must be truthful, complete, accurate and in no way misleading.The Sponsors reserve the right, in their sole discretion, to disqualify any entrant shouldsuch an entrant at any stage supply untruthful, incomplete, inaccurate or misleadingpersonal details and/or information.
2. CONTEST PERIOD.
The Contest begins at 12:01 a.m. Pacific Standard Time (“
PST
”) onNovember 30, 2010 and ends at 11:59 p.m. PST on February 28, 2011 (the "
ContestPeriod
") after which time the Contest will be closed and no further entries shall beaccepted.
3. HOW THE CONTEST WORKS.
Entrants will create a video with an anti-gang message and upload it to their personal YouTubeaccount. After it has been uploaded to YouTube, entrants will visit the Contest Websiteand complete and submit the entry form. The entry form must include a link to the videoon their YouTube account. The judges will select ten (10) finalists (the “
Finalists
”), basedon the judging criteria defined below, to attend an event to be held at the CBC studios onMarch 10, 2011 where each of the Finalists videos will be viewed. The judges will alsoannounce the Grand Prize Winners at the event on March 10, 2011.
4. HOW TO ENTER.
(a) There is no purchase necessary to enter the Contest. Enter using any of the methodsof entry outlined below. No entries will be accepted by any other means.(i) For no purchase entries, clearly print your name, complete mailing address, daytime telephonenumber, age at time of entry on a plain piece of paper, along with the Work (as defined below),and submit it to the Teens Against Gangs Video Contest c/o The Vancouver Sun, 200 GranvilleStreet, Suite 1, Vancouver, BC Canada V6C 3N3.
 
(ii) To enter in person, clearly print your name, complete mailing address, daytime telephonenumber, age at time of entry on a plain piece of paper and drop it off, along with the Work (asdefined below), at The Vancouver Sun offices located at 200 Granville Street, Suite 1, Vancouver,BC Canada V6C 3N3.(iii) To enter online, visit www.youtube.com (“
YouTube
”) and sign in to your account. Oncesigned in, upload the Work (as defined below) to your YouTube account. When the Work (asdefined below) has been successfully uploaded to YouTube, visit eitherwww.vancouversun.com/tagcontest (the “
Vancouver Sun Contest Website
”) orwww.cbc.ca/bc/features/TAGcontest (the “
CBC Contest Website
”) (the Vancouver Sun ContestWebsite and the CBC Contest Website collectively, the
“Contest Website”
) and complete andsubmit the entry form including the link to the Work (as defined below) on your YouTube account.(b) Each entrant must submit an entry form together with a thirty (30) second video with aclear and concise anti-gang message. The video may not contain any foullanguage or glamourization of drug use, depiction of weaponry or weapon use,violence, misogyny, racism or hatred. The vide must include thewww.youthagainstviolence.com URL and the
Teens Against Gangs 
logo whichwill be available for download on the Vancouver Sun Contest Website and/or theCBC Contest Website. The video must named as follows:
name – video name 
or
school/group name – video name 
and must be in one of the following YouTubesupported formats: WebM files, .MPEG4, 3GPP, MOV, .AVI, .MPEGPS, .WMV,.FLV. (the “
Work
”). Entrants shall keep a high resolution copy of the Work onDVD in the event they are selected as a Finalist (as defined below).(c) Each entrant acknowledges that: (i) by posting, transmitting, linking, uploading orotherwise submitting the Work to Contest Website and/or YouTube, you herebyirrevocably grant and assign to the Sponsors the unlimited right and licence, forthe full term of copyright or any extension thereof, to copy, adapt, transmit,communicate (and authorize the communication of, including public internetstreaming and broadcast use), download (and authorized download of), publicdisplay and perform, distribute and create compilations and derivative works fromsuch Work, and to publish, reproduce (including mechanical reproduction),perform and otherwise use and exploit the Work in any manner on the ContestWebsite and/or YouTube, and in any and all other media as the Sponsors maydetermine from time to time, in their sole discretion (including without limitationany mobile media such as phones, smartphones or other wireless enableddevices and applications),whether now known or hereafter devised, throughoutthe world, without further compensation. The Sponsors shall be entitled to editthe Work, and entrants hereby waive in favour of the Sponsors and their assignsall "moral rights" in and to the Work. Nothing herein shall obligate the Sponsorsto use or publish the Work in any manner; (ii) the Sponsors shall be entitled touse the Work without compensation or obligation to entrants; and (iii) there is norelationship of any type created, including without limitation any agency, orfiduciary relationship, as between entrants and the Sponsors, by virtue of thesubmission by entrant of the Work to the Sponsors hereunder.(d) By participating in this Contest, entrant represents and warrants that: (i) the Workdoes not contain any material that is libelous, defamatory, profane or obscene;(ii) the Work is original and all right, title, and interest (including copyright) thereinand thereto is owned and/or controlled by the entrant to the full extent necessaryto enable the Sponsors to use the Work as contemplated by these ContestRules; and (iii) the Work does not infringe upon the intellectual property or otherstatutory or common law rights of any third party.(d) Limit of one (1) entry per person during the Contest Period. In the case of multipleentries, only the first eligible entry will be considered.(e) All entries including the Work, become the sole property of the Sponsors and nonewill be returned for any reason. Entries must be received no later than the end of
 
the Contest Period. Entries will be declared invalid if they are late, illegible,incomplete, damaged, irregular, mutilated, forged, garbled or mechanically orelectronically reproduced. No communication or correspondence will beexchanged with entrants except with those selected for a fan favourite prize or agrand prize.(f) Entries submitted by mail must be received by the Sponsors no later than the end ofthe Contest Period, and must be in a separate outer envelope bearing sufficientpostage.(g) Entries received online shall be deemed to be submitted by the authorized accountholder of the e-mail address associated with the entry. For the purpose of theContest Rules, “authorized account holder" of an e-mail address is defined as thenatural person who is assigned to an e-mail address by an Internet accessprovider, on-line service provider, or other organization responsible for assigninge-mail addresses for the domain associated with the submitted e-mail address.Each selected entrant may be required to provide the Sponsors with proof thatthe selected entrant is the authorized account holder of the e-mail addressassociated with the winning entry.
4. PRIZES.
(a)
Fan Favourite Prize.
There is one (1) fan favourite prize (the “
Fan Favourite Prize
”)available to be won by the Fan Favourite Prize winner (the “
Fan Favourite Prize Winner
”) whosevideo receives the most views on YouTube during the Contest Period. The Fan Favourite Prizeconsists of a Two Hundred Fifty Dollar cash prize.(b)
Finalists.
Ten (10) Finalists, as selected by the judges in their sole discretion, will be invitedto attend an event to be held at the CBC studios in Vancouver on March 10, 2011 with the otherFinalists where the Sponsors will play each of the Finalists videos and announce the Grand PrizeWinners.(c)
Grand Prizes.
There are three (3) grand prizes (the “
Grand Prizes
”) available to be won bythe Grand Prize winners (the “
Grand Prize Winners
”) each consisting of: (a) a One ThousandDollar cash prize; and (b) an invitation to attend an event to be held at the CBC studios inVancouver on March 10, 2011 with the other Finalists where the Sponsors will play each of theFinalists videos and announce the Grand Prize Winners.(d) Prizes will be distributed within three (3) days after each Winner has been successfullycontacted and notified of his/her Prize and fulfilled the requirements set out herein.(e) Prizes must be accepted as awarded and cannot be transferred, assigned, substituted orredeemed for cash, except at the sole discretion of the Sponsors. Any unused portion of a Prizewill be forfeited and have no cash value. The Sponsors reserve the right, in its and their solediscretion, to substitute a prize of equal or greater value if a Prize (or any portion thereof) cannotbe awarded for any reason.(f) Shipped Prizes shall not be insured and the Sponsors shall not assume any liability for lost,damaged or misdirected Prizes.
5. WINNER SELECTION.
One (1) Fan Favourite Prize Winner shall be selected as follows:(a) On or about March 10, 2011 in Vancouver, BC, one (1) entrant with the highest number ofviews of their video on YouTube will be selected from all eligible entries received during theContest Period. Each entrant shall be eligible to win only one (1) Prize. The odds of beingselected as a potential winner are dependent upon the number of eligible entries received by theSponsors. Before being declared a Winner, the selected entrant shall be required to correctlyanswer, without assistance of any kind, whether mechanical or otherwise, a time-limited
