Fallen Soldiers

by: Matthew J. Koharchick

Fallen soldiers all around, Some are dying on the ground. Safely in our beds do we sleep, Because their lives they did not keep. Never forget what they have given, May they all be at rest and return to heaven. Though your bodies sacrifice may have begun to rot, Be at rest your souls, they shall not be forgot. Politicians watching by As soldiers continue to fight and die. Lies sent them off to war, Oil turned our military into a whore. But support them over seas, And watch them bring Bin Laden to his knees. To stop a holocaust at our front door, That is always a reason to go to war. Fallen soldiers all around, Some still lying on the ground. My brother's death did I see, My eyes were already in weep. All this blood shed in the field, What happened to that impenetrable shield? I thought America was indestructible and everlasting, Not as susceptible and vulnerable as every other human being. My brothers have met their fate,

My heart has turned to hate. Vengeance and justice now become one, I lay down my rifle and pick up the machine gun. I stand straight up. I ready my aim. Bullets and explosions intensify all around me, None of it can penetrate or be noticed by me. I fire my weapon directly into the enemy, And I scream with all my might. I heard not a word, not a sound, It was then I knew things were not right. Fallen Soldiers all around, I am still on the ground. All and death do I see, A cold, warm blanket suffocates me.
