STUDY OF DESIGNERS: I transcribed what 24 world bestdesigners thought every 15 seconds while they did realdesigning as part of building expert software systems usingartificial intelligence software. That showed me inadequatesoftware and psychology models of how creation gets done.CREATION AS A ROUTE TO EXCELLENCE: Later study of Excellence Science at the University of Chicago withits interviews of some 8000+ people showed me 54distinct ways people rise to the tops of alltraditional fields, one of which was creativity,another design,

innovation.INFORMATION DESIGN: Fascinationwith how the mind works led meto invent tools for operatingon structured patterns of thought,increasing the number of ideasthat common thought operationsgot applied to, and waysof structuring broad diversecomprehensive models of concepts not narrow causalpaths. This led toinvention of a new wayof writing where fractalidea patterns replacedusual prose, makingcount, names, &ordering of pointsvisible at a glanceon every pagenot hidden instrings of textlettering &sentencesneeding de-coding intopoints.DESIGN OF CULTURES: The unconscious routinerepertoires inside people that they do not have consciousaccess to, make us all icebergs---missing 9/10s of who andwhat we are. All cultures are high performances and bothare icebergs of routines no longer available to consciousinspection. To change “culture”, to “design” it one has toinstall motive, opportunity, and determination for extensiveprofessional practice. I learned to use arts to getgroups to surface the iceberg contents of cultures, replace, repair, and redirect them.
DESIGN OF MASS WORKSHOP EVENTS:Many parallel workshop teams, each doingdifferent procedures, obtained fromworld best experts, so the results of all teams combine into powerfuloverall products, allow work usuallydone slowly, invisibly by staffs tobe done quickly by many inhighly visible events with bigorganizational learningside benefits. I invented,designed, set up, & leddozens of types of such events for various groups.I used social auto-mata ideas toinvent new waysfor people tomeet.
