INTRODUCTION

n August of 1959, Ray Demere established HPs operation in BoeblingenGermany.
I
n the middle of 1969, Boeblingen began manufacturing the first HPcomputer products in Europe.
Boeblingen manufactured9876Aprinters and9874Adigitizers in 1980 and1981 for the European market.
One division made200 Series and500 Seriescomputers and other madeHP 250 computers for worldwide shipment and HP 3000 computers forEurope (split into two in 1984 )
By 1985, the Boeblingen General Systems Division introduced theHP260to replace the HP 250 in 1985.
 
At present it produces UN

servers, mass storage products andworkstations.

t offers 3,500 different products from low-end servers to high-endscalable systems.
These products are configured to order and there are more than 10,000options, resulting in millions of possible product combinations.
Eighty percent of the orders have to be manufactured within 24 h.
Annual revenues are nearly $2.5 billion, but daily product demand canvary widely, from $0.5 million to $16 million a day.
