The Y is the nation’s leading nonprot
organization for youth development,healthy living and social responsibil-ity. Our programs offer the youth of our community the opportunity to learnvalues and positive behaviors, whileexploring their unique talents and in-
terests. That makes for condent kids
today and contributing and engagedadults tomorrow.The YMCA of Northern Michigan of-fers youth programs from martial artsand youth sports, to after-school class-es and day camp. Scholarships ensurethat all children are included, regard-less of their ability to pay. Yearly, morethan 2,500 youth in our service areaparticipate in our programs, activitiesand events. The Y Day Camp for chil-dren ages 6-14 at Camp Pet-O-Se-Gaon Pickerel Lake serves more than 300campers per year. YMCA Leadershipbrings together middle school studentsto build leadership skills and tacklecommunity service projects. And the Y-Center is a great place for kids grades4th and up to hang out with friendsand have fun after school.You can be a part of something greatby getting involved with the YMCA of Northern Michigan. There are manyways to get involved. You can makea donation to the Y which will supportour mission-driven promise to includeall children in our programs, regardlessof their ability to pay. More than 35%
of campers each summer are on nan
-cial assistance. Scholarships are alsoavailable for memberships and programfees.You can join the Y. Your member-ship allows you to become a part of acommunity with world-wide recogni-tion, make new friends, receive regularcommunications and enjoy your favoriteprograms at a reduced rate.You can volunteer. Volunteers arethe heartbeat of the YMCA. When youare a volunteer at the Y, you are partof an organization whose vision is tobuild strong kids, strong families andstrong communities. As a volunteer,you could lead a class, be a role modeland mentor, serve on a committee or
board, help out in the ofce or at a spe
