For the rst me since its creaon in 1984, the annual Canadian Associaon of Planning Students ‐ L’Associaon Canadienne des Étudiants en Aménagement eten Urbanisme (CAPS‐ACÉAU) conference will proudly be hosted by students inthe School of Planning at the University of Waterloo. The 2011 conference oersa venue for collaboraon and discussion around the theme, Resilience: Planningfor Dynamic Futures. Topics such as increased and intensied energy shortages,populaon imbalances, environmental degradaon, climate change and incomegaps will be tabled. In a me where the local is global and experts may eitherchoose to ignore or befriend wikis, we seek to explore the complex systems we’re
part of through the lens of resilience.
CAPS‐ACÉAU is a non‐prot student‐driven organizaon that hosts an annualconference for Canadian planning students. The event brings together planningstudents from across the country to expand their knowledge and to engage indiscussions about urban and rural planning issues both in Canada and abroad. fessionals and academics, from across Canada, to explore progressive soluons totoday’s most pressing planning challenges. Students may also present their ownresearch, meet potenal employers and learn about excing jobs and researchopportunies in their eld.We are thrilled to feature a number of high‐caliber speakers, insighul mobiletours, hands‐on skill‐building workshops, as well as student oral, model andposter presentaons. Through World Café roundtable discussions a 2011 CAPS‐ACÉAU Waterloo Manifesto will be draed capturing the conference’s collecveview of resilient planning.
