For the rst me since its creaon in 1984, the annual Canadian Associaon of Planning Students ‐ L’Associaon Canadienne des Étudiants en Aménagement eten Urbanisme (CAPS‐ACÉAU) conference will proudly be hosted by students inthe School of Planning at the University of Waterloo. The 2011 conference oersa venue for collaboraon and discussion around the theme, Resilience: Planningfor Dynamic Futures. Topics such as increased and intensied energy shortages,populaon imbalances, environmental degradaon, climate change and incomegaps will be tabled. In a me where the local is global and experts may eitherchoose to ignore or befriend wikis, we seek to explore the complex systems we’re
part of through the lens of resilience.
CAPS‐ACÉAU is a non‐prot student‐driven organizaon that hosts an annualconference for Canadian planning students. The event brings together planningstudents from across the country to expand their knowledge and to engage indiscussions about urban and rural planning issues both in Canada and abroad. Theconference oers delegates the opportunity to collaborate with their peers, pro

fessionals and academics, from across Canada, to explore progressive soluons totoday’s most pressing planning challenges. Students may also present their ownresearch, meet potenal employers and learn about excing jobs and researchopportunies in their eld.We are thrilled to feature a number of high‐caliber speakers, insighul mobiletours, hands‐on skill‐building workshops, as well as student oral, model andposter presentaons. Through World Café roundtable discussions a 2011 CAPS‐ACÉAU Waterloo Manifesto will be draed capturing the conference’s collecveview of resilient planning.
