Name of Oficer Making Statement (Lest. rt, Micole Inti Seria No. Det, David A Washechek 04060 Probable Cause: On 01-22-11 a white pick up truck struck a pedestrian and @ 2005 Chevy Malibu (CO 183NYG) that was parked and occupied at the east curb in the 800 block of N. Lincoln Street. The driver, Renee [Link], received ‘minor injuries as a resuit of the colsion. The pedestrian, Jose Medina (a valet), was helping McFall exit her vehicle and died as a result of his injuries. The white pick up truck failed to stop at the scene to render aid oF leave the required information, fleeing northboun¢ on Lincoin, A cab driver followed the hit and run vehicle and obtained a license number of CO BO5VYF. The registered owner of the pick up provided information that led to @ party currently in possession of the vehicle. That party refused to provide the location ofthe vehicle On 04-25-11 @ Crime Stoppers tip was received that the hit and run vehicle was hidden behind a house in Commerce City. The vehicle (CO 895VYF) was found at that location and impounded. A separate tip was called in to the Aurora Police Department indicating that a party named Julian Quintana Rios had just left Aurora and was headed to ‘Commerce City to move the hit and run vehicle. The witness stated that Rios might have been driving at the time of the Colision or knew who was. Follow up investigation based on statements made by the witness, and evidence provided by the witness (in Aurora), led to Rios returning to Aurora where he was arrested. The evidence included admissions of hitting and kiting someone with his truck via text message. Rios was read his Miranda Advisement which he stated he understood and voluntarily waived, He admitted to hiding the vehicle because he was scared and the driver (at the time Of the colision) had asked him to hide it. He also admitted to sending the text messages to the witness. Rios stated that his real name used to be Eli Montes-Garcia (09-13-82). He had been arrested and spent lime in prson under that name and was departed to Mexico at the end of his sentence. This information was verified through computer research He then assumed the name of Julian Quintana Rios to re-enter the United States On 01/26/2011, a Felony Warrant for Vera-Nolasko, Norma Paola (06-28-79) was issued regarding the above incident. On 01/26/2011, the Derwer Fugitive Task Force received information provided by TIB Investigators regarding the above incident. This information resulted in the Fugitive Unit folowing the defendant, Guadalupe Bastida (11/12/1962), to 3610 Fairfax St. Oificers in the Fugitive Unit observed Bastida enter the alley behind the location and deposit a white plastic bag in a dumpster. Bastida then went into the lower apartment of the location. Officers went fo the dumpster and retrieved the bag and found it contained the registration of the suspect vehicle (CO 895VFY). Also in the bag were several documents related to Vera-Nolasko which showed that she resided in the Denver area. The fugitive officers then made contact with Bastida at the lower apartment of the location. Contact was made with Bastida by Detective Lucio. The interview was conducted in Spanish. Lucio asked the suspect if he knew Vera-Nolasko. He stated that this was his half-sister. Detective Lucio related to the suspect that the Norma was involved in a vehicular homicide at 900 biock of Lincoln Street.
