Protocol for Laptop Use in the Fine Arts
Classroom/Studio Procedures
Laptops are essential course material, and must be brought toclass daily. They will take the place of traditionalnotebooks as a means of note-taking, research andorganization.
Charging
Students are required
to
come to class with charged laptops.Students should recharge as necessary before class and duringadvisory. Students must bring their own power cord to class.Teachers will have power-strips available for students to usefor emergencies.
Common Method of Backing Up Student Work
In all arts courses, class notes, assignments, research andpresentations (including OneNote & PDFs) will to besaved/backed up to Student ifolder. All students in visualarts classes will keep digital portfolios and will be backedup on Dionysus.
Requirements with Regard to Notes/Note Taking
Students are required to take notes electronically usingOneNote. OneNote will have a Notebook for each class;teachers will decide how to organize folders for theirclasses. Faculty will use digital handouts, tests, writtenpapers and presentations. All courses will coordinate the useof laptops with the postings on the Portal and with coursewebsites.
Collecting Student Work
All student work assigned digitally will be collecteddigitally. All tests, written papers and presentations willbe done digitally. Visual art work will be photographed andarchived as part of their assessment.
