“As the rst company to create aminute repeater wristwatch in 1892,[Audemars Piguet] has become thebearer of this particular standard of  watch technology.”
For more than 100 years,
AudemarsPiguet has proven itsel one o the nest watchmakers in theworld. In act, it is a brand that has always kept a rm hand onthe great traditions o the past while setting precedents in thehorological industry. With its most recent oering, this historicwatchmaker continues a trend o blending one o the oldest o all complications, or eatures outside o the basic identicationo hours, minutes and seconds, with modern renement andaesthetic appeal. The Millenary Hand-Wound Minute Repeater withAudemars Piguet Escapement employs the repeater strikingmechanism, a complication rst invented in the 15th century toallow people within hearing distance to know the time withouthaving to see the clock’s ace. Though the mechanism requiredto accurately sound the hours, quarter hours and minuteswas developed early in the history o watchmaking, it is stillconsidered to be one o the most dicult complications toachieve and is now executed by very ew movement manuacturersin the industry. Among these manuacturers, Audemars Piguetwas an early innovator o the technology; as the rst company tocreate a minute repeater wristwatch in 1892, it has become thebearer o this particular standard o watch technology. Audemarswas also among the rst brands to revive this orm rom a longslumber, when, in the 1980s, they began to reinvestigate thegenre and produce new timepieces.

In this new offering from Audemars Piguet, both the classic and the modern are combined.
Homage
Despite the exceptional movement which operates the piece, the Millenary Hand-Wound Minute Repeater is not simplyan assemblage o various technologies or a catalogue o thecompany’s advancements. Rather, it is a well-crated blendingo science and art. In this vein, it should also be noted that theMillenary’s design is not an homage to the past, but instead paystribute to both classic and modern design. This recognition ismost visibly expressed in the watch ace itsel. The Millenaryis designed around an oval-shaped titanium case that is classicin its elegance and simplicity. The hours and minutes dial is ar rom a 17th century replica. Oset at the 3 o’clock position, it isslightly stretched so that the Roman numerals let o the center are longer than those numerals to the right o the center, creatinga subtle but intriguing visual eect. The slight skewing to the right o the hours and minutes dialleaves an opening on the let o the ace. Found to the let o the 7 o’clock and 8 o’clock numerals is a small seconds subdialthat allows or precise time measurements i necessary. Abovethe seconds subdial is a visible regulating organ composed o two balance springs placed “top to tail” that, as the manuacturer states, will “ensure automatic compensation or potential poisingfaws.” Together these three mechanisms border on and overlapeach other, leaving spaces and gaps between the subdials thatallow a partial view o the watch’s inner workings beneath theace, creating a look that is striking to say the least. The newest in a long line o masterpieces, the MillenaryHand-Wound Minute Repeater with Audemars Piguet Escapementupholds the best o a tradition while embracing the benets o technology and modern design. The price o this piece will begiven upon request.

For those with less relaxed timeconstraints, cruises as short as 12 days may also be haddepending upon availability. Regardless o the duration that onechooses, however, The Yachts o Seabourn is a premier provider o ultra-luxury worldwide cruises.

Ultra luxury reenters the equationfor the world of international cruises.

Although most travelers have
atone time or another aspired to cruise to exotic locations inluxury, it can be difcult to fnd a company that can truly ulfllthis promise and all that it means, rom proper stafng to excellentappointments. For this reason, it is reassuring to know then thatthere is at least one company still oering worldwide cruiseswhere luxury is not just a word but a way o lie.The Yachts o Seabourn was designed to provide ultra-luxurycruises to the world’s premier destinations while creating aliestyle or passengers that is both highly personal and utterlycareree. This company ocus originates rom President andChie Executive Ofcer Pamela C. Conover and is personifedby the sta. Conover explains that, in an eort to create the mosthighly personalized experience possible, the crew specializes in theart o the delightul surprise. This means that crew memberswill take the time to learn about the individual desires o Seabourn passengers in an eort to anticipate every need. While Conover ensures the highest standard o luxury andsta preparedness on Seabourn’s yachts, she is also determinedthat the destinations requented on the company’s tours be bothamong the most desirable in the world and the least known andhardest to reach. This aspect o Seabourn’s program is designedby Director o Itinerary and Land Development TimothyLittley. Littley crats diverse itineraries that blend marqueedestinations, such as the Amalf Coast, Italy, Alexandria, Egyptand Hong Kong, with ports in hitherto unknown and exoticlocales. In Conover’s opinion, the most exotic locationthat Seabourn requents is Nuku Hiva, the largest o theMarquesas Islands in the middle o the Pacifc Ocean. Shenotes that Nuku Hiva is difcult to reach by any means other than yacht, making it exotic, exclusive and a avoritedestination o passengers. While this combination o exotic and marquee locales setsSeabourn apart rom other cruise lines, the company also seeksto maintain an even balance between days at sea and in port. This desire is motivated by Conover’s personal preerences andexperiences; as she explains, she loves to explore new ports o call when the opportunity is available. However, she recognizesthat a new port may break into a passenger’s sense o relaxationas the serenity o the cruise is replaced with the excitementgenerated by exploring an unknown place. Though Conover looks orward to new experiences in dierent ports, she alsotreasures those mornings when there’s no pressure to goanywhere. As she says, reerring to the relaxation one can haveat sea, “I don’t get a lot o that in my lie.” Since most o her passengers also don’t get as much relaxation as they would like,a mixture o days on and o the water is as welcome to themas it is to the CEO hersel.An ocean cruise is the perect method o combining the nearlymutually exclusive pastimes o travel and relaxation. Travel isoten not very relaxing, but with a cruise on a ully appointedSeabourn ship, as Conover points out, “You cannot beat theconvenience o traveling on a ship. You unpack once, and then your perect, small hotel moves with you so you never have tocheck in or out, make a plane or train, [or] re-train sta abouthow you like things.” With The Yachts o Seabourn, you needonly worry that you have chosen a long enough cruise
