“Real WinteR”
As I am writing this, we have had many days o down right coldtemperatures and at least weekly dumpings o snow. For someo us, this would be called a “real winter”. Fortunately, handlingthe snow has been almost a pleasure with my new (to me)snow blower. Cutting a six oot swath through the snow romthe shelter o my tractor is just great. Still, clearing a thousandoot driveway and another thousand eet o parking and otherareas, is a two hour process. One minor downside to the blowingprocess is the requent loss o visibility due to a badly abradedrear window and the large plume o snow that you try and seethrough.. especially i it is windy.I have on several occasions walked or driven the driveway aera snow blowing session and wondered in amazement at whatdrunken idiot was at the wheel o the tractor as it obviously wandered without control in and out the driveway. Oh Well!! Inthe o season I hope to make some improvements that will solveat least some visibility issues. While the blower handles dry snow very well, it does seem tostruggle a bit with heavy wet snow. Clogging up in the chute isthe main issue!! I am thinking that a good cleaning, a couple o coats o paint and maybe some silicone spray might help withthis problem. I anyone has any other suggestions, by all meanslet me know!!Elsewhere on the home ront, Te Jet, doesn’t seem to mind a“real winter”!! At least, that is, once I have drug him away romthe toasty stove. Like most o us, he enjoys a lie o leisure butonce he gets his butt moving outside, he can get down rightenthused about sning out a resh scent (or even a stale one)!!Like us, once he overcomes that initial reluctance, he enjoysa walk immensely. So ar we have detected regular samples o coyote tracks but no actual coyotes standing in them. Te Jetand I have debated what the best strategy would be should weencounter a particularly nasty coyote. His preerred strategy isto run ... aster than me!! My thinking was, this would obviously be a amily dispute between he and his cousin and they shouldwork out there dierences amongst themselves. My one majorconcern is that they might decide that both o them were hungry and join orces or a large, slow, tasty meal.
