matching international standards (i.e.) 4 mazdoors, one EFLT driver
and one Tally Clerk and the average stuffing/destuffing charge is
Rs.375.00 per TEU.
2. Exclusive Container Freight Station for Export cargo has
commissioned recently with "ON WHEEL" loading facilities and
LCL shippers can advantage of this.
3. Exclusive Container Freight Station to handle import LCL
containers.
4. Terminal handling charges at Chennai Port Container Terminal is
Rs. 1415.00 for 20 containers and Rs. 2125.00 for 40 containers. The
handling charges are the lowest among the Indian ports.
5. ICD boxes are handled totally by Container Corporation of India
who receive incoming export loads from various ICD's in plot
allotted inside the port. The boxes are moved by their own tractor
trailers to the terminal for shipment. Similarly, import boxes brought
by the common feeder vessels are moved from the terminal to their
own yard, dedicated trains are moved out of the port to the respective
IDC's.
6. The Chennai port is well connected with inland container depots at
Coimbatore, Bangalore, Guntur, Anaparti, Hyderabad and New
Delhi. Weekly dedicated trains run on nominated days from Chennai
Port to IDC's.
7. Under the Long Term Berth Reservation Scheme introduced in
Chennai Port, feeder vessels in the Chennai-Singapore sector are now
available with fixed day schedule viz. on Wednesdays and Sundays.
This enables the exporters to plan export containers for those
dedicated vessels which would in turn reach Singapore in time to
connect to the mainline vessels.
