NEW LAW A new section of law to be codifiedin the Oklahoma Statutes as Section 25.1 of Title 20, unless thereis created a duplication in numbering, reads as follows:This act shall be known and may be cited as the "Code ofJudicial Conduct".

SECTION 2. NEW LAW A new section of law to be codifiedin the Oklahoma Statutes as Section 25.2 of Title 20, unless thereis created a duplication in numbering, reads as follows:An independent and honorable judiciary is indispensable tojustice in our society. A judge should participate in establishing,maintaining and enforcing high standards of conduct, and shouldpersonally observe those standards so that the integrity andindependence of the judiciary will be preserved. The provisions ofthe Code of Judicial Conduct are to be construed and applied tofurther that objective.SECTION 3. NEW LAW A new section of law to be codifiedin the Oklahoma Statutes as Section 25.3 of Title 20, unless thereis created a duplication in numbering, reads as follows:A. A judge shall respect and comply with the law and act at alltimes in a manner that promotes public confidence in the integrityand impartiality of the judiciary.B. A judge shall not allow family, social, political or otherrelationships to influence the judge's judicial conduct or judgment.A judge should not lend the prestige of judicial office to advancethe private interests of the judge or others; nor should a judgeconvey or permit others to convey the impression that they are in aspecial position to influence the judge. A judge should not testifyvoluntarily as a character witness.

SECTION 4. NEW LAW A new section of law to be codifiedin the Oklahoma Statutes as Section 25.4 of Title 20, unless thereis created a duplication in numbering, reads as follows:A. The judicial duties of a judge take precedence over all thejudge's other activities. The judge's judicial duties include allthe duties of the judge's office prescribed by law.B. In performance of those duties, the following standardsapply:1. A judge shall be faithful to the law and maintainprofessional competence in it. A judge shall not be swayed bypartisan interests, public clamor or fear of criticism;2. A judge shall require order and decorum in proceedings beforethe judge;3. A judge shall be patient, dignified and courteous tolitigants, jurors, witnesses, lawyers and others with whom the judgedeals in official capacity, and shall require similar conduct oflawyers, and of staff, court officials and others subject to thejudge's direction and control;4. A judge shall perform judicial duties without bias orprejudice. A judge shall not, in the performance of judicial duties,by words or conduct manifest bias or prejudice, including but notlimited to bias or prejudice based upon race, sex, religion, nationalorigin, disability, age, sexual orientation or socioeconomic status,
