Annual Huaraz Pa
or’s Conference
by Tommy Smith, REAP Team Member
This is a particularly busy andexciting time of the year for mehere in the Callejón de Huaylasand Huaraz. For a number of weeks many people have beenpreparing for this annual event thatcontinues in attendance. Picturedright was the main meeting placefor this year’s conference, theIglesia de Dios. We are expectedover 500 people from all over Perúto fill the sanctuary. Since mostpastors, leaders and Believershave little opportunity for formaltraining this event is an opportunityto learn as well as fellowship withother Believers. Topics includedhow to deal with alcohol abuse, recognizing sects, dealing withfactions in the church and others. While the number of participantswas not what we had expected, wewere greatly surprised in that wehave 8 different People Groupsrepresented this year.Representing 4 of them arepictured on the right. (L to R) JuanJulio Huaman - Huaylas Quechua,Elvis Shantiori - Ashanika, AquilesTapullima - Shipibo, Jhoni CenepoSangama - Quechua San Martinand Alfredo Guimaraes - Shipibo. Pray that these men will find the information useful and willfind ways to apply it to the cultures they represent.
