98% of homes have a Home Computer, but do you know what makes one tick? What exactly allows
them to help in the ways that they do? What is inside?

The Power Supply is like our lungs. It allows electricity into the machine and thus supplies it to all the
parts of the machine through the many cables.

The Motherboard is the brain. Everything is connected to it, making it the most important part of
the machine. Without the Motherboard, there really is no Computer, making it the most
fundamental part. The Motherboard can be seen like a city with the Central Processing Unit at its
centre.

If the Motherboard is the brain, the Central Processing Unit is the heart and ensures the smooth
running of your machine. A very important part that everything you do is run through. The CPU runs
your programs and carries out orders. CPUs are becoming more and more powerful, meaning more
programs can be run at once.

The Graphics Card allows you to see what the computer is doing. Without one, your monitor would
be blind meaning that you can no longer see what it is you’re doing. A large fan keeps the graphics
card cool.

The RAM, or Random Accessed Memory, uses information in the very same way that we recall our
memories. It allows quick access to past programs and files by remembering what you were doing
last.

A Home computer is a powerful tool and there are many parts to it, just like a human body.
