interview, your performance
is being evaluated.
Therefore, you should be
ready.

evaluation period

Major focus:

- Is on how the nurse manager and the staff

member can work together to improve

performance in the coming year


RECOMMENDATIONS FOR
CONDUCTING APPRAISAL

1. Put the employee at ease.


- There must be a two way
communication
- Start the interview by giving an
introduction
- Just remember:
- Sender-code-receiver-feedback
2. Clearly state the purpose of the
appraisal interview
- Improvement oriented
theme
3. Go through the ratings one by one with the
employee
-Provide examples of behavior that will led to
each rating.

4. Draw out the employees reactions to the


ratings.
- You must have confidence and accuracy of
the ratings
5. Decide on specific ways in which
performance areas can be strengthened

6. Set a follow up date.

7. Express confidence in the employee
