o Discriminant analysis a technique for analyzing
data when dependent variable is categorical and
independent variables are interval in nature.
o It is a procedure for the determination of the group
to which an individual belongs, based on the
characteristics of the individual.

o hese coefficient can be used to calculate the discriminant
score for given case. his score is calculated in the same
manner as a predictor value from a linear regression, using
the standardized coefficients and the standardized
variables.
o he standard discriminant function coefficient in the table
serve the same purpose as beta weights in multiple
regression: they indicate the relative importance of the
independent variables in predicting the dependent.

At last we can say through discriminant analysis we
can get the group statistic and standardized
conological discriminant function coefficient.
Conological functions are used to discriminant
between pairs of categories, or groups, for each
possible independent contrast, a discriminant
function is calculated that best discriminant
between the categories.
