 JOB DESCRIPTION:
Plan and provide speech-language pathology services to students withspeech disorders. Assess students and provide therapeutic interventionto eliminate or reduce problems or impairments that interfere with the
students’ ability to derive full benefit from the educational program
.JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification:
Master’s degree in speech
-language pathology from an accreditedcollege or universityValid Texas license as a speech-language pathologist granted by theState Board of Examiners for Speech-Language Pathology andAudiology (SBESLPA)Special Knowledge/Skills:Ability to use the accepted tests and measurements to assesscommunication disorders and conditionsKnowledge of evaluation, and rehabilitation of speech-languagedisordersAbility to instruct and manage student behaviorExcellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
DUTIES ANDRESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Plan and provide appropriate individual and group therapy tostudents consistent with speech and language goals contained inIndividual Education Plans (IEP).2. Evaluate student progress and determine readiness for termination of therapy services.Assessment3. Conduct independent evaluations to assess students with speech orlanguage disorders and conditions to determine eligibility for services.4. Participate in the Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD)committee to assist in interpretation of assessment data, appropriateplacement, and goal setting for students with communication disordersor conditions according to district procedures.5. Counsel and involve parents in remedial process.6. Collaborate with classroom teachers to plan and implementclassroom activities to improve communication skills of students.
