The Ideal ASDA Chapter Award honors outstanding achievements by ASDA chapters in serving members inaccordance with the Ideal ASDA Chapter criteria.

Membership & Communication
Utilizes online membership remittance process to submit dues
 
**NEW**
ASDA Chapter has successfully enrolled all new students in the International Dental program graduating in 2012.
 
UCLA utilizes electronic remittance procedures which were submitted in the Fall and are up-to-date.
 
During first-year orientation, students are encouraged to join ASDA and they are automatically re-enrolled in subsequent years.
Encourages member involvement and has significant participation from members
 
UCLA has a Publicity Committee specifically tasked to encourage further member participation from our classmates, especiallythe first year members who are new to ASDA.
 
Through extensive publicizing (described below), all members encouraged to attend events.
 
We have been able to host audiences of over 100 students to many lunch lectures and more than 75% of the student body attendedthe 16
th
 
Our publicity machine has been very successful in ensuring 100% of members have participated in at least one ASDA event overthe course of the year.Annual ASDA Vendor Fair.
Chapter employs the following communication vehicles: class announcements, bulletin boards, e-mail, Web site, Facebook page
 
For every event, the Publicity Committee utilizes multiples forms of communication to ensure the student body is aware of ASDAevents and activities.

Such vehicles include email reminders, school-wide intercom announcements, classroom announcements, student-designed eventfliers, a bulletin board with future and past events posted and our ASDA Chapter website.
 
As of last year, we have taken advantage of Facebook in order to reach the student body. We will send messages and create eventpages to keep the student body aware of upcoming ASDA activities.

The ASDA Website at www.bruinasda.com has been completely redesigned in the Summer of 2010 and is packedwith new features and a fresh look.
 
Chapter publishes a local newsletter at least three times per school year
 
 
The Diastema News,
UCLA’s ASDA newsletter, is published quarterly.
 
**NEW**
The Newsletter Committee has grown to include 16 active members with 3 section editors, 3 layout editors, and 12writers.
Contributes to national ASDA publications, podcasts, blog, and Facebook page
 
Jason Scott serves as contributing editor of ASDA News and has written a 7 articles in addition to 11 Mouthing Off blog entries.
 
 
Matt Ronconi serves as contributing editor of ASDA News and has written 8 articles for ASDA News in addition to blog entries.
 
 
Mark Hower wrote article entitled “Historic Healthcare Reform and Dentistry” published in the May edition of ASDA News.
 
 
In addition, 6 other UCLA ASDA members have written for national ASDA publications including: 1) Andrew Read-Fuller 2)Stephanie Cappiello 3) Marc Rasmussen 4) Susan Cane 5) David Welch 6) Tim O’Brien.
 
Chapter utilizes ASDA branding (including ASDA signage banner, and ASDA flyers)

1YEC) which annually takes part in the UCLA tabling day where studentsare introduced to ASDA and handed pamphlets & fliers which explain the benefits of joining ASDA.

ASDA Publicity Committee produces quarterly schedule cards all of which contain the ASDA logo.year students who were encouraged to sign-up for their upcoming events.

All literature including clinic manuals and notes contain ASDA logo prominently on front cover.
 
Finals Week Care Packages all contain ASDA seal inside to remind students that “ASDA Loves Them.”

In April 2010, the Annual Session delegation held a Lunch and Learn reviewing the Resolutions adopted at AnnualSession.
 
**NEW**
The ASDA Executive Committee prepared a presentation for UCLA International Dental Students about Resolution325-2010: Inclusion of Dentistry as a STEM Designated Degree Program.
