The foreign ministers of India and Brazil renewed calls forthe US and the European Union to slash farm subsidiesand open agricultural markets to competition.
"Everybody is interested" in concluding the Dohanegotiations,Brazilian Foreign Minister Celso Amorim
said yesterday, but "that can only be achieved if we agreeon the agriculture aspect: that is, on eliminating subsidiesin developed countries and (gaining) greater access to theirmarkets.“
"We're not satisfied with the agriculture document nor theindustry document, but we have to negotiate" despitedifferences, Amorim said after meeting with hisIndiancounterart Pranab Mukhereein Brasilia.
