he C Speech
Conforms to type assigned (informative, persuasive, etc.)
Conforms to the time limit.
Exhibits sound organization: a clear purpose isadequately supported by main ideas that are easilyidentified.
F
ulfills any special requirements of the assignment, such as touse three illustrations or statistics or a specified number of oralsource citations.
Is intellectually sound in addressing aworthwhile topicwithadequate and dependable evidence. Worthwhile topics havesome exigence, provide new information or a fresh perspective. At the C level, this may entail a vague or simplistic thesis, or evidence that is too obvious or easily accessible.
Exhibits reasonable directness and communicativeness indelivery. In other words, the speaker attempts to ³connect´personally with the audience.
Is ready for presentation on date assigned.

he B Speech
M
eets the requirements of a C speech, and:

he speech is an interesting and fresh look at the topic.
Exhibits an authentic style that isvividand appropriate for thetopic or situation.
Is of above average quality inchallenging the audience to thinkor inarousing depth of response.

hesis and evidence aremore than adequate for audience and selected topic.
Skillfully helps the audience understand difficult concepts or processes; or, wins agreement from audience members initiallyinclined to disagree with the speaker's purpose.
Establishes significant rapportthrough languageand delivery that achieves a genuinely reciprocalresponse from the audience.
In other words, thespeaker successfully engages the audience.
