around you and see an allywearing the same colors, brings strength, even whenyou look across the filed togiants on the other team. Byyourself this can beintimidating. It is far betterto look at those beside you. Those on the same team.Living in the political climateof Humboldt County can beintimidating, but let us lookto each other as teammatesthis coming year and togetherI read recently the thoughts of a football player as he stoodon the sideline preparing for agame. He shared how the blazing white lights fromlamps high overhead gleamedoff the helmets around him.He would look into the eyesof his teammates and his heartwould begin to burn. There was something aboutstanding within the ranks of ateam that can infuse a personwith courage. To lookwe can make a difference Letus lift up our adversaries inprayer and do what we can toinfluence others to do what isright for our country. A teamthat enters the game withpurpose and resolve is thekind of team that winschampionships. Let us become a group of prayerfulwomen whom our adversariesshudder to see standing tallon the other side of the field.
