Typically we think of electionyears as most significant periodsfor Eureka Republican WomenFederated as we work in support of Republican campaigns. Startingthis month with the installation of President Obama who presentedhis candidacy as the very essenceof change we are looking at a realneed for change in our thinking.Contrasts between hisadministration’s purposes and our convictions indicates that thisneeds to be a hard working year for us. There is need to be vigilant inwatching legislation and to react as best serves our conservative principles. There’s a billintroduced to recycle The FairnessDoctrine (which is anything butfair) and Obama comes to officewith a huge commitment toPlanned Parenthood. Watchfor pandering to ACORN, asupposed community actionorganization that functions on thetaxpayers’ dime mostly as a radicalextension of the Democrat party. We will need to write, fax, telephone, and be as visible as possible if we are to best representand defend our core beliefs.More immediately we have achange in time and place for our January meeting. Meeting date isThurs. January 22 at the Elk Lodgeat noon . Members, guests and the public are encouraged to bringcans or plastic containers of foodto contribute to Food for People.

carelessly spend the dollars onthemselves first and then let a fewcoins trickle down toinfrastructure and help for working families? Are you tiredof the foolish legislation those inleft field thrust upon us? Are youfed up with the judges Democratsare forcing on us? Then why onearth do you keep sending back the same politicians election after election?”I personally am tired of recycled politicians and thenetwork of destructive people wekeep having represent us. I urgeyou to become active with theCounty Republican Party and theTaxpayers League. Get a littleangry at what is going on inSacramento. Donate to our Republican candidates, carryvoter registration forms in theI have been asked to cover Sacramento politics for our clubthis year. What a daunting task tofollow the circus going on there. The budget process is out of control. The politics are out of control. I believe the confusion is because the majority of the policymakers are out in left field.I am hoping that someday, wecan have Republican candidatesrunning for State offices that the public will listen to. I want acandidate who will stand up andask, “Are you happy with whatour state has become? Are yousatisfied with our indebtedness? Are you willing to pay higher and higher taxes? Areyou happy with your children’seducation? Are you tired ohanding over more of your hard-earned money to those who

trunk of your car. Study, learnfacts and don’t be afraid to throwthem out at your Democratfriends. They have certainlymastered the art of intimidating usto the point we are afraid to place bumper stickers on our cars or yard signs indicating our causes. Write letters to the editor, and the next election volunteer to phone bank for our candidates andto get the vote out, walk precinctsand distribute Republicanliterature. Volunteer to work onthe campaign of a conservativecandidate running for office. They deserve our help.Let’s work together for honest representation so our Statecan once again be a place friendlyto family, businesses and thequality of good living.Promised Land. How differentJewish history would have beenhad they not continued to followMoses. With a discouraging 2008election, we must take his wordsseriously and continue goingforward on our political journey. Also some of us haveexperienced indescribable grief inthe loss of our loved ones. Iwould like to mention some of theloyal Republican men who left usin 2008. Roger Rodoni, WilliamWennerholm, John Campbell,Les Westfall, and my husband,Since our minister was onvacation, my husband Richardwas asked to deliver the first 2007sermon given at our church. Ifound his message on thecomputer the other day and wasamazed, as he was fighting his battle with cancer, his talk was of looking to the future and howimportant it is to not dwell on the past. He pointed out how theIsraelites became discouraged and began complaining. Someactually wanted to turn back toEgypt and slavery rather thancontinuing on their journey to theRichard Sorenson. Let us takeRichard’s words, and moveforward in life’s journey. Wecannot forget the past, especiallythe good memories, but we mustlook for opportunities to comfortand pray for those hurting. Look for opportunities to help make our nation stronger. Become moreactive and strive to do what isright for the future of our country, our families and our friends.I am sure those great men whohave gone on before us wouldwant us to look forward to a better future, beginning this year, 2009.

Upon arrival in Washington President-elect Obama announced that the first Item in his $1-trillion stimulus plan is new jobs. He said 80-percent of the jobs will be in the public sector. This would add 600,000 jobs tothe already bloated government payroll. This does make one wonder how do we meet paydays?
