- Do you know how people speak English in America today?

People from Europe went to America to explore this new continent. There
they found a place with some important resources and it was its inhabitants
were native Americans. Some of the European explorers had a good
relationship with indigenous people and they created permanent settlements.
Some of them could not adapt to this new land and left. In the beginning
there were 13 colonies in the East Coast and this was the origin of America.
Then, this new continent had no more relationships with England and there
were some changes in the languages, even in the inside of the colonies.
English language continued to evolve both in America and Europe separately.
This includes differences in pronunciation as well as use of specific words.
In America, the language picked up influences from native Americans for the
local fauna and flora that did not exist in Europe and there were also
influences of other settlers: Dutch, French and Spanish.
The peak of immigration to the British colonies was in the 17th century and
many words that were used by British people at that time have disappeared in
the English language of nowadays but they continue to use them in America.
For example: “fall” and “gotten”.
