Fear in the Lord

Piety

By: Group 2
Piety
• Piety is being loyal to obligations as a
human being and as a Child of God. It is
the affection that makes us WANT to give
worship to God, same as how we would
normally willingly help our parents. An
example would be how a pious son helps
his parents. This is a natural obligation
and being pious requires us to live it out.
Another example would be how a Catholic
would always pray to God.
Piety
• Some well – known gestures of
piety would include:
• Kneeling down in Christianity
• Bowing down to pray in Islam
• Prayer
Fear of the Lord
• Having fear of the Lord isn’t
FEARING Him because we have
nothing to be scared about
because He has promised that
nothing will be able to separate us
from His love. Having fear of the
Lord is fearing to offend Him.
Fear of the Lord

• A common mix – up is how

people consider having fear in
the Lord is fearing to be
scolded but in fact, it is
actually fearing to hurt him by
doing sin.
Fear of the Lord
• An example of having fear of the Lord is
if, for example, Kyle just happened to find
a wallet on the floor in school. Having
fear of the Lord would have him return
the wallet to the owner because he would
be scared to hurt God and his fellow
human. Not having fear of the Lord would
have him either keep the wallet or return
it in fear of being reprimanded.
