Organizational level diagnosis

 General Environment

MBA education Industry in Kerala is highly competitive. There are lot many B schools in Kerala which are
delivering quality education to students. DCSMAT ranks 3 rd among the colleges in Kerala. The main
competitors of DCSMAT are SCMS and Rajagiri Business schools. DCSMAT has two campuses, one at
Vagamon and another at Trivandrum. Both PGDM and MBA are being offered in Vagamon campus
whereas only PGDM is being offered in Trivandrum campus. DCSMAT believes in giving quality education
to students and helps in building up their career. DCSMAT is offering a residential educational program
in which classes are conducted 24*7.

 Company’s Industry structure

Company’s industry structure can be represented by looking into the Five forces of the market

 Threat of entry

One of the most important barriers to higher education is the requirements and restrictions imposed by
the accrediting associations. The success and reputation of business schools are highly interwoven with
the certification and accreditation. The capital required to set up such an institution is another barrier to
entry. But in the present scenario more and more B schools are mushrooming which can be a threat to
DCSMAT

 Threat of substitute products

Threat of substitute products is there in the industry. There are many other colleges which are offering
many other PG courses at a much lower package. So students who are not able to do MBA or PGDM
course which is comparatively a costlier course may switch to other courses.
 Competitors.

Higher Educational Industry in India is a highly competitive industry in Kerala. The main competitors of
DCSMAT are SCMS, Cochin, and Rajagiri, K akkanad. These organizations are also offering similar courses
with high quality and value.

 Bargaining power of Suppliers.

Bargaining power of suppliers is less in this case. DCSMAT are not depending on any agencies or
consultancies for campaigning. DCSMAT believes in value and quality. Students come to DCSMAT upon
their interest and hence supplier’s bargaining power is minimal in this case.

 Bargaining power of customers

Basically there are 3 types of customers for DCSMAT

a) Students
b) Parents
c) Companies coming for placements

Each of these customers has a variety of choices being flooded in front of them because there are many
quality players in the market. So, definitely bargaining power is high in this case. If they feel that
DCSMAT is not good or not meeting their expectations they can definitely switch to other brands
