The Adventures of Stagger Li

Table of Contents

The structure of this novel is based upon the four Major Suits of the Tarot. Each suit has its own
theme and symbology. For those unfamiliar with the Tarot, I recommend “Meditations on the
Tarot: A Journey Into Christian Hermeticism.” No familiarity with the Tarot is required,
however, for your (hopeful) enjoyment of the novel.

I know the general direction of the story but do not know how its characters will behave nor what
new characters and plot twists will evolve. If I did, I would be bored to the extent of copious
weeping, loud wailing, and gnashing and grinding of my septuagenarian molars. Stagger Li,
thankfully, refuses to cooperate with most any aspect of my rational mind, so I know he will
come through with surprising acts and verbiage. Viola Trumpett is also a wild card. Lord knows
what she will do. I see archetypal figures emerging. They will have to be dealt with as I wrestle
with these angels, daimons, and demons in my pre-dawn writing night.
