Jessica Trounstine is an Assistant Proessor o Politics and Public Aairs at Princeton University.Her research interests include urban politics, political parties, and electoral institutions at thesub-national level. Her work has ocused on the representation o traditionally under-representedgroups in American states and cities, and combines qualitative historical analysis with quantitativemethods. Jessica is the author o a number o articles on these topics and a book manuscript oncity politics entitled
Urban Empires: The Rise and Fall o Monopoly Government in American Cities.
She has current projects investigating elon disenranchisement, voter mobilization at the locallevel, and the eect o election laws on political outcomes and policy. In addition to academics, Dr.Trounstine has served as a ellow with the National Sustainable Cities Leadership Project, workedas a consultant or city government reorm, and was a spokesperson or Caliornia Governor GrayDavis. Dr. Trounstine received her PhD in Political Science rom the University o Caliornia at SanDiego.The Commonweal Institute is an alliance o independent thinkers rom outside the D.C.
