1. Objective

The main objective of this laboratory session is to study the transient response: speed and
sensitivity to load disturbance for open loop and closed loop systems with low and high gain.

2. Transient response

A. Open Lope:

We used 100 KΩ Op-Amp feedback resistors. The measurements are given below:

C (v) ∆ C (v) R ∆R C/R ∆C/∆R τ

4 0.8 0.168 0.011 23.8 72.73 2.52 sec

B. Closed Lope with low gain (negative feedback):

We used 10 KΩ Op-Amp feedback resistors. The measurements are given below:

C (v) ∆ C (v) R ∆R C/R ∆C/∆R τ

4 0.8 4.16 0.847 0.96 0.945 32 ms

Time constant is as small as possible.

B. Closed Lope with high gain:

We used 100 KΩ Op-Amp feedback resistors. The measurements are given below:

C (v) ∆ C (v) R ∆R C/R ∆C/∆R τ

4 0.8 5.42 0.943 0.738 0.848 420 ms

3. Sensitivity to Load Disturbance

A. Open Lope:

We set speed at 4 tacho volts and obtained speed 3.98 V.

The load of two units on brake scale slightly affects the speed.

B. Close Lope

We set speed at 4.02 tacho volts and obtained speed 2.759 V.
