INTRODUCTION
At outer space we can use the solar power 24 hours /dayand 365 days /year.
Solar power satellites are used to transfer the generatedelectric power to earth stations by means of EM waves.
The receiving antenna used for this purpose is Rectenna.
The converted electric power is stored for future usage.
 
William C. Brown - succeeded in demonstrating amicrowave-powered helicopter in 1964
A power conversion device from microwave to DC,called a RECTENNA was invented and used for themicrowave-powered helicopter.
Power transmitted over a distance of 1.6 km. The DCoutput was 30 kW.
The DOE/ NASA Satellite Power System ConceptDevelopment and Evaluation Program, started in 1977.
The SPS was proposed by P.E. Glaser in 1968.
