The Virtual Reality uses a huge number of technologies to produce a Virtual world so that a user can interact and manipulate with the virtual objects in the so produced Virtual Worlds. With the aid of some specially developed gadgets like a Head Mounted Display, Electronic Glove and Mechanical armatures that fit the human organs we can immerse the human into the Virtual world. The simulation technique is combined with the motion of the human to produce the output that what human expects for. For example the person in a Virtual world looks at a particular object then he has to get the feeling that he is actually looking at that object and he should also get the feeling of the sounds that come from that object. The word Virtual Reality is an “oxymoron”. It means using two words that are contradictory to each other side by side. Virtual Reality is a collection of technologies for many people. The word Virtual Reality has many contexts. The word Virtual Reality is defined as follows in the book “The Silicon Mirage.

1. INTRODUCTION
The

irtual
eality uses a huge number of technologies to produce a Virtual world sothat a user can interact and manipulatewith the virtual objects in the so producedVirtual  Worlds. With  the aid of somespecially developed gadgets like a HeadMounted Display, Electronic Glove andMechanical armatures that fit the humanorgans we can immerse the human into theVirtual world. The simulation technique iscombined with the motion of the human toproduce  the  output  that  what  humanexpects for. For example the person in aVirtual world looks at a particular objectthen he has to get the feeling that he isactually  looking  at  that  object  and  heshould also get the feeling of the soundsthat  come from that object.  The word
V
irtual
eality  is  an
oxymoron
”.  Itmeans  using  two  words  that  arecontradictory to each other side by side.Virtual  Reality  is  a  collection  of technologies for many people. The wordVirtual Reality has many contexts. Theword Virtual Reality is defined as followsin the book “The Silicon Mirage”. Themost difficult thing in the Virtual Realityis  to  produce  the  interaction  betweenVirtual world and the human but not theproduction of the Virtual world. The typeof Virtual Reality in which the human isactually immersed into the Virtual world iscalled the
immersive Virtual Reality
. Insuch a type of Virtual Reality the human iscompletely isolated from the outside worldand he is placed an entirely  computer generated world. The applications beingdeveloped for Virtual Reality are widerange utilities. Among them the real timeapplications occupy the prominent place.
2  CLASSIFICATION  OF  VIRTUALREALITY
After  a  deep  study  of  this  emergingtechnology,  we  have  classified  VirtualReality into three types.
2.1  VIRTUAL  REALITY  USINGSOFTWARE
The first category of Virtual Reality thatwe  consider  is  Virtual  Reality  usingsoftware.  Here  we  use  many  tools  todevelop  the  virtual  worlds.  The  mostcommonly used tools for developing 3dworlds are VRML v1.0, VRML97, VRMLv2.0, 3d Studio max, Rhino3d, Amapi3d,ALICE99,  BLENDER  and  other  suchsoftware.  The  VRMLv1.0  is  the  childlanguage developed from the XML family. There aren’t many differences between thelater versions of VRML (VRML97 andVRML  v2.0).  The  programmingparadigms  are  entirely  different  fromVRMLv1.0  to  VRMLv2.0.  There  aremany companies dedicated to develop thetools for creating virtual worlds, such asParallel Graphics Co., and Trapezium Co.,.Also  there  are  many  concepts  of

developing the virtual worlds using thesoftware. They are :
2.1.1 RENDERING
In  this  we  are  conscious  about  therendering  techniques.  Here we use thetechnique  of  wire  framing.  A  sampleoutput and its wire frame model are shownbelow. After developing the wire framemodel what we have to do is simply toapply  the  texture  to  it.  This  is  calledtexturing. The texture applied can be aphotograph  or  any  predefined  texturessuch as metal, rock, wood and cementflooring
2.1.2 PROGRAMMING
The other tool available for developing thevirtual worlds is by programming. Thereare  many  programming  languages  bywhich we can develop the virtual worlds. The best one we prefer is by using VRMLv2.0. Prior to this language, people used todevelop  the  virtual  worlds  using  thetraditional programming language, JAVA.As we have mentioned earlier VRML is alanguage born from the family of XML.VRML  is  Virtual  Reality  ModelingLanguage. VRML v2.0 is more advancedcompared to the version 2.0.Here we arepresenting one simple program in each of the versions. For developing the virtualworlds using VRML we need a plug-in for the  Internet  Explorer  or  NetscapeNavigator. With the help of this only wecan interact with the virtual world. Moreinformation regarding the browser plugins, parsers and editors is included atwww.vrml.org/vrml/.
2.2  VIRTUAL  REALITY  USINGHARDWARE2.2.1  MANIPULATION  ANDCONTROL DEVICES
It is a common thing that is three axes X,Y, Z. In order to track the motion of anobject in the virtual world we need to track the motion of the particular object in allthe three axes. These calculations  maycause some latency. The latency is themajor  problem  in  any  Virtual  Realitysystems. The simplest hardware for VirtualReality  is  a  Mouse,  Track  ball  and  aJoystick.  These  are  the  conventionalhardware used for Virtual Reality using 2dsystems. Creative programming can makethem useful for 3d and 6d controls. Alsothere are a number of 3dand 6d mice,Track  balls  and  joysticks.  These  havesome extra buttons for controlling not only
