Artificial Intelligence (AI) is the area of computerscience focusing on creating machines that can engageon behaviors that humans consider intelligent. INTRODUCTION

Artificial Intelligence, or AI for short, is acombination of computer science, physiology, andphilosophy. AI is a broad topic, consisting of differentfields, from machine vision to expert systems. The elementthat the fields of AI have in common is the creation of machines that can "think".Artificial Intelligence has come a long way from itsearly roots, driven by dedicated researchers. Thebeginnings of AI reach back before electronics, to philosophersandmathematicians such asBooleand others theorizing onprinciples that were used as the foundation of AI Logic. AIreally began to intrigue researchers with the invention of the computer in 1943. The technology was finallyavailable, or so it seemed, to simulate intelligent behavior.Over the next four decades, despite many stumblingblocks, AI has grown from a dozen researchers, tothousands of engineers and specialists; and from programscapable of playing checkers, to systems designed todiagnose disease.
