This is YOUR year of Victory!
2008 will be great if you keep the faith.
But I hear the Word for 2008 loud and clear - this is our year of VICTORY! Yes, doors
were opened with great opportunities along with great opposition. But God is faithful and He
wants to reassure us that He has not forsaken us and always to remember that He is the
source of victory.
darkest before the dawn - so don't give up. Keep fighting. Know we win in the end. It's in
the Book!
We were born to win! So it's time we act like it, talk like it and walk in it. We were birthed
with a purpose and hand-made by God in His image.
As with any victory, there are challenges, struggles and sometimes an out and out battle that
precedes it. But remember if God is on our side, we win! I'm a living testimony.
Though I've gone through some trials this year, I've learned these hard
times actually made me stronger. Once I passed through the valley, I experienced my
greatest breakthrough on the other side. With every new level, there was a new "devil"
waiting in the wings to steal my destiny - but I was wiser and stronger with each test I went
through because I really believed that:
God equipped us all with the tools to win the battle and the war if
we just keep going and don't throw in the towel. As my pastor, Dr. Stacia Pierce says,
"Don't quit it until you get it." A dream delayed in not a dream denied.
Here are some strategies to keep a victorious attitude all year and remain
undefeated:
1. Don't panic, worry or complain. Set your mind and keep it set on victory. When things
seem to skid off the tracks, minimize the situation and maximize your time with God. The
Word says, "Be still and know that I am God" (Ps. 46:10). God is bigger than your problem;
greater than your issues. 2008 will be great if we keep the faith. Fear will die and courage
will flourish when you take time and get alone in the presence of God. It's hard to
complain about the minuscule when you're in the presence of the omniscient, omnipotent
God. Enter into His rest; trust Him. God promises in Isaiah 43:2-3: "When you pass
through the waters, I will be with you; And through the rivers, they shall not overflow you.
When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned, Nor shall the flame scorch you.
For I am the LORD your God." You can't worry and worship at the same time. So make it a
habit to worship God with all your heart - He loves you.
2. Embrace your calling, claim your dream & define your goals. Be serious about
success and don't compare yourself with others. Finding and fulfilling your own destiny is
victory. By honing in on your own God-given gifts and talents will prevent you from being
side-tracked by envy and jealousy which opens the door to negativity and adversity. Real
winners keep their heart pure and focus on achieving more, doing more and reaching for
more so they can live their dreams and make an impact on others. Winners are mission-
minded. Run the race that God called you to run.
3. Fight back, be bold and very courageous. Your dreams are worth it. Know that
the battle is only temporary and we win when we fight using the weapons God has provided
us: soak up the Scriptures so you can consistently confess the Word and declare victory over
your situation; fasting to sharpen your spiritual sensitivity to hear God's voice; get rid of
offense, walk in love and forgiveness; sow seed expecting a miracle because the law of
reciprocity works; and praise God before you actually see the victory. That's proof of true
belief.
4. Get wisdom, knowledge and understanding. The more you know, the more you grow.
Readers are leaders. Study the champions. Read about great men and women. Meditate on
biblical heroes like Joseph, Paul, David or Esther. Stay inspired. Create a prayer circle.
Listen to godly advice from mentors. Ignorance can be deadly. "My people are destroyed
from lack on knowledge" (Hosea 4:6). Continually expand your mind and learn from
good books.*
5. Give God time to work. Stand firm, stay strong and be patient in the process. Promotion
follows adversity. Expect it. Get your eyes on the bigger picture. Feed your faith and don't
lose hope. Life is a marathon not a sprint. Be tough; avoid the victim mentality when you get
weary. Visualize success and keep faith photos of your goals before you. Patience is a
weapon. "Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a
harvest if we do not give up" (Galatians 6:9).
6. Stay focused. Your battle deserves your full attention. We only lose because of broken
focus. Eliminate distractions and toxic people from your life. You'll be sure to get the victory
when you keep your focus and stay full of joy. If we just learn to outlast the enemy, we
win. When the enemy sees you are more determined than he is, he'll back down and you'll
move forward into greater realms of victory.
The key is to stay the course with God. Endurance is rewarded - always. "With
God we will gain the victory, and he will trample down our enemies." Psalm
60:12

You Don't Have to
Recognize the Victory to
Have the Victory, But It
Sure Helps! By L. Marie
Trotter
The Bible is filled with examples of individuals who experienced great victories and feats and/or
were used by God in a very special way. King Jehosaphat and his army defeated the armies of
Moab and Ammon without a fight (In II Chronicles 20:1-28). Moses parted the red sea (Exodus
14:21). Joshua led his army to bring down the walls of Jericho with a shout (Joshua 6:20). As an
act of her obedience to Elijah, the widow woman was blessed with enough food to eat for days in
the midst of a famine (I Kings 17:15). Mary was used of God to give birth to the savior of all
mankind (Luke 1:35), and Jesus was highly exalted and given a name above every name
(Philippians 2:9).
Each of these individuals experienced a tremendous victory or transforming moment in their
lives. Their experiences were all different, but they had one common denominator. Before they
experienced total victory, they practiced total surrender.
The Bible tells us that Jehosaphat set himself to seek the Lord-and he iterated this sentiment" ---
Nor do we know what to do, but our eyes are upon you."
Joshua humbled himself before the angel and said, "What does my Lord say to His servant?"
In obedience, the widow woman fed the prophet Elijah with her very last.
The virgin Mary said, "Lord, be it to me according to your word," and
Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ proclaimed on the cross, "---not my will, but thy will be done."
Total victory is always related to a specific promise that God has given us. And while God fully
intends to keep His promise, there are battles we need to win before the total fulfillment of the
promise. And while each of us longs for total victory, scripture reveals to us one very important
prerequisite-and that's total surrender.
May the aforementioned individuals in scripture be our example---What will you say?

"Get Victory by Standing on the Word"
by Dawn N. Lang
With a lot of prayer, determination, hard work, local programs, friends, and various churches,
she is off to a great start! The hand of God has reached down through others and helped her
get an apartment, car, and a job.
The true BLESSING is that faith and trust is slowly being restored, and that is where the
VICTORY comes in.
Lee recently applied for a better job with a pay increase that was closer to home and had work
she would enjoy. But her natural mind reminded her she didn't have enough education & that
others were more qualified, plus things were stacked against her as she had previously
interviewed for the job and didn't get it. (The person who was hired didn't work out and the
position was open again.)
Lee was encouraged by a friend to stand on the Word of God. She chose the scripture: "And
my God will meet all your needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus."
Philippians 4:19 (NIV).
As Lee stood on this promise, it became very real to her, so much that even though she wasn't
told she had the job, 'she believed before she received' and wrote a thank you note to her future
boss, and most radical of all, she quit her current job certain that she was to start her new one
on Monday. You guessed it, Lee did get that job - and she praises the Lord for his
faithfulness!
Despite what she saw against her, Lee found when she fully submitted herself and believed in
the Word, that she got the real victory! I challenge you in whatever you are facing to read the
Word of God, trust, and exercise your faith muscle. I assure you, by having faith and being
sure of what you hope for while standing on the Word, you too, will find VICTORY in your
life!

About the author and magazine
In January, 2007 a vision was given in prayer to create a publication offering insight and
advice from a scriptural perspective to real people, on real life issues. Extraordinary Living
Magazine was birthed from that vision in August, 2007. Lang's desire is to reach the world for
Christ. She is the mother of 3 young children and just celebrated her 17th wedding anniversary
with her husband, Randy. Her favorite scripture is Philippians 4:19 (KJV): "But my God shall
supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus." She says, "God is our
supply and if we trust in Him, we will never lack."
Extraordinary Living Magazine is a FREE, full color, bi-monthly magazine offering insight
and advice from a Christian world view to real people, on real life issues.
The publication strives to promote unity within the Body of Christ by encouraging bible-
believing ministries, churches, businesses, schools, universities, service providers and more to
come together in one unique local media venue. It is our belief that this union has the capacity
to incite positive change in the community.

This is not new to man or woman. In the Book of Luke 8: 22- 25, Jesus told his disciples who just
witnessed miracles with him, to get in the boat and go over to the other side of the lake with him. We all
know this story; Jesus went to sleep and a storm came and the water entered the boat causing it to feel
like it was about to sink. The disciples felt like they were in great danger and called out to the Master to
help them. They questioned if he cared that they would drown.
Jesus spoke to the wind and the water and they became calm. Then asked the disciples; where is your
FAITH?
Yes they had the Word; yes they heard the Word and yes they had the Master right in the boat with them,
yet the storms of life challenged their mission and they went back to fear. These storms, known to man
today as challenges, trials and tests caused them to question if the Master cared. They forgot the Word
that was given to them. How often do we hear the Word, question the Word and forget who is in the boat
with us? This is what is defined as worry not Victory.
Worry causes us to forget the Word and who is in the boat with us. Worry causes us to become dull to
the power and faith that we know we have in the Father. Worry causes us to compromise our calling,
become analytical, logical and all business. Worry causes us to miss the Victory. If we truly believe what
Roman 8: 17 says that we are " ---children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be
that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together."
We would understand that the suffering we experience is because the Word is in us and the challenges
we face try to displace the Word in us. But the promise of the Word says that we will be gloried because
we believe the Word. We know that the Victory belongs to us because we are inheritors of all that God
has for us. We must remember what he says in 1 Cor. 10:26, "For the earth is the Lord's, and the fullness
thereof."
If we continue to remember and receive the revelation of these verses we can know that we look good in
Victory! So just go out and possess what is yours with gladness and expectation because of your
Father.

you'll be amazed at what God can do in and through you!"
Write your dream. Commit your dream to paper, this helps to clarify and
define your dream. In Habakkuk, when it seemed like all hell was
breaking loose, God shared this powerful strategy: "Then the LORD
answered me and said: "Write the vision And make it plain on tablets.
That he may run who reads it. For the vision is yet for an appointed time;
But at the end it will speak, and it will not lie. Though it tarries wait for it;
Because it will surely come, It will not tarry.'"

Life is full of ups and downs. While we are on the mountaintop, in a state full of bliss we believe nothing could hold us back.
We've reached our plateau, and nothing can bring us down. But the fact of the matter is that although you may be in a serene
season, when all the flowers seem to be blooming, fall season is right around the corner.
Fall season, to me, is the ugliest season of them all. All the trees get stripped of their beauty. They stand there bare and
lifeless, and on-lookers can see all of their flaws. The grass, that was once green and soft has become brown and withered.
And so it is with us, when we are in our fall season, or what most may call 'a season of trials.'
It seems like we are being stripped bare of everything that made us feel content and happy with life; we are pushed out of our
comfort zone and into the combat zone. The confidence in ourselves and in God that once was at an all time high has shot
down the scale into insecurity. It is at that very moment when a decision must be made.
Are you going to stand and fight or become absorbed in your circumstance and be defeated? Jesus said that we would face trials. He never
said where, when, and what the trial would be, but he said that it would come. He also said in John 16:33, "These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have
peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: BUT be of good cheer; I have overcome the world".
Trials exist because there is a combat between the Kingdom of God and the devil. God has different approaches when it
comes to delivering us. Sometimes, He will intervene and deliverance will come instantaneously. Other times, He will seize
the attack and pull us out of the situation preventing us from making big mistakes. Then there are times when we must stay in
and fight. But the good news is that if we stay in and fight, God equips us with the tools to win.
There are three tools to consider: faith, prayer, and perseverance (James 1:2-3). All three are strengthened each time we use
them when a trial occurs. Faith tells us that, "we will obtain victory"; prayer gives us the help we need to win; and
perseverance gives us the strength to endure until the end. And when we reach victory we realize that we are actually better
off because of that trial.
Here is a word of encouragement to all those who are in their fall season: spring is right around the corner, and victory is
coming. Your leaves will grow back, and you will stand bigger, brighter, and wiser then ever before.

The Merriam Webster dictionary defines victory as the overcoming of an enemy or antagonist; achievement of
mastery or success in a struggle or endeavor against odds or difficulties. This definition does bring some comfort
to us.
Most will attest to an external struggle of some kind-people, lack of money, inadequate friends, etc. However,
what if the greatest obstacle that hindered our success was not our external challenges? What if the real struggle
was finding victory over our mind?
Many great visions, goals, and plans have been defeated by one of our greatest foes-our mind. The greatest
struggle of the Christian walk is gaining control of our heart and mind, and the thought life.
The moment you choose to use your time for anything other than what the Lord has commanded you to do with
your time, you make your mind passive and it becomes open to any and every distraction. The only way you can
keep your heart and mind safe and closed to distractions and control is through obeying the Lord in your life
in your use of time. The territory that we must reclaim in order to usher in excellence in everything we do is our
mind. We must rid ourselves of a passive mind.
Many of our thought do not come from God because He commands us in His word to use our time wisely
according to His will. This is how you overcome a passive mind and stay in God's will and do God's will.
Because there are spiritual forces involved, to choose to do God's will at first is not going to be easy or pleasant,
but as you choose to go against these passive suggestions and instead obey God, God promises us in His word that
passivity will leave and that the unpleasant experience of the battle will be replaced with the fruit of the Holy Spirit
of love, joy and peace.

*Count up the cost to achieve your goal. Write down five things you

*Develop a fighting spirit. You have to want your goal badly enough
to let go of excuses and overcome all obstacles.
Happy Monday!
There are times when it seems as if God is not hearing our prayers. Though our way may seem difficult, God
hears you and God sees your need even before you do.
He allows us to struggle as part of our building process. Any strong building must be able to handle a certain
amount of stress.
It's what is in the inside that allows us to stand. Standing when you feel like falling. When you cannot stand
anymore, that's when God can use you the most - because you are no longer standing on your own two feet,
but you are leaning on God and trusting Him who made you; and is still making you a fresh.
Your change lies in your ability to trust Him in seasons of uncertainty and your tenacity to stand in your storm.
Trust in the Lord with all thine heart and He will deliver you.

If you've spent any time at all in the church, you've heard the phrase "Hold to God's unchanging hand"- or
perhaps a church mothers encouraging "We'll understand it better by and by" and "Weeping may endure for a
night but joy comes in the morning."
The premise? Certain victory for all of God's children- the belief upon which countless hymns and choruses
were penned. But in times of unyielding hardship and heart-wrenching loss, to whom do we turn? Where do our
hearts and minds really go when we face seemingly insurmountable challenges?
As we fervently pray and apply whatever scriptures seem applicable, the "night" can seem to last forever. And
sometimes even in the face of our faith, heaven can be painfully silent as solutions evade us and our best efforts
seem hopelessly in vain.
It is in times like these we must remember that while God doesn't always change the circumstances, He
will always walk through the circumstances with us. He is the "Peace Speaker" who will at times allow the
storm to rage about us while He instead stills the turmoil of our heart and mind- if we allow Him to.
It takes faith as well as discipline to listen for His voice above the roar of whatever winds may be blowing in
your life. But when you keep our eyes on Him and allow faith and the Word to sharpen your focus, you'll be
able to see the light of His grace and love even in the darkest times.
Remember, God orders the path of the righteous and is making everything work together for our good. What you
don't allow to take you out can only make you stronger.
Take a moment now to thank God for His past blessings and to thank Him by faith for keeping His promises
concerning you.

In the Old Testament, there is a book called Habakkuk. In this small book, there is a scripture that is also
inscribed on the scroll of my logo today. That scripture is, "Write the vision And make it plain." If you read
further, it reads, "For the vision is yet for an appointed time; But at the end it will speak, and it will not lie.
Though it tarries, wait for it; Because it will surely come, It will not tarry."
So often, I hear of Visions that God has shown different individuals. These individuals begin to pursue the
visions and then when results don't come the way that "They" want them to come or when "They" want them to
come, they give up! So many forget that when God gives us a vision, it is up to us to have the faith and trust
that God will lead us in the direction that He wants us to go in order for us to get the Reward that He has
planned for us. We have to "be obedient and willing in order to eat the good of the land." Isaiah 1:19.
There are many trials and tribulations that I have gone through. If I would have given up, I know that I would
not have all of the blessings that I have now. There is a plan that God has for each and every one of us. We go
through obstacles for a reason. There is a path that God has set for us that we are to follow. If you aren't able
to face these obstacles and you just give up, why should you be rewarded?
Sometimes, we need to change our ways of thinking as a step to reach the next blessing that God has for us. We
might also need to change our environment. I have to admit, these are two things that I struggled with. I realize
now, how much I had been missing out!! As I moved away from some of those negative influences, God
replaced them with positive ones.
God doesn't want us to struggle and have stressful or unhealthy lives. It's time to change our ways of thinking
and start taking better care of ourselves. There is a huge victorious reward that he has for us and we need to
start living the life we are supposed to live.
Stop "wishing" you can have and start making changes to "ensure" that you have. So many say that it's easier
said than done, but I must warn you, it won't be easy. You have to stay encouraged and stay in the Word! I
am speaking from experience and as soon as I began to seek God first, obey, and became more willing, amazing
things began to happen.
Although obstacles came, I overcame. People may begin to talk about you and choose not to hang around you
anymore because you are "acting" different. It's amazing how they try their best to come back around when they
see how good things are going for you. You can't let negative talk or actions affect you! Pray and keep
moving and you will see all of the blessings continuously coming your way.
Start today in making the changes to obtain your Victory! What God has for you is for you, so it's up to you
and only you to do what you are supposed to do to get it!

The sun was outwardly shining that morning, yet my victimization didn't allow me to notice the brightness of the
day. I could no longer hide it; even my outward posture was now being affected. The drooping shoulders and cast
down head were only reflections of my inward turmoil. As I slowly sauntered into the pastor's study with my
basketful of woes, the Pastors gentle eyes caught mine as he peered deep. Always slow to speak, he paused first
and kindly asked "How are you doing today daughter?"
This was my queue to begin to divulge all of life's mishaps. I was ready to recite the fact that I was homeless,
jobless, penniless and manless. Yet all I could seem to mutter was "I'm doing OK Dad, I guess" As I paused to
begin the routine of unleashing my woeful blues, his body language caused me to halt momentarily. He simply
stepped closer and replied "One day, you're gonna stop acting like the victim and become the victor, God has
called you to be!" Those words rippled through my soul touching unknown elements. Clusters of tears suddenly
gathered in the brim of my eyes. With that simple yet powerful statement, he challenged me to go beyond the
dictation of my trial.
In my darkest hour, I had to settle what I really believed. Either Christ had given me the victory or I was just
another wondering soul trying to survive. Either His Word was true or a lie. God used my pastor to whisper in my
ear, who I truly was, A VICTOR. Howbeit, this victory was not contingent upon my current survey of gains and
losses in life, but on the truth of His Word.
So I had to choose to discard victim thinking that day and embrace victory. In concession His Word gathered up
the rubble of my pain with a promise to rebuild out of the ashes. Nowadays I treasure those words as gems
whenever life's conflict arises and attempts to tell me otherwise, because I now know, every trial raises me to
VICTORY through Christ Jesus.
Pushed to the wall, I called to God; from the wide open spaces, he answered. ---I was right on the cliff-edge, ready to fall, when God
grabbed and held me. God's my strength, he's also my song, and now he's my salvation. Hear the shouts, hear the triumph songs in
the camp of the saved? "The hand of God has turned the tide! The hand of God is raised in victory! The hand of God has turned the

Recently, I spoke at an event held by the 100 Black Women of Atlanta. The purpose of the event was to
encourage young women to dream big and live victoriously.
As I gazed upon the young ladies, I had a flashback of my youth. I remembered the dreams I had of a victorious
life. Back then, I thought a successful or victorious life must include a mansion and fine cars. Yet, as I considered
all the people who have led victorious lives: Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Harriet Tubman, and many
others; it occurred to me that many of them did not have mansions, servants or fine cars.
So what made their lives victorious? If the obtainment of money or possessions, alone, does not constitute a
victorious life, then what does? What can we learn about the qualities of these and other victors?
While each had their own unique personality, after careful observation, it is evident that the one thing they shared
in common was unselfishness. Dr. King could have worked hard to make his dream a reality for his family alone-
but he didn't. He gave his life to benefit others.
Harriet Tubman could have stayed up North the first time she went, but she didn't. Her unselfish nature drew her
back to the South, time and time again, to free other slaves.
And while neither of them put up billboards promoting their own self interests, their actions brought them
acclaim. Books and essays have been written about them and people all over the world esteem them as great!
Why?
When we strive to overcome the love of self and reach beyond our comfort zone to help others, we are on our
way. When we are willing to give of ourselves for the good of others (whether it be money, time, resources or
encouragement), we are turning the key that opens the door to a victorious life.
Furthermore, to live victoriously is to evolve so that we place as much value on others as we do on ourselves.
That's rare in our narcissistic society where modesty is tossed out the window and self-glorification is encouraged.
Yet, when we value others as much as ourselves, we've turned the key a little more to open the door to a
victorious life.
Now that I have matured, I've learned to redefine what it means to live a successful, victorious life. It's not in fine
cars, mansions or having one's name up in lights. It's in giving of one's self, whether in money, encouragement,
resources, labor or prayer.
I believe that the key to opening the door to a victorious life is in giving of ourselves to help others.

If success were easy; everybody would have it. My biggest challenges was taking a local, 8-page black and
white newsletter, with no experience in writing or journalism, and turning it into a national magazine. I hung in
there and kept telling myself that, "tomorrow will be my day."
I withstood physical exhaustion, mental drainage, financial devastation, and being emotional overwhelmed.
My "tomorrow" did arrive, and it was worth the wait and all that it took. Perseverance paid off. I was victorious
because I simply did not give up. I always planned before I moved. I assessed all of my choices and I prayed
before I finalized decisions. Every person I brought on board as a part of my team was scrutinized carefully. I do
the same thing in my personal life as I do in my business life.
I have benefited greatly from my characteristic of being extremely focused. I seldom stray from my mission. I am
constantly setting goals and I plan everything from a shopping list to a financial strategy.
I am able to go on even when my head is below water and it appears that I am about to go under because some
one or something has always reached down and pulled me out.
I was once asked what set me apart from others who fall short. My answer was, "I believe---I simply believe."

Forgiveness:
A Key to
the
Victorious
Life!
by Cheryl A. Griffin
Happy Miraculous Monday, April 28!
The condition of your heart is directly connected to your ability to rid it of toxic waste! I
am not talking about the physical state, but the spiritual state of your heart. Dr. Don
Colbert, author of the book "Deadly Emotions" says, " Saying "I forgive" is like taking
an emotional shower-it cleanses and frees an entrapped soul."
We as people carry a great deal of toxic waste in our hearts which impedes our ability to
forgive not only others, but ourselves as well and in turn stifles our ability to grow as
Christians. The inability to forgive impacts our ability to live a victorious life!
My personal experience with un-forgiveness cultivated within me, low self-esteem,
jealously, bitterness, anger and the ultimate - hatred. I had come to a place where I
hated those whom I perceived had done me so wrong that there was no way I would ever
forgive their actions! I hated to the point where I was spiritually numb. I had no feeling
of love, peace, joy and definitely - no victory.
After about six years of turmoil, God began to do a new thing within me. I had been
sitting under a teaching ministry that used the Word of God to both expose and heal me
from within. Don't get me wrong, this was a process that began with me openly
admitting that I was carrying hatred in my heart.
The steps in the process of forgiveness include:
1) Acknowledge: Recognize that you are carrying un-forgiveness towards those who
you feel have wronged you.
2) Accept and understand the power of forgiveness by realizing God's forgiveness of
us.
3) Ask God to help us to forgive. It is only through His power that we are able to
forgive others as well as ourselves.
Once you have reached the other side of this process you will feel a weight lifted off of
you. You will feel a sense of emotional and spiritual strength, and possibly even
physically healthier. Forgiveness - a powerful weapon of war - will enable you to weave
victory into the very fabric of your life!

We all quote the scripture, "All things are possible to those that believe." I translate the word
"believe" in this sentence as: see the impossible and PURSUE it until I POSSESS it!
Now it reads:
ALL things are POSSIBLE to those (me) that SEE THE IMPOSSIBLE AND PURSUE IT
UNTIL I POSSES IT.
A commercial comes to mind, "Unclaimed Diamonds." Just like our future, purpose, and
inheritance---it is unclaimed. If you want it, you got to go get it. It's available, hand picked by
the Almighty himself. What's missing is our capability of obtaining it.
Society has us thinking that victory is achieved at the end of a task: i.e. a race or competition.
However if you look at victory as a noun (a place and a thing) it can now be viewed as a
place on a journey that is only possessed when one makes a constant decision to keep
advancing toward it. Without continual advancement, it will never be obtained.
What we lack is the ACTION and ATTITUDE of being victorious. Being victorious starts as a
thought, is established by an unquenchable passion and obtained by continuous actions. In life
you must determine your victory way before it is achieved. It's 2008, and there's victory in the
air, if you prepared for it.
We all know the story and wisdom of ants. They spend countless hours storing food in one
season preparing for another. They anticipate what's coming, strategize and execute a plan that
will have them lacking for nothing in the future. They have a victorious attitude.
There are some steps that need to be taken to possess victory. One must endure the hardships
of the many obstacles that come our way. Never compromising, never turning back and
definitely never giving up. Being victorious has to become our attitude. Become our
determination.
Being victorious solely depends on how determined one is to possess their prize, their future,
fulfilling their purpose and receiving their inheritance.
Ask yourself:
Being victorious has to become a lifestyle. All that we need to possess victory is available if
we pursue it. In a perfect world everyone would have a positive, victorious attitude 24/7/365.
In reality, there are days when we just don't feel like fighting anymore, we feel as if we've
given it our best shot and it still didn't work out.
Change your attitude in the midst of the storm. In order to have a victorious moment, you
must SEE yourself already in the winners circle, celebrating. The moment you can see
yourself there, your aspect of what's blocking you from achieving that euphoric feeling will
change. Like a breath of fresh air, you'll begin again.

"But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ." 1 Cor.
15:57 (KJV)
We sing and shout about victory, but I often wonder if collectively we to truly grasp the full
revelation of what it means to walk in victory. Victory can be found in our ability to
overcome the world through Christ Jesus. How? Well, I'm glad you asked (smile)!
The Bible declares that Jesus died, and overcame the world, and when we are born again, we
then become joint heirs. I think often times we attempt assure a victory that has already been
established, but God's already done the work. It's just up to us to walk it out. The way that we
go about walking it out is by using our spiritual weapons of warfare. Remember, the we're
reminded that they are not carnal, but mighty through God. I know some attempt to fix
situations within their limited power, but in the reality of life is that victory cannot exist out
side of Him.
Your ability to be a champion for God is directly related to how you allow Him to handle the
issues of your life. In my life, my biggest battle has often been to wait on God to manifest His
promises. I would plant seeds, but it seemed that the manifestation would tarry. The time
between my seed, and my harvest caused me to question God's promises. It was in these
times that I'd often remind myself that just because I couldn't see the victory didn't mean I
didn't have it. Know that the victory doesn't start with the end, but rather the beginning.
Hallelujah! I'm so glad our victory is already assured! See, some are under the assumption
that the victory is getting the house, or the car, or the spouse, but that in itself isn't it. True
victory is in your ability walk out what God already performed. Victory is blessing when your
money is funny. Victory is when you declare, though He slay me, yet will I trust Him.
When you have true victory, you understand that He may not come when you want Him, but -
well you know the rest (smile) - HE'S ALWAYS RIGHT ON TIME!
Be encouraged my brother. Keep your head up my sister. You may not always feel like
pressing on. You may not understand why you've had to endure the heartache. Maybe you've
even felt like giving it all up, but just hang in there. Oh, and remember: Don't wait until the
battle is over, SHOUT NOW!

I have to admit, 2007 is not a year that I'd care to repeat. Most days it felt like I had fallen into a deep, dark pit. I
was suffocating and weakening with each unexpected turn in my business. With every crisis, I seemed to lose
what little grip I had at all. I was at an all time low and didn't know how I would pick up the pieces. Victory? What
was that? I would have settled for some semblance of stability.
At times, I felt as if I'd fallen into a deep, struggle-filled pit. I was suffocating, or so it seemed, and growing
weaker and weaker with every unexpected challenge. One crisis after another caused me to lose what little
grip I had.
Yet, although the temptation was great, I refused to throw in the towel. When my victory finally arrived, it
appeared subtly, gently and in the form of faith.
In that defining moment the words, "Faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see,"
(Hebrews 11:1) became my life- sustaining reality
No, the obstacles didn't wane in the blink of an eye. My deliverance came when I finally loosened my grip on
"self" and tightened my grip on "Him." Then, the finish line immediately came into view.

Victory: It's a Battle in
the Mind by Candie A.
Price
It is quite amazing that we, as Christians, are so quick to throw in the towel and give up. We that were bought with
the high price of the blood of Jesus Christ, we that have been sanctified (set apart) for the exclusive use of the
Master often walk around as victims. Of course we all experience trials and circumstances that seemingly rock
our foundation - but the Word of the Lord stands sure - we are victorious through the finished work of Jesus
Christ!
Why is it that if we have all this "victory" at our fingertips that we walk around dismayed and as if we have no hope?
It's a battle that is being waged in our minds! Second Corinthians tells us that although we walk around in fleshly
bodies - our battles are not fleshly! Our battle is one of a spiritual nature and in order to combat it, we must fight
spiritually! In our minds lie the war - Satan desires to sift us as wheat and he begins by attacking our thought
processes. "Surely you can't do this, surely you can't do that. It's too tough to remain in this Christian walk. You'll
never get married---" his taunts go on forever.
But thanks be to God who gives us victory! We have to begin to cast down those arguments from the enemy and
even the ones we tell ourselves and bring them into captivity - enslave them, imprison them, arrest them - so that the
Spirit of the Lord arises within us and proves itself stronger than any other force in our lives!
Staying Satisfied, Stand Still and Staying Secure - this is what I had to do as I faced the uncertainty of an income
by which to help my family. I had graduated from college magna cum laude and with University Honors. I had proved
that I could succeed.
However, after graduation - no job! I was frustrated as I couldn't even land an interview. I started to believe that I had
wasted my time going back to school. I was an adult learner competing with young people half my age, I was a
pastor's wife and a mother of two. Why did I waste all those years pursuing a degree only to not have a job to show
for it? Yes, I battled in my mind! But the Lord spoke peace to my heart and told me to look at what He had called me
to do. He had placed in my hands and my heart the ability to reach others for Him through my own magazine. He had
placed in me a desire to reach other pastor's and minister's wives and He birthed within me a book that I had
published!
Regardless of what I thought I was to do after graduation, the Lord birthed some incredible things in me and through
me!
Things may not appear to be going the way you think they ought - but rest assured that when you yield yourself to
God's plan for your life you will not be a victim but a victor!
Stay satisfied with His plan for you, stand still long enough to hear His voice and not the voice of the enemy and
stay secure in the fact that He that hath begun a good work in you shall continue to perform it until Jesus Christ
returns!

If I think about what I believe to be the return for my doing, I might talk myself
out of doing it or doing it partially. I am constantly saying to myself 'You don't know
what this is Michelle,' meaning God's omniscience is the only thing that knows what
will happen, but nothing will happen if you do nothing.
Be obedient to His will and trust that whatever happens is what He needs to
happen. There are days and even weeks when, God and I are on the same page and then
there are times when I will lag behind.
The key for me is quick forgiveness and constantly striving to do better in that
area.
My biggest battle lasted for almost 30 years. I was diagnosed with alopecia,
an autoimmune disease when I was 5 years old and for the next 25 years, I dealt
with the emotional and psychological affects of this disease.
I had memorized Psalm 23 as many of us did as a child, but I didn't learn how to
use it until much later in life. It became my battle cry when people were cruel or
insensitive to me. Uttering that chapter out loud in the midst of adversity is power.
I am now healed of the physical disease and the emotional and psychological
scars are healing nicely too.

What's YOUR
Perspective of Victory
by Jamar Subert
Happy Monday!
When my home team, the Pittsburgh Steelers, wins football games, I call it a victory. When they lose, I'm
disappointed and call it a loss. However, when I consider their legacy, their history as a franchise, I feel victory
again. I call them victorious. I call them champions
In life, we have seasons when we feel victorious and seasons when we don't feel victorious. When we
accomplish something big at the end of the day, we feel victorious.
But when life throws us a curve ball by the end of the week, we feel like failures. At some point, we must see
victory in the measure of legacy, not in the measure of one game, one day, or one week of our lives
What helps me keep a perspective of being victorious? Knowing where I come from, knowing where I've been
and knowing what is ahead of me. I can't accept failure as a label because I lost a game. I have to see myself as
a franchise with a history of winning over a period of time. I realize I will not be content with anything less
than destiny. I will not be content with anything less than the fulfillment of my purpose.
The curve balls are sharp and painful, but my claim to victory is in finishing the game; calling "those things that
be not as though they were" (Rom 4:17).
My most recent curve ball is a transition in my marriage; but understanding who I serve, who I am called to be,
what I am called to do, and the millions it will affect, is the focus that continues to birth the chant of victory in my
soul.
I am victorious! You are victorious! Don't let the loss of one game silence your victory chant.

A Word from Pam Perry to the staff at Ladies First Magazine: When there are difficult times - know incredible
things are on the horizon. It's always darkest before the dawn - so don't give up. Keep fighting. Know we win in
the end. It's in the Book!
We were born to win! So it's time we act like it, talk like it and walk in it. We were birthed with a purpose and
hand-made by God in His image.
As with any victory, there are challenges, struggles and sometimes an out and out battle that precedes it. But
remember if God is on our side, we win! I'm a living testimony.
Though I've gone through some trials this year, I've learned these hard times actually made me stronger.
Once I passed through the valley, I experienced my greatest breakthrough on the other side. With every new
level, there was a new "devil" waiting in the wings to steal my destiny - but I was wiser and stronger with each
test I went through because I really believed:
· I was more than a conqueror (Romans 8:37) · I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me (Phil 4:13)
· God was perfecting all that concerns me (Psalm 138:8) · Greater is He who in me than he who is in the world (1
John 4:4)
God equipped us all with the tools to win the battle and the war if we just keep going and don't throw in the towel.
As my pastor, Dr. Stacia Pierce, says, "Don't quit it until you get it." A dream delayed in not a dream denied.
So ---- OPERATION RESTORATION is underway and the Fall 2008 issue of Ladies First Magazine will be
released and delivered in September!

"Get Victory Over
The Mind...first"
says Tamika
Johnson-Hall
It’s past mid-year! Here are some strategies to keep a victorious attitude all year and remain undefeated:
1. Don't panic, worry or complain. Set your mind and keep it set on victory. When things seem to skid off the
tracks, minimize the situation and maximize your time with God. The Word says, "Be still and know that I am
God" (Ps. 46:10). God is bigger than your problem; greater than your issues. 2008 will be great if we keep the
faith. Fear will die and courage will flourish when you take time and get alone in the presence of God. It's hard
to complain about the minuscule when you're in the presence of the omniscient, omnipotent God. Enter into His
rest; trust Him. God promises in Isaiah 43:2-3: "When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; And
through the rivers, they shall not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned, Nor
shall the flame scorch you. For I am the LORD your God." You can't worry and worship at the same time. So
make it a habit to worship God with all your heart - He loves you.
2. Embrace your calling, claim your dream & define your goals. Be serious about success and don't compare
yourself with others. Finding and fulfilling your own destiny is victory. By honing in on your own God-given
gifts and talents will prevent you from being side-tracked by envy and jealousy which opens the door to
negativity and adversity. Real winners keep their heart pure and focus on achieving more, doing more and
reaching for more so they can live their dreams and make an impact on others. Winners are mission-minded.
Run the race that God called you to run.
3. Fight back, be bold and very courageous. Your dreams are worth it. Know that battle is only temporary and
we win when we fight using the weapons God has provided us: soak up the Scriptures so you can consistently
confess the Word and declare victory over your situation; fasting to sharpen your spiritual sensitivity to hear
God's voice; get rid of offense and walk in love and forgiveness; sow seed expecting a miracle because the law
of reciprocity works; and praise God before you actually see the victory. That's proof of true belief.
4. Get wisdom, knowledge and understanding. The more you know, the more you grow. Readers are leaders.
Study the champions. Read about great men and women. Meditate on biblical heroes like Joseph, Paul, David or
Esther. Stay inspired. Create a prayer circle. Listen to godly advice from mentors. Ignorance can be deadly. "My
people are destroyed from lack on knowledge" (Hosea 4:6). Continually expand your mind and learn from good
books.
5. Give God time to work. Stand firm, stay strong and be patient in the process. Promotion follows adversity.
Expect it. Get your eyes on the bigger picture. Feed your faith and don't lose hope. Life is a marathon not a
sprint. Be tough; avoid the victim mentality when you get weary. Visualize success and keep faith photos of
your goal before you. Patience is a weapon. "Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we
will reap a harvest if we do not give up" (Galatians 6:9).
6. Stay focused. Your battle deserves your full attention. We only lose because of broken focus. Eliminate
distractions and toxic people from your life. You'll be sure to get the victory when you keep your focus and full
of joy. If we just learn to outlast the enemy, we win. When the enemy sees you are more determined than he is,
he'll back down and you'll move forward into greater realms of victory.
The key is to stay the course with God. Endurance is rewarded - always. "With God we will gain the victory,
and he will trample down our enemies." Psalm 60:12

for answers of how to make everything work.
Gone are the days when women put their dreams on hold because they have a family and a husband. We are in a day and
age where the second income is needed in the house, but women just don't have the time to work the traditional 9 to 5
job. Perhaps the money just isn't there to hire daycare for a full day. So what do we do?
"I find that most Christian female entrepreneurs have the same questions I do, how do I balance running my business,
taking care of the household, giving God the time he deserves, and still feel fulfilled?"
Anointed Enterprise Magazine™ was created to help fill those needs. Stay tuned, Anointed Enterprise Magazine™ is the
first magazine of its kind. Offering VERY affordable advertising it is your business link to clients. Giving the magazine
in a FREE digital format means that we are your business coach & girlfriend all wrapped up into one.
Anointed Enterprise Magazine™ continues to be a work in progress. Please feel free to contact us about your needs as we
grow.
As a divorced mother of one, Tamika Hall- Johnson took just $250 and launched Anointed Word Media Group on May
1, 2006, under the imprint of Leading Lady Publications from her parents small computer room. Within six months of
operation the company had moved into a commerical office and had published authors from around the Country.
January 2007, AWMG, the only Christian publishing company nominated, was voted Best Small Press of 2006 by
Marguerite Press. February 2007, Tamika expanded the publishing company to include a male imprint, "Men of Standard
Publications" and an online radio program "Anointed Authors on Air," placing all entities under the heading of Anointed
Word Media Group.
A survivor of dating and domestic abuse, Johnson authored the award winning book He Loves Me Not, But I Love Myself!
A young woman's guide to conquering dating violence & finding safe love. Johnson is the founder of Teen Dating
Violence Awareness Day, the Love Doesn't Leave Bruises Campaign, and is the Executive Director of the Christan Network
Against Domestic Violence (www.cnadv.org), an online organization dedicated to "Empowering victims, Educating faith
leaders, and Eradicating domestic violence in the Christian home!"

We get tested but-
we have VICTORY in
Jesus!
by Peggy Tatum
I often thought of victory as the big win, never thinking about the small wins that took place to get to that point.
We are victorious every day if we think about the simple things in life such as health, freedom, shelter, the right
to vote, worship and for some riches.
These victories came from the hard work of our ancestors that either fought for the cause or were wise enough to
leave an inheritance. Your victory may be in the form of not being affected by high gas prices for personal
transportation because of smart choices that you made.
In a few days, we will all be entrenched with the mass media coverage of the Olympic Games. We will cheer
some of the athletes, boo others and offer our expert armchair opinion for some of the performances, have
countless conversations about the fog and most definitely compare the number of medals that the US has
compared to China and the other countries. Speculation will definitely abound about doping for any athlete that
wins by a considerable margin. None of the athletes got there by happenstance.
It took countless hours of dedication, practice and preparation. Such is the case with our Victory in Jesus and
our quest for eternal life. It will take much dedication to our faith, practicing our walk with Christ and preparing
through our studying and meditation.
A year or so ago our Pastor reinstituted a morning hymn for service. Growing up in the church, hymns were
quite boring but as I grew older, I began to understand the words versus looking for a beat. I particularly like
"Victory in Jesus" because I am already victorious through Christ.
O victory in Jesus,
My Savior, forever.
He sought me and bought me
With His redeeming blood;
He loved me ere I knew Him
And all my love is due Him,
He plunged me to victory,
Beneath the cleansing flood.

With elevation, there's
tribulation - but you
must have expectation
that VICTORY will
come!
by E. Claudette Freeman
After spending half of my life enjoying a career in radio, twelve of those years at a gospel station to which I had
become intimately connected - I began to pray about moving in my calling - writing. God said move. I stayed
put. God said move again. I stayed put. Then my prayers became God why? God said because you will not
move into the blessing of your prayers. I moved.
What a sweet thing to experience - walking into the manifestation of prayers about doing what you are
passionate about!
August 2007; I will never forget it. That is the month that I finally stepped into the path that God had paved for
me. It was a time of realizing that everything else had been preparation. It was also the realization that when
God says move out of preparation into practice, we must do that immediately or our victory can be marred
by unnecessary tribulation.
In the year since God has challenged me to walk into His complete authority and dominion; I have learned and
experienced the wealth that comes with being victorious in Christ.
It is a wealth built from tears when you are not sure the monthly cash flow will be sufficient; yet you rise and
say God I expect you to come through. It is a wealth built from receiving hard personal news, yet you through
tears you begin to speak to the Jehovah who heals, who battles, who forgives, who covers and believe in every
one of His promises. It is a wealth built from watching God do things you never envisioned. That wealth
for me has been evident in my business.
In August 2007, I left a full time position as a manager to begin So E Incorporated Media and Literary Services,
a freelance writing, ghostwriting, literary coaching and literary workshop company. By the end of 2007, So E
Inc. branched into a publishing company PECAN TREE PUBLISHING. Pecan Tree now produces PARABLES
MAGAZINE, a publication devoted to providing inspirational and Christian-based short fiction and will publish
the work of five authors in the next year.
Then God moved again and So E Inc. sprouted Enduring Glory Media, which now produces internet-based radio
programs and a syndicated radio segment on using writing to cope with the challenges of daily life. That wealth
for me was evident in my personal life, when I really began to refocus on my son; who was immersed in
behavioral issues in school.
In my new position as entrepreneur, I was better positioned to make bold moves, and to literally anoint walk
ways and doors at his school each time I was called to the office. I was able to move as an ultimate faith
walker, I watched God move and a child destined to fail second grade not only passed, but did so well in
testing phases, that he has been marked for "gifted" exams.
Daily there are challenges. One of the greatest for me was to admit that I had moved ahead of God in a project
that would have meant a play I wrote could have very well toured nationally. What a dream come true! Yet there
was so much that would not settle in my spirit about it. After months of prayer and tribulation, I acted in
obedience and removed the production from consideration.
I lost some relationships, but I gained so much more in Christ, because He immediately honored my
obedience and opened other doors for His work to be done. I have been physically challenged. My health
has been aggressively attacked every quarter since I took that step of faith - out of control diabetes, a
questionable mammogram and so much more - yet God reminds me that by His stripes, He reminds me that He
came that I might have life, He reminds me that there are cattle on a thousand hills for me and most importantly
He encourages me that victory is not only promised it is assured.
My parable, my story is this - while releasing my comfortable zones, my vision, my desires, my literary
dreams was painful, the pain was temporal and victory in Christ on a whole new level is my portion and I
am loving it!
PARABLES MAGAZINE, a bi-monthly online publication (click on the cover) in only ONE issue has captured readers
from around the world. Visits to the site increased five fold when PARABLES was launched in July.
Welcome to a new Christian magazine this is inspiring, edifying, relatable and able to be viewed without cost around

Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed

For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all.
So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is
unseen is eternal.

Queen Bees!
An all-star cast brings best-selling novel
"The Secret Life of Bees" to the big screen
Gina Prince-Bythewood [best known for helming Love & Basketball] is the director of the highly anticipated
movie version of The Secret Life of Bees.
Based on Sue Monk Kidd's New York Times best-selling novel, the film takes place during the summer of 1964
in the Jim Crow South. Lily (Dakota Fanning), accompanied by her spirited caregiver, Rosaleen (Jennifer
Hudson), sets out to unearth the secrets of her deceased mother's past.
But the real journey begins when they meet the beekeeping Boatwright sisters, who take them in and salve their
wounded souls. "As the eldest, August is the 'mother' of the house," says Latifah of her character. "She's a
simple solid woman." Sophie Oknedo plays the middle sister, May and Alicia Keys rounds out the cast as June,
the youngest, who was drawn to the character's "complex beautiful layers."
Having read the novel in a single setting, Prince-Bythewood crafted the screenplay, her first period piece, in just
one month. "It's a special story with a special cast," she says. "And I hope we've created a special movie." -

(Hudson), her caregiver and only friend, to a South Carolina town that holds the secret to her mother's past.
Taken in by the intelligent and independent Boatwright sisters (Latifah, Okonedo and Keys), Lily finds solace in

Faith plus
Hope Equals
Victory - but
you
gotta believe
you can fly!
by
Carenda Lynch
To walk in victory, to me, is literally rooted on the foundation of faith and the substance of
hope. If one finds themselves feeling hopeless it is impossible to activate faith and reap the
unseen evidence of it. If we are going to walk in victory we must take action.
The word tells us that faith without works is dead. Many of us must understand and
appreciate that victory comes from pursuing purpose. I believe that a seed, called vision,
is planted in us but when the enemy attempts to attack and deceive us he rather us be a
victim than a victor.
One of the major battles I had to overcome was the approval of others. I did not have
victory in this area at one point in my life. I cared more about what people said than what
The word tells us that faith without works is dead.
I cared more about what people said than what
God said. That is a very uncomfortable and unstable compromising position to be in.
However, I have learned that only what we do for Christ will last. And when people say or
assume that your dream and your vision is impossible ,that is the perfect time to allow the
vision in you to leap as a reminder that the promises of God are yes and Amen!
If you are going to walk in victory you must learn to endure. The Bible tells us that the
race is not given to the swift nor the strong but to the one who endures to the end. One of
the things that makes me go on is understanding that I am God's workmanship (Ephesians
2:10), accepting that I belong to Him and that I have been created in His image.
Therefore, if I quit to soon I quit on God and I abort the plan from the Masters Hands; and
for me that is not an option.
I'm going to spread my wings - with God all things are possible!

There are many things that can work together to bring victory over
circumstances or situations. But there is one that really can accelerate
our win: the blood of Jesus Christ!
That, along with the state of our inward attitude or disposition of our
hearts will produce an inner peace which surpasses all understanding.
Understanding what the blood of Jesus represents gives us the
confidence that overcomes discouragement, doubt and unbelief.
The blood shed on the cross gives us the assurance that God is in
control.
Despite his tribulations, Paul didn't lose sight of his victory. He wrote,
"We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are
perplexed, but not in despair; Persecuted, but not forsaken; cast
down, but not destroyed; (2 Corinthians 4:8-9).
Paul's life and ministry were filled with tremendous hardship, but his
attitude remained confident and resisted defeat. "...Thanks be to God,
which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ" (1
Corinthians 15:57).
Paul knew that Christ had already made provisions for him. It didn't mean
that he would not experience situations but he lived with an attitude
knowing that he was an overcomer through Jesus Christ.

Trust Plus Courage
Equals Victory by
Syrone C. Harvey
As a kid, I was faced with a gi-normous challenge. It was the second day of swim class. In those days, some felt
it was okay to toss a non-swimmer into a pool to eliminate their fear and at the same time force them to swim.
With shaking knees I stood on top of the highest diving board I'd ever seen. Below, several instructors treaded
water and offered up encouragement, "Just jump. We'll catch you." I peeked over the edge. Nope, I wasn't
having it.
Finally I made my move. (I was headed back down the ladder.) I didn't notice that an instructor had snuck up
behind me. With a swoop, he grabbed and tossed me overboard. Before panic sunk in, I felt strong arms
propelling me towards the surface. Unfortunately, I didn't earn my certificate but my twin sister did. I was so
embarrassed.
One day my sister talked me into going with her to a local pool. Understanding my disappointment, she offered to
teach me how to swim. Somehow I trusted her. It wasn't long before her coaxing, became cheers and then
praise. I'd done it. I could swim!
Was my victory tarnished because I didn't learn with the rest of my class? No, it was still victory. With only my
sister there as a witness, I had discovered it and it was all mine.
When you're facing a challenge, victory begins with your very first step. Put one foot in front of the other and
remember you're not alone. God understands our reluctance and urges us to give our cares to Him. (1Pet 5:7)
Whether large or small, it's still a victory.

My mind immediately thought about Joshua and the Children of Israel and how the Lord did not allow Moses to
cross over into the promise land.
So much blood has been shed and so many tears have been cried for our generation to be part of this day.
Anything is possible, do we still have work to do?YES.
Do we still have hills to climb? YES.
- after 200 plus years of slavery, 70 years of racial oppression and Jim Crow laws, we can look into our children's
eyes and truthfully tell them anything is possible.
- knowing that the blood of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and Medgar Evers have cried out once again but this
time America answered.
- knowing that I could vote and not meet the same grave met by Chaney, Goodman and Schwerner the three
Civil Rights workers.
- seeing a strong black woman, educated and well-capable in her own right, standing proudly by her man.
Proverbs 31:11 (NKJV) The heart of her husband safely trusts her; so he will have no lack of gain.
- seeing a strong black stable household, an endangered entity in our time; occupy the White House as a symbol
of family.
- knowing that the honor of Sally Hemmings and the legacy of Black women will be changed from mistress to
First Lady.
- seeing a black man win a presidential election not because of the color of his skin, but on the basis of
intelligence and sheer brilliance.
- knowing that indeed, Robert Kennedy died a prophet in 1968, proclaiming that America could have a Black
President in 40 yrs.
- knowing that the next first lady of the United States of America is a Black woman named Michelle LaVaughn.

The campaign of Senator Barack Obama will stand as a proud moment for
America, not only because Democrats had the good sense to chose the best nominee, but also
because of what the improbable journey of the Obama family tells us about the power of faith and
family. Barack, Michelle and their two daughters, Malia and Sasha, did not invent those values.
They are American values, human values, and they have sustained us at every step of our own
journey as Black people in America. ....

& Soul!
By Edwin Avent
So many people are throwing their hands up in despair today and they are saying, "Oh Lord what
must I do. I can't find a way out of this problem."
I want you to know that the Lord promises you a way out of your wilderness. He will make a new way for you. I
am glad that we serve a God that can do the impossible and delights in performing miracles.
Jesus is the same today as He was in the time of the Bible. He can still perform
miracles, IF YOU BELIEVE!
Just wait on the Lord, be patient and you will see the hand of the Lord guide you through your wilderness
experience. What the devil means for evil, the Lord will use it to build your faith.
You are more than a conqueror in Christ Jesus. You simply cannot be defeated!
Let us move forward in this season of new beginnings with the mind of victory.
We must think as the winners we are and we are never to forget the Lord is on
our side.
Now, wait for your "opening in the wilderness, and your stream in the desert."
Now shout, for the Lord has given you the victory!

As this year comes to a close we find ourselves recounting the events of times past. For some,
this past year signified a release of all things new. Yet for others this year re-tells the story of
hardship, hurt, and struggle.
Personally, I've met so many that are hurting. There are those who are worn by the trials of life
and ready to reap a harvest of victory. And maybe in reading this, you are one of those people.
Maybe you've waited for victory to manifest only to be left waiting. Well, if that's you,
consider this word for you: The wait is over!
First Corinthians 15:57 reads; "But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our
consider this word for you: The wait is over!
First Corinthians 15:57 reads; "But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our
Lord Jesus Christ."
Now isn't that an awesome word? 'Giveth' means that victory is continually manifesting. In
other words, as soon as you're faced with the problem, God has already solved it! See, the
enemy may have tried to push you into homelessness, but you still have a place to lay your
head. Now that's victory. You may have lost your job, but you didn't lose your mind, now that's
victory. You may have been sick with illness, but you're not dead, and guess what? That's
victory!
Remember, victory isn't just in ones ability to live at the top of life but it's in our ability to
overcome through ALL of life.
So to all I say, be encouraged. God has not forgotten you. In fact, God did His part before the
foundations of the earth were laid. It's now up to us to manifest it.
So, the choice today is simple, wait around for something to happen or pick up our beds and
walk. My brother and my sister remember, the victory is already yours.
