1. What is your district’s vision or mission statement? Five years from now, would avisitor coming to your school see technology supporting learning and teaching? Wouldthere be an improvement from today?

HuntingtonBeachUnionHighSchools’missionstatement:
Our mission is to ensure all students learn and achieve to their maximum potential ina supportive and innovative environment that develops creative, responsible and productive individuals prepared to meet the challenges of the future.

Five years from now I am not sure what a person might find coming to my school inthe area of Technology. This is a difficult question for me to answer because of whatI have seen going on in years past. In the past few years I have seen disconnect withtechnology in the classroom, that is why I am getting a degree in Technology. Iwould hope that I could change what I have seen happen in the past years toincorporate what I have learned into my teaching and help others to do the same.

. It is the goal of the HBUHSDto provide equal access to high quality instruction and instructional materials for all district students. Students and teachers have access to technology in classrooms, labs, and library media centers. All classrooms are connected to the Internet. Inmost cases, teachers have a computer dedicated to their use. Classrooms computersare available to students during the school day as well as before and after school depending on teacher’s schedules. The number of computers in classrooms varieswidely.

If our computers at school continue to become old and not get replaced or updated Ido not see an improvement in our schools. As teachers we are now required toprovide our own computers for teaching and there are few working student computersin our classes. I have also found that our younger teachers do not use technology likeI would have expected them to.There is a 3 year plan starting form 2010, but without funds I do not see how this willhappen.
PLAN DURATION This plan will guide HBUHSD’s use of technology for the three-year from July 1,2010 through June 30, 2013. It serves as both the Enhancing Education ThroughTechnology (EETT) education technology plan and the E-rate plan for the district. It will be approved by the district Board of Trustees

2. Has the district established levels of proficiency in technology bygrade levels? If so, are these proficiencies woven into the academiccurriculum? Are they taught in separate stand-alone technologylessons/classes?

There is no level of proficiency in technology by grade level in our district.
