Ubuntu Green Newsletter

MARCH 1, 2011 VOLUME 1, NUMBER 1

Happy Holidays!

Dear Friends!

In our first year, Ubuntu Green has grown from a dream to an organization that
enjoys the enthusiastic support of its Board, staff, volunteers and most importantly
the community. In 2009, we became a non-profit 501c3 organization, established
the annual Green Oak Park! event, completed our first strategic planning process
and began to advocate for green justice principals and innovations in the
Sacramento region and beyond.

In addition, we have created partnerships with other organizations, governmental

agencies, businesses and individuals that will lead to continued successes in 2010.
This has included active participation in The California Endowment supported
Sacramento Building Healthy Communities and Sacramento Regional Food
Collaborative processes and monitoring and working with the City and County of
Sacramento and the Sacramento Area Council of Government’s (SACOG).

In 2010, we will launch our online Green Resource Center, the Green Youth
Leadership Team (GYLT), Green Oak Park! 2010, and partnerships aimed at
ensuring transportation equity, leadership development for local citizens and
improved food access in low income communities and communities of color.

As we continue to grow, we need the support of all of our friends. In these last few
days of the season of giving, please take a few moments to give to Ubuntu Green!
In This Edition: When you give now you’ll get your tax deduction for 2009, while making sure we
have the capacity to continue to build sustainable and equitable communities.

Over the next 6 months, the Ubuntu Green team will work with a team of

Growth
