The Champaign Park District is a special dis-trict o local government with its own fnancialand legal responsibilities. It is governed by fveelected residents o Champaign who give theirservices to the community. The Park Board holdsits regular meetings on the second Wednesdayo each month at 7pm at the Bresnan MeetingCenter, 706 Kenwood Road. Residents are invitedto attend and are welcome to make sugges-tions or comments to improve the programs oracilities oered. The Champaign Park District’s63 parks total over 679 acres. F

During 2011, the Champaign Park District is celebrating 100 years o parks orChampaign. We have a proud and noble past o providing Gold Medal Awardwinning parks and programs and a promising uture with the scheduledcompletion o the Robert C. Porter Park, the development o the frst phase o thenew park at Boulder Ridge, and the continued renovation o the Virginia Theatreduring our 100th year.The services we provide are made possible through the eorts o residents like youwho volunteer as coaches, helpers, playground builders, recreation leaders, park cleanup crews and Adopt-a-Park neighbors. These kinds o partnerships are whatmake the Champaign Park District so special.This guide highlights summer programs and is provided so that you and youramilies can experience the joy o learning new skills, get ft through our sports andexercise programs, learn to swim, make new riends at dance classes or day camp,or simply enjoy your parks. Residents living within the boundaries of the Park District regularly support park facilities and programs through property taxes.People living within the Champaign and Urbana Park District boundaries pay the “resident (R)” fee. Persons residing outside thesedistricts pay 50% more than the resident rates – “non-resident (NR)”. Tennis Center program fees are not determined by residency, butby purchase of a Tennis Center membership. If you are not a member, you may participate by paying the guest fee.
