A Signal of Hope

Why shouldn’t we dream, such little reliefsWhen our country is in such a nasty mess? The economy is collapsing, due to CEO thievesWhile politicians do naught, but beat their chests.Working class struggling to make ends meetAll the while getting no where but poorer.Politicians and CEOS complacently eatIn places so ritzy we’d never get in the door.Young children go hungry with nothing to eat,Everywhere people dying without basic care.Politicians and CEOs live in houses so sweetOff on trips and shopping, such excessive flair. How long can we go on living, strugglingNever getting anywhere but further down?Single parents on minimum wage jugglingWhile dangers for their children abound? It will happen, on history it will be based upon,A rising, a pooling, a gathering, a rally. It’s happened before in a place called Boston,A country in revolution, but it took a tally. The weapons today are much more advanced,Tanks, guns, chemicals and nuclear bombs.Warfare uncivilized so grandly enhancedAll tools to be used without any qualms. These things I have seen in my dreamsIf things don’t change in our world.Governments spending way beyond meansThe peace of the world to hell will be hurled. In a world dead and dying alone,Cities, towns, fields in final death throes,Only one thing did death postponeA signal of hope, a single red rose.© Dalene M.
