Mobilization, broadband deployment and IP implementation have emerged as threecentral eatures underpinning the development o modern telecom industry. No telecomoperator, whether xed, mobile or integrated, dares to neglect the impact each o these will have on uture business development. From 2G to 3G to B3G, the mobile communication eld possesses the ability anddrive to improve radio resource utilization and high-speed data transport capabilities. While UMB, LE and WiMAX are all capable o transporting up to 100M o high-speed data, the transmission o broadband data services such as real-time high-resolution video services conronts operators with a host o challenges and problems in terms o network restructuring and service integration. Nevertheless, traditional DM-voice-based mobile communication networks cannot avoid transormation. As one o the mainstream mobile network systems, CDMA also requires undamentalarchitectural transormation. Given erce competition rom the powerul GSM/UMS,CDMA technologies must be improved and, more urgently, IMS-oriented servicecapabilities must be optimized, the whole network operation cost must be lowered, so asto win a competition edge by dierentia, and provide a balanced, stable and sustainablebenecial network support in aspects o investment and revenue, quality and eciency, fexibility and reliability, development and innovation.During the 2nd Global CDMA Operation and Development Forum held inBandung, Indonesia, in July, 2007, experts and representatives rom the CDMA industry arrived at a common understanding regarding the development o the globalCDMA industry. Specically, the uture direction o broadband mobile networks mustbe based on IP in order to simpliy networks and enhance their capabilities in terms o transmission, diversied service expansion, and intelligent maintenance.Te major actors driving CDMA toward IP transormation derive rom the need orreduced operator CO, the abundance o IP-based convergent commercial applications, and smooth uture evolution into UMB.Based on its rich experience in the mobile and IP technology ields and deepunderstanding o uture trends, Huawei has initiated an All-IP-based CDMA network solution. his is designed to deliver VoIP services in an FMC convergent network;provide high-speed DORA broadband services that satisy various enterprise needs; oersustainable and optimized network maintenance; construct CDMA trunking servicesthat create special value or customers; and oer traditional WLL operators innovativeservice capability via NGN by LiteFME. Tese eatures will assist CDMA operatorsembark on a competitive and innovative development road regarding convergence o mobile broadband and IP implementation.Te uture o the CDMA industry rests with All-IP based mobile broadband network architecture and its associated organization, operational processes and service provisionmodes.
