CHANGING REALITY WITH YOUR MIND
"Nothing can withstand the power of the human will if it iswilling to stake its very existence to the extent of its purpose."
Benjamin DisraeliPeter F. Drucker
What you have to do and the way you have to do it is incredibly simple. Whether you are willing to do it,that's another matter.Every judgment teeters on the brink of error. To claim absolute knowledge is to become monstrous.Knowledge is an unending adventure at the edge of uncertainty. (Frank Herbert)We are what we pretend to be, so we must be careful about what we pretend to be. (Kurt Vonnegut)One of the greatest illusions about human nature is that the expression of grief will lead to a breakdown.
Quite the reverse.
No one has ever broken down nervously through the legitimate expression of anemotional reaction. The distortion, the concealment, the denial of our normal human feelings may well prove the breeding ground of delayed breakdowns. The truth is that we human beings are tough organismsand can withstand much rough handling. How absurd is that notion current in modern society that menand women must be safeguarded, coddled, and shielded against emotional outbursts. It is not thoseoutbursts which harm the human organism, but the complete avoidance of them, which scars and tears thefabric of the inner soul.
(From "Peace of Mind" by Joshua Loth Liebman, publ Simon and Schuster, NewYork, 1946, pp. 112-113)
Religion is for those who are afraid of going to hell. Spirituality is for those who have already been there.
James Gordon
It's not that some people have willpower and some don't. It's that some people are ready to change andothers are not.
"The Kingdom will not come by waiting for it. It will not be a matter of saying 'Here it is' or 'There it is'. Rather, the Kingdom of the Father isspread out upon earth, and men do not see it. . . . Let him who seekscontinue seeking until he finds. When he finds, he will become troubled. When he becomes troubled, he will be astonished, and he will rule overall things." - Jesus
(from the gnostic Gospel of Thomas)The first phase of Man's Evolution has been to do with creating free thinking beingscapable of controlling their surroundings by purely physical means. The next great step in Man's Evolution is concerned with enabling these freethinking beings to control their surroundings and experiences by mental methods aswell as physical.

The Substance
WHAT do we mean by the Spirit of a thing? One frequently hears the expression "Heenters into the spirit of a thing" and it will be of value to us to examine the phrasecarefully and try to arrive at its exact meaning. The simplest way to achieve ourobject is to take a hypothetical case.Let us suppose that some man realises that there is an immense need for supplyingthe unemployed with free meals, and proceeds to organise a movement to achievethis object. Unable to do the whole job single handed, he enlists the aid of otherpeople and asks them "to enter into the spirit" of the thing. In actual fact, he asksthem to share his attitude of mind towards the object he has in view. In otherwords he endeavours to reproduce in them that quality of life which inspired him tobring his movement and organization into existence. That is precisely the object in introducing to you very briefly the whole fascinatingsubject of Mental Science. It is intended that you should share the creative attitudeof mind, which originated the Universe and its inhabitants. There are certain Universal Laws in constant and evident operation all around us,and, by attaining some grasp of their principles, we may use the power inherent inthem to help ourselves through our daily troubles and perplexities. We can, metaphorically speaking, bring our water wheel into appropriate contact with themain stream and cause it to turn our particular mill.If then, we examine the course of the world around us, we find that continuousProgress or Movement is being manifested, and we must try to trace to its sourcethat Power which causes the evolution that is so obviously inherent in everything.Scientists have made it very clear to us that it is no use to look for that Power inthe physical world, for they have reduced all material things to nothing more or lessthan "changed space."And here, I expect, you pull up with a jerk and say "I don't quite understand thatlast sentence," Right, let us re-state it.Scientists have proved to us that there must have been, at the beginning of allcreation, a Universal Substance which, by the action of some Outside Force (theidentity of which we will examine later), set in motion a process of change. Thisprocess consisted of the gradual building up of the universe and its inhabitants bysuccessive stages of evolution. In other words, the universe and its beings arenothing more than Universal Substance which has undergone transformation. There, therefore, remains that essential basic factor to be remembered that, quiteliterally, "Ye are all One."So much for the Physical and Material Substance.
