Published by Joseph Kapuku
This dissertation was submitted and accepted for the fulfillment of the academic requirements for the degree of Master's of science in Engineering at the university of Kwazulu-Natal in South Africa. The research focused on anaerobic baffled reactor (ABR)treating complex particulate wastewater. This wastewater was a mix of sludge from faecal material with domestic wastewater and material included in the feed.
The objective was to determine the capacity of the ABR in treating complex particulate wastewater and undestand how the feed affects the effluent under increasing loading rates. The outcome of this study has shown that the anaerobic digestion is not the most appropriate method for VIP sludge treatment despite high removal efficiencies recorded during this work.
